LA DURMIENTE (THE SLEEPER)

At midnight in the month of June, 

A medianoche, en el mes de junio, 
I stand beneath the mystic moon.

An opiate vapour, dewy, dim,

Exhales from out her golden rim,

Wrapping the fog about its breast,

The ruin moulders into rest;

Looking like Lethe, see! the lake 
Parecido a Leteo, ¡mira!, el lago 
A conscious slumber seems to take, 
parece que se entrega a un sueño consciente 
And would not, for the world, awake. 
y no despertaría por nada del mundo. 
All Beauty sleeps! -- and lo! where

Oh, lady bright! can it be right -- 

This window open to the night?  ¡Oh, ilustre señora!, ¿cómo puede estar bien 
The wanton airs, from the tree-top,  esta ventana abierta a la noche? 
Laughingly through the lattice drop --  El aire travieso, desde la cima de los árboles, 
The bodiless airs, a wizard rout,  pasa riendo a través de la reja. 
Flit through thy chamber in and out,  Aires incorpóreos, revoltoso brujo, 
And wave the curtain canopy  entran y salen de tu aposento revoloteando, 
So fitfully -- so fearfully --  y mueve el dosel de las cortinas 
Above the closed and fringed lid  tan caprichosamente -tan temerariamente- 
'Neath which thy slumb'ring sould lies por encima de la cercana y orlada cobertura 
hid,  bajo la cual tu alma adormecida reposa
That o'er the floor and down the wall,  escondida, 
Like ghosts the shadows rise and fall!  que, sobre el suelo y por las paredes abajo, 
Oh, lady dear, hast thous no fear?  ¡como fantasmas las sombras suben y bajan! 
Why and what art thou dreaming ¡Oh, querida señora!, ¿no tienes miedo?

A wonder to these garden trees!  atraída por este jardín!

dress!  ¡Extraña, sobre todo, la longitud de tu trenza, 
Strange, above all, thy length of tress,  todo ese silencio solemne!
And this all solemn silentness!

The lady sleeps! Oh, may her sleep,  ¡La señora duerme! ¡Oh, que pueda su dormir 
Which is enduring, so be deep!  que permanece, ser tan profundo 
Heaven have her in its sacred keep!  que el cielo la tenga bajo su sagrada
This chamber changed for one more protección! 
 Este aposento se preparó para otra más santa, 
holy, 
esta cama para otra más melancólica. 
This bed for one more melancholy, 
¡Rezo a Dios para que repose 
I pray to God that she may lie 
con los ojos cerrados para siempre, 
Forever with unopened eye,

While the dim sheeted ghosts go by!

Against whose portal she hath -algún sepulcro, remoto, solitario, 
thrown,  contra cuya tapa ella ha tirado 
In childhood, many an idle stone --  muchas piedras distraídas en su niñez-. 
Some tomb from out whose sounding Alguna tumba de cuya chirriante puerta 
door  ella no pueda forzar nunca más un eco, 
She ne'er shall force an echo more,  temblando al pensar, ¡pobre niña de pecado!, 
Thrilling to think, poor child of sin!  que eran los muertos que gemían dentro.
It was the dead who groaned within.
