1.- INTRODUCCIÓN.

instrucciones cuidadosamente antes de poner en marcha el equipo y guárdenlo para futuras consultas que puedan surgir.

1.2.- Utilizando este manual.

El propósito de este manual o publicación es el de proveer información relativa a la seguridad y explicaciones sobre los
procedimientos para la instalación y operación del equipo. Leer el manual detenidamente antes de su instalación,
cambio de emplazamiento, configuración o manipulación de cualquier índole, incluida la operación de puesta en
marcha y paro.
Guardar este documento para futuras consultas.
En las siguientes páginas los terminos “equipo” y “S.S.T.”, se refieren respectivamente al Sistema de Alimentación
Ininterrumpida o SAI, y al Servicio y Soporte Técnico.

Símbolo de «Atención». Leer atentamente el párrafo de texto y tomar las medidas preventivas indicadas.

Símbolo de «Peligro de descarga eléctrica». Prestar especial atención a este símbolo, tanto en la
indicación impresa sobre del equipo como en la de los párrafos de texto referidos en este Manual de
instrucciones.

Preservación del Medio Ambiente: La presencia de este símbolo en el producto o en su documentación


asociada indica que, al finalizar su ciclo de vida útil, éste no deberá eliminarse con los residuos domésticos.
Para evitar los posibles daños al medio ambiente separe este producto de otros residuos y recíclelo
adecuadamente.
Los usuarios pueden contactar con su proveedor o con las autoridades locales pertinentes para informarse
sobre cómo y dónde pueden llevar el producto para ser reciclado y/o eliminado correctamente.

2.- ASEGURAMIENTO DE LA CALIDAD Y NORMATIVA.

2.1.- Declaración de la dirección.

Nuestro objetivo es la satisfacción del cliente, por tanto esta Dirección ha decidido establecer una Política de Calidad
y Medio Ambiente, mediante la implantación de un Sistema de Gestión de la Calidad y Medio Ambiente que nos
convierta en capaces de cumplir con los requisitos exigidos en la norma ISO 9001 e ISO 14001 y también por
nuestros Clientes y Partes Interesadas.

Así mismo, la Dirección de la empresa está comprometida con el desarrollo y mejora del Sistema de Gestión de la
Calidad y Medio Ambiente, por medio de:

• La comunicación a toda la empresa de la importancia de satisfacer tanto los requisitos del cliente como los
legales y reglamentarios.

• La difusión de la Política de Calidad y Medio Ambiente y la fijación de los objetivos de la Calidad y Medio Ambiente.

• La realización de revisiones por la Dirección.

• El suministro de los recursos necesarios.

2.2.- Normativa.

El producto SOHO+ está diseñado, fabricado y comercializado de acuerdo con la norma EN ISO 9001 de
Aseguramiento de la Calidad. El marcado indica la conformidad a las Directivas de la CEE mediante la aplicación
de las normas siguientes:

• 2006/95/EC de Seguridad de Baja Tensión.

• 2004/108/EC de Compatibilidad Electromagnética (CEM).

Según las especificaciones de las normas armonizadas. Normas de referencia:

• EN-IEC 62040-1. Sistemas de alimentación ininterrumpida (SAI). Parte 1-1: Requisitos generales y de seguridad
para SAI utilizados en áreas de acceso a usuarios.

• EN-IEC 60950-1. Equipos de tecnología de la información. Seguridad. Parte 1: Requisitos generales.

• EN-IEC 62040-2. Sistemas de alimentación ininterrumpida (SAI). Parte 2: Requisitos CEM.

El fabricante no se hace responsable en caso de modificación o intervención sobre el equipo por parte del
usuario.

Este es un producto para su uso en aplicaciones comerciales e industriales y pueden ser necesarias
restricciones en la instalación o medidas adicionales para prevenir perturbaciones.

La declaración de conformidad CE del producto se encuentra a disposición del cliente previa petición
expresa a nuestras oficinas centrales.

2.3.- Seguridad y primeros auxilios.

• Junto con el equipo y este «Manual de instalación y operación» se suministra la información relativa a las
«Instrucciones de seguridad» (Ver documento EK266*08). Antes de proceder a la instalación o puesta en marcha,
comprobar que dispone de ambas informaciones; de lo contrario solicítelas. Es obligatorio el cumplimiento
relativo a las «Instrucciones de seguridad», siendo legalmente responsable el usuario en cuanto a su observancia.

