La Ruta Crítica
Si no
Essay on the critical chain book
The book deals with a way of managing projects called critical chain mentions
that now planning a project we are used to protect the date of completion of
each of the tasks that are carried out to try not to get into trouble with the end
date of the entire project. A) Yes. if we finish before we give our superiors a joy,
and if there are delays, we make sure that they are contemplated by the margin
that we have entered. As a result of this, at the time of planning the project, we
fill in each and every one of the steps, but we must bear in mind that there are
three mechanisms that make us consume all the security time we have added:
1. The student syndrome. It does not put us with a task until we see the end
date above.
It is important to define one of the central concepts of the book: the critical path.
These are the steps that mark the minimum time it takes to execute the project.
In other words. the project will not end in less time than the critical path marks
an important aspect derived from the concept of critical path is the fact that if
there is some delay in some of the tasks that make up the critical path, this
automatically implies a delay in the end date of the project. The consequences
of this are immediate We should never waste time that is reserved for critical
path tasks and we must make sure that we put all the means at our disposal so
that the tasks of the critical path start executing when we wait and finish
executing without delays. People who participate in the project know that when
they have to do a task of the critical chain, they must leave everything else and
dedicate themselves much more to this task.
This is why we can remove all mattresses in each of the tasks that make up the
critical route to ensure that these tasks are not going to delay In addition, by
removing those mattresses you can build another mattress at the end of the
project . This mattress is called project buffer.
The buffer of the project is one of the three types of buffers defined in the book.
It should be borne in mind that unexpected events often occur outside the
critical path and, sometimes, these events have a more serious impact than that
should be expected and cause delays in this, that is, disaster. What you try to
avoid at all costs. In the book another type of buffer is proposed to avoid this
risk: the buffer of feeding
This is inserted at each intersection point of a task (or group detareas) with the
critical path. It is like the buffer of projects but for the branches that lead to the
critical path. One of the big problems that the book solves and that occurs
innumerable times in a company is when a department is the bottleneck. A
large part of the company's projects have tasks that must be executed by that
department, but that department is always collapsed and it is essential to make
use of its hours in the most optimized ways possible.
To take this into account in the Gantt diagram of the project, one must be aware
that the dependencies are not only given by the diagram routes, but also by the
order in which they make use of the common resource. And this is how the
concept of critical chain arises: The longest chain (considering time and
resources) of dependent events. If we did not take into account the
dependencies between tasks based on the use of the limited resource, it could
be the case that all the power buffers overflow. There is the possibility of using
the resource buffers, which are buffers that precede the tasks performed by
limited resources.
This ensures that these resources are available when you need to use them.
They are used in the tasks of the critical chain because, as mentioned above,
when a resource comes to him to do a task of the critical chain, he has to leave
everything and get on with it. In short, the problems caused by the resources
limited are solved in a double way: With proper planning and resource buffers.
