RESUMEN
ABSTRACT
The stratigraphic section of the Tepetate Fm. (Late Cretaceous through Early Eocene) at El
Conejo Valley contains turbidite and oligomictic conglomerate with rip-up clasts and intra-
clasts. These and other marine sedimentary rocks, which in parts of the section are very
fossiliferous, show primary sedimentary structures related to intermittent bottom currents of
high density and energy. Erosion seems to have been a dominant process. The primary sedimen-
tary structures, the sequence of strata and the foraminiferal assemblage suggest a channel or
submarine valley subenvironment of the mid slope.