• Los equipos provistos de toma de corriente de entrada con clavija y bases de salida, pueden ser conectados y
utilizados por personal sin ningún tipo de experiencia.

2.4.- Medio Ambiente.

Este producto ha sido diseñado para respetar el Medio Ambiente y fabricado según norma ISO 14001.

Reciclado del equipo al final de su vida útil:


Nuestra compañía se compromete a utilizar los servicios de sociedades autorizadas y conformes con la reglamen-
tación para que traten el conjunto de productos recuperados al final de su vida útil (póngase en contacto con su
distribuidor).

Embalaje:
Para el reciclado del embalaje, confórmese a las exigencias legales en vigor.

Baterías:
Las baterías representan un serio peligro para la salud y el medio ambiente. La eliminación de las mismas deberá
realizarse de acuerdo con las leyes vigentes.

Como se puede observar en la siguiente figura, el equipo dispone de un display LCD de serie, donde se reflejan la
tensión y frecuencia de entrada, la tensión y frecuencia de salida, y los indicadores de fallo, nivel de carga, capacidad
de la batería, modo línea y modo batería.

3.5.- Principio de funcionamiento.

El SPS es un Sistema de Alimentación Ininterrumpida Off-Line e interactivo (Estabilizador electrónico Boost-up/Back-down),


controlado por microprocesador. Con el equipo en marcha su funcionamiento es el siguiente:

• Con red presente comprendida entre 75 % al 125 % el SPS suministra tensión de salida a través del estabilizador,
además de cargar las baterías.

• En caso de red ausente o incorrecta (fuera de márgenes) el ondulador suministra energía de onda pseudosenoidal
a partir de las baterías, durante un tiempo limitado.

• Al restablecerse la red o retornar a sus márgenes correspondientes, la carga se alimenta de nuevo de la red
comercial previo filtrado, y a través del estabilizador.

• Adicionalmente, dispone de protección contra picos de tensión para la línea telefónica (Fax, Modem, ...), a través
de los conectores RJ-11/RJ-45.

• El mero hecho de estar conectado el equipo a la red comercial, las baterías se recargan.

• Si se sobrecarga el SPS en cualquiera de sus modos de funcionamiento, realizará un shutdown de la salida al


cabo de unos segundos:

Line Mode
110%+20%/-10%; shutdown a los 5 minutos y paso a modo fallo.
120%+20%/-10%; shutdown inmediato y paso a modo fallo.

Battery Mode
110%+20%/-10%; shutdown pasados 5 segundos.
120%+20%/-10%; shutdown inmediato.

• El equipo dispone de autodetección automática de la frecuencia de entrada, que se activa al conectarlo a la red
de alimentación.

• El SPS se suministra con un software de supervisión "Winpower Administrator" y un cable de conexión para utilizar
entre el equipo y su ordenador. Con ello se obtiene un funcionamiento inteligente, que proporciona una protección
perfecta de las cargas críticas.

4.- INSTALACIÓN.

4.1.- Importantes instrucciones de seguidad.

GUARDE ESTAS INTRUCCIONES –Este manual contiene importantes instrucciones para los modelos SOHO+ 400/
600/800/1000/1400/2000 VA que deberían seguirse durante la instalación y el mantenimiento del SAI y las baterías.

Seguridad – ATENCIÓN!

• Este SAI utiliza tensiones peligrosas. No intente desmantelar la unidad. La unidad no contiene elementos
reutilizables. Sólo personal autorizado de fábrica puede llevar a cabo reparaciones.

• La tensión interna de las baterías es de 12Vdc. Constan de 6 celdas, selladas y de plomo ácido.

• La conexión a cualquier otro tipo de enchufe diferente de dos polos o dos polos más tierra puede provocar daños
por electrocución así como violar las leyes eléctricas locales.

• En caso de emergencia, parar el SAI y desconectar el cable de red para deshabilitar apropiadamente el SAI.

• No permitir que cualquier líquido u objeto extraño entre en el SAI. No acercar líquidos a la unidad que puedan
derramarse.

• Esta unidad debe instalarse en un ambiente controlado (temperatura adecuada, instalación interior en atmósferas
libres de contaminantes conductivos). Evitar su instalación en ubicaciones suceptibles de mojarse o con una
humedad excesiva.

