No

SUMMARY
The dier of rhe Sronechar in Souihensrern Spain during aumn-winier
The diet of the Stonechat (Saxicola iorquara) was studied in southern Spain between October
and Febmary by analyring 60 stomach contenis (25 males and 33 remales). This species showcd a
mixed diet but with a hiehwmoonent of animal matter (87.6 % of volumel mainlv in the femaies
(91.3 % of volume). ~ h fruils
é 'of Olea europaea were the &os1 important'food itim in the males
whilc in the females, the mosl important was fnUts of Solanaoeae. 'ihe animal fraaion included
mainly Hymenopterans (Formicidae) and Coleopterans (IG=80,26 and 52.2 mpectively). Gril
was found only ranly.
Prey size was 6.60i0.2 mm, s m a l b in females (X=ó,S5iO,l mm) than in males
(X=6,65i0,2 mm).
By analyzing the characteristic habiiat of the p r q , wc can mnclude that most of tbe
invertebrats pnyed live on the ground suriace (73.3%).
