Abstract - In the following experience we will demonstrate the different steps to be able to melt a metal
(aluminum) starting from the basic concepts such as metal smelting in order to obtain a desired piece. First, we
will start from making a mold in sand but this mold must have a special feature and it must have a slightly larger
dimensions referring to the volume. The metal that is in a solid state must be taken from room temperature to
the pouring temperature. This temperature is one that is slightly higher at the melting temperature of all metals,
this is done by means of a special oven, we must have Keep in mind that this is a mass conservation process
that is: mi = mf. After we submit the metal to the heating we must pour it into a cupola, since having the mold
made in sand the last step would be the solidification of the metal, the last process we should only pour the
molten aluminum into the mold and then wait for a period of time ( not too long) for the metal to get the shape
of the mold and finally get the desired piece.