• No enchufar la entrada del SAI en su propia salida.

• No conectar bases de enchufes o supresores de sobretensiones al SAI.

• No conectar cargas no informáticas, tales como equipamiento médico, equipamiento de soporte vital, hornos
microondas o limpiadores de bomba de vacío.

• Para reducir el riesgo de sobretemperatura, no cubrir las rejillas de ventilación del SAI, evitar su exposición al sol
directo y no instalar la unidad cerca de fuentes emisoras de calor como estufas o calefactores.

• Desenchufar el SAI antes de su limpieza. No utilizar líquidos o sprays detergentes.

• No tirar las baterías al fuego. Pueden explotar.

• No abrir o mutilar las baterías. El vertido de electrolito es dañino para la piel y los ojos y es tóxico.

• Una batería puede presentar riesgo de electrocución y una gran intensidad de cortocircuito. Las siguientes
precauciones deberían ser observadas durante su manipulación:
1) Desprenderse de relojes, anillos o cualquier objeto metálico de las manos.
2) Use herramientas con mangos aislantes.
3) Llevar guantes de goma y botas.
4) No dejar herramientas u objetos metálicos sobre las baterías.
5) Desconectar las fuentes de carga antes de conectar o desconectar los terminales de baterías.

• El cambio de baterías debería ser llevado a cabo o supervisado por personal conocedor de las mismas y tomando
las precauciones adecuadas. El personal no autorizado ha de mantenerse apartado.

• Cuando cambie las baterías, reemplacelas con el mismo número de baterías selladas de plomo-ácido.

• Este equipamiento enchufable tipo A con baterías ya instaladas por el suministrador, es instalable y utilizable por
el usuario.

• Durante la instalación, debería asegurarse que la suma de las corrientes de fuga del SAI y de las cargas
conectadas no excediera los 3,5mA.

• La toma de enchufe que alimenta el SAI debería estar cerca del mismo y ser fácilmente accesible.

4.1.1.- A tener en cuenta.

• Es obligatorio el cumplimiento relativo a los “Avisos de seguridad”, siendo legalmente responsable el usuario en
cuanto a su observancia. Lea atentamente las mismas y siga los pasos indicados por el orden establecido.
Las normativas eléctricas locales y diferentes restricciones en el lugar del cliente, pueden invalidar algunas
recomendaciones contenidas en el manual. Donde existan discrepancias, el usuario debe cumplir las normas
locales pertinentes.
Las instrucciones e ilustraciones de este manual son genéricas para toda la serie y son una guía como referencia.
Si su modelo no equipa alguno de los elementos descritos, omitir toda referencia y proseguir. Por otra parte el
equipo se entrega debidamente identificado mediante serigrafía o etiquetado, prestar atención al mismo.

• Para períodos de desconexión prolongados, deberá considerarse la conexión del equipo cada cuatro meses
durante por lo menos 6 horas, con el fin de recargar las baterías, evitando de esta forma la degradación
irreversible de éstas. Por otra parte en caso de almacenar un equipo, se realizará en lugar fresco y seco, jamás
a la intemperie.

• No instale el equipo en ambientes corrosivos, polvorientos y jamás a la intemperie. Evite la luz solar directa.

• La ubicación será aireada, lejos de fuentes de calor y de fácil acceso. Dejar un espacio libre mínimo de 25 cm.
en la periferia del equipo para la circulación del aire de ventilación.
No obstruya las rejillas de ventilación ni introduzca objetos a través de las mismas u otros orificios.

• No coloque materiales encima de un equipo, ni elementos que impidan la visualización del frontal.

• Emplazar el equipo lo más cerca de la toma de corriente y de las cargas a alimentar.

• No limpie los equipos con productos abrasivos, corrosivos, líquidos o detergentes. Si desea limpiar el equipo, pase un paño
húmedo y seque a continuación. Evitar salpicaduras o vertidos que puedan introducirse por ranuras o rejillas de ventilación.

• A fin de evitar la descarga total de las baterías y como medida de seguridad después de un corte de larga duración
de la red comercial y al finalizar la jornada de trabajo, debe procederse al paro de las cargas y posteriormente al
del equipo siguiendo la operatoria descrita en el «Manual de instrucciones».

