There is and there are nos ayudan a decir si hay o no hay ciertas
cosas. Los dos, en español se traducen como «hay».
THERE IS
Usaremos there is para el singular, es decir para una sola cosa.
Además, también usaremos there is para palabras incontables,
como por ejemplo: milk (leche), honey (miel), sugar (azúcar), salt
(sal), butter (mantequilla), money (dinero), juice (zumo), water
(agua), rice (arroz), time (tiempo), cheese (queso)
THERE ARE
Usaremos there are para el plural, es decir, para dos o más cosas.

➲ It’s been raining all day. (Ha estado lloviendo una vez
todo el día).

(¿Tú los has estado visitando una vez por semana durante
el último año?).
➲ Has it been raining all day? (¿Ha estado lloviendo una vez
todo el día?).
➲ Have they been completing the project for four weeks?
(¿Ellos han estado completando el proyecto durante 4
semanas?).
➲ Has she been cooking something special for you? (¿Ella ha
estado cocinando algo especial para ti?).
➲ Have they been living here for two years? (¿Ellos has
estado viviendo aquí por dos años?).
PASADO PERFECTO
CONTINUO
➲ El pasado perfecto continuo en inglés corresponde al
pluscuamperfecto de español en el que se usa el indicativo del
verbo “estar” y el verbo+ing. En general, lo usamos para
acciones en proceso de realización en el pasado antes de otra
acción ocurrida.
Form (Forma)
➲ Como en el presente perfecto continuo, se forma el pasado
perfecto continuo con el verbo auxiliar “to have”, “been” y el
verbo+ing.
Structure (Estructura)
➲ I had not been working in that firm for many years. (Yo no
había estado trabajando en esa empresa por muchos
años).
➲ Had you been working in that firm for many years? (¿Tú
habías estado trabajando en esa empresa por muchos
años?).
➲ Had we been loving each other for twenty years?
(¿Nosotros nos habíamos estado amando uno al otro por
veinte años?).
➲ Had you been investing in something revolutionary? (¿Tú
habías estado invirtiendo en algo revolucionario?).
➲ Had it been working…? (¿Eso había estado trabajando?).
➲ Had we been working…? (¿Nosotros habíamos estado
trabajando?).
SHALL- SHOULD
➲ “Shall” y “should” son verbos modales.
➲ You should learn at least five new words every day. (Tú
deberías aprender al menos cinco palabras cada día).

VOZ ACTIVA-VOZ PASIVA
➲ La voz activa indica que el sujeto realiza la acción del verbo
mientras el complemento la recibe. En el caso de la voz pasiva,
el sujeto recibe la acción del verbo y el complemento agente
realiza la acción del verbo. Cambiar una oración activa a
oración pasiva permite identificar el objeto directo.
➲ Voz activa: Jim will write a letter. (Jim escribira una carta)
➲ Voz pasiva: A letter will be written by Jim. (Una carta será
escrita por Jim)
➲ Voz activa: Jim has written a letter. (Jim ha escrito una carta)
➲ Voz pasiva: A letter has been written by Jim. (Una carta ha sido
escrita por Jim.
