Evasión Virtual explora cómo el mundo digital será cada vez
más influyente en el diseño físico y viceversa, dado que las
distinciones entre lo virtual y lo real se vuelven más fluidas.
En una era de ansiedad frente a los problemas del mundo, el
espacio digital se presenta como antídoto y ofrece un refugio
al que escapar y donde expresarse. Con el cambio de década,
la influencia de la esfera digital sobre la real se volverá aún
más palpable. La inteligencia artificial va a transformarnos la
vida, los eSports llegarán a valer 1000 millones de dólares en
2020, los influencers en Instagram generados por ordenador
aumentan su popularidad, y hay empresas fabricando prendas
que solo existen online. En este aparente caos, hay un orden y,
en los formatos, un trasfondo desenfadado.
En P/V 21, esta situación de cambio impulsará la demanda
de colores artificiales, formas exageradas, diseños y
estampados distorsionados o intencionadamente falsos, y
tejidos transparentes y de alta tecnología; todo ello
combinado con un nivel de sofisticación que huye de los
trucos. También se revisitarán viejas ideas y nuevos clásicos
para la era digital, pues el diseño de producto abre sus miras
y toma prestado de diferentes épocas e industrias.
La sensación que produce esta dirección alegre y
experimental quizás se resume bien en la artista y músico
estadounidense Laurie Anderson. En unas declaraciones
acerca de su nueva instalación de realidad virtual, que lleva al
público en un viaje por paisajes lunares, explicó: "Es un buen
momento para crear nuevas realidades".