• Cuando deba sustituir un magnetotérmico, se hará por otro del mismo calibre, tipo y tamaño.
Instalar el SAI es fácil si se siguen los pasos mostrados a continuación. El comnutador de puesta en
marcha debe de permanecer en posición "ON" ya que, de lo contrario, el SAI permanecerá apagado y
sus cargas no estarán alimentadas.

4.1.2.- Avisos generales.

• El SPS es un equipo de continuidad de suministro. Si desaparece la red de alimentación cuando está en marcha,
las líneas de salida continúan con tensión dependiendo de la autonomía proporcionada por el grupo de baterías.

• Todas las conexiones se harán sin red presente y con el equipo en reposo.

• Las secciones de los cables utilizados para la alimentación del equipo y las cargas a alimentar, estarán en
consonancia con la corriente nominal indicada en la placa de características pegada en el equipo, respetando el
Reglamento Electrotécnico de Baja Tensión.

• Prestar especial atención al etiquetado del equipo que advierte del «Peligro de descarga eléctrica» e indicado como
( ). En el interior del equipo existen tensiones peligrosas, no abrir jamás la carcasa, el acceso debe efectuarlo
personal autorizado y competente. En caso de mantenimiento o avería, consultar al S.S.T. más próximo.

• Debe conectarse obligatoriamente la conexión de tierra de protección, asegurándose que ello se realiza antes de
conectar la tensión de entrada. El usuario debe de asegurarse que la toma de corriente corresponde al tipo
suministrado, con toma de tierra debidamente instalada y conectada a la tierra de protección local.

• Deben fijarse todos los cables eléctricos de alimentación de los equipos y de las cargas, a partes inamovibles, ya
que de lo contrario quedan expuestos a tirones.

4.1.3.- Avisos de seguridad respecto las baterías.

• La tensión de baterías representa un riesgo de electrocución y puede provocar altas corrientes de cortocircuito.
Antes de manipularlas, tomar las siguientes medidas preventivas:
- Desconectar los debidos elementos de protección y asegurarse que el equipo esté desactivado.
- Al conectar módulos de baterías con el equipo, respetar la polaridad indicada en el etiquetado de ambos.
- Llevar guantes y calzado de goma.
- Utilizar herramientas con mangos aisladas.
- Quitarse anillos, pulseras u otros objetos colgantes metálicos.
- No depositar herramientas ni objetos metálicos sobre las baterías.
- No cortocircuitar los bornes de baterías del equipo ni de los posibles módulos de baterías, peligro de explosión.

• No cortocircuitar los bornes de una batería por el alto riesgo que conlleva. Ello va en detrimento del equipo y de ellas
mismas.

• Evitar esfuerzos y choques mecánicos.

• Jamás debe exponerse una batería a altas temperaturas. Existe peligro de explosión.

• No romper la carcasa ni intentar abrirla. El electrólito interior es tóxico y dañino para la piel y ojos. En caso de
contacto del ácido con partes del cuerpo, enjuagar rápidamente con agua abundante y acudir urgentemente al
servicio médico más próximo.

• Las baterías representan un serio peligro para la salud y el medio ambiente, la eliminación de las mismas deberá
realizarse de acuerdo a las leyes vigentes.

• Al sustituir baterías, utilice otras de la misma tensión, capacidad y marca.

4.2.- Recepción del equipo.

4.2.1.- Desembalaje y comprobación del contenido.

• Al recepcionar el equipo verificar que no ha sufrido ningún percance durante el trasporte, por lo que es
conveniente desembalarlo para realizar una revisión ocular y comprobar que las características del mismo
corresponden a las especificadas en el pedido (ver placa características pegada en el embalaje). En caso contrario
de cualquier anomalía, realice las oportunas reclamaciones a su proveedor o en su falta a nuestra firma, citando
el nº de fabricación del equipo y las referencias del albarán de entrega.

• Una vez finalizada la recepción, aconsejamos guardar el equipo en su embalaje original hasta su puesta en
servicio con la finalidad de protegerlo contra posibles golpes, polvo, suciedad, etc. En todo caso, recomenda-
mos guardar el embalaje.

• El embalaje está compuesto de materiales reciclables, por lo que si va a desprenderse de él, elimínelo de acuerdo
a las leyes vigentes.

4.2.2.- Almacenaje.

• El almacenaje del equipo, se hará en un local seco, ventilado y al abrigo de la lluvia, proyecciones de agua o agentes
químicos. Es aconsejable mantener el equipo, en su embalaje original ya que ha sido específicamente diseñado para
asegurar al máximo la protección durante el transporte y almacenaje.

• El SPS incorpora baterías herméticas de plomo-calcio y su almacenaje no deberá de exceder de 4 meses


sin cargar las baterías durante por lo menos 6 horas. Ello implica la conexión del equipo a la red y su puesta en
marcha. Una vez recargadas las baterías, volver a guardarlo en su embalaje original.
No almacenar los aparatos en donde la temperatura ambiente exceda de 40º C o descienda de -20º C, ya que de
lo contrario puede revertir en la degradación de las características eléctricas de las baterías.

4.2.3.- Emplazamiento.

Instalar el SAI en cualquier ambiente protegido que garantice un adecuado flujo de aire, sin polvo excesivo,
ambientes corrosivos y contaminantes conductivos. No operar el SAI en un ambiente donde la temperatura
ambiente o la humedad sean altos. Además, ubicar el SAI a 20cm. del monitor, como mínimo, para evitar
interferencias.

4.2.4.- Carga de las baterías.

Esta unidad ha sido embalada en fábrica con su batería interna totalmente cargada. Sin embargo, durante el
transporte la batería ha podido perder parte de su carga, por lo que debería ser recargada antes de su uso. Enchufar
la unidad a una alimentación apropiada y dejar que se cargue durante al menos 8 horas (modelos 400/600/800 VA)
y 10 horas (modelos 1000/1400/2000 VA).

4.3.- Puertos de comunicación.

4.3.1.- Descripción y características.

La nueva serie SPS.SOHO+ incorpora un puerto USB con el que comunicarse con el exterior.

4.3.2.- Software installation.

WinPower es el nuevo software de monitorización para SAI, el cual dispone de un amigable interface para
monitorizarlo y controlarlo. Este software dispone de un auto shutdown para sistemas multi-PC en el caso de fallo de
suministro. Con este software, los usuarios pueden monitorizar y controlar cualquier SAI en la misma red LAN sin
importar lo lejos que se encuentre del aparato.

Procedimiento de instalación:

1. Insertar el CD. El asistente de instalación arrancará automáticamente. Seguir los pasos indicados por el mismo.
2. Cuando sea requerido, entrar el nº de serie que aparece impreso en el propio CD.

Cuando el ordenador se reinicie, el software WinPower aparecerá como un icono en forma de enchufe verde en la
bandeja del sistema, cerca del reloj.

5.- OPERACIÓN.

5.1.- Puesta en marcha y paro.

Para poner en marcha el SAI, presionar el botón de ON ligeramente. Para apagarlo, presionarlo de nuevo (cuando
está en marcha el LED está encendido).

5.2.- Display LCD.

El LED siempre lucerá mientras el SAI esté en marcha, aunque se encuentre en modo avería o descanso (rest mode).

En el momento en que el display LCD se active, mostrará toda la información durante 3s:

6.- MANTENIMIENTO, GARANTÍA Y SERVICIO.

6.1.- Guía básica de mantenimiento.

Las principales directrices para un correcto mantenimiento se asemejan a las que nuestro Servicio y Soporte Técnico
aplican en la modalidad de mantenimiento Preventivo (ver apartado 6.4).

6.2.- Guía de problemas y soluciones (Trouble Shooting).

Utilizar la tabla adjunta para resolver los problemas menores de instalación y operación del SAI. Si todavía persisten
anomalías en el sistema, contactar con el servicio técnico inmediatamente.

6.3.- Condiciones de la garantía.

SALICRU garantiza el producto contra todo defecto de materiales y/o mano de obra por un periodo de 24 meses a
contar desde su salida de fábrica. En caso de fallo del producto dentro del período de la presente garantía, SALICRU
deberá reponer el producto sin coste.

6.3.3.- Exclusiones.

SALICRU no estará obligado por la garantía si aprecia que el defecto en el producto no existe o fue causado por un
mal uso, negligencia, instalación y/o verificación inadecuadas, tentativas de reparación o modificación no autorizados,
o cualquier otra causa más allá del uso previsto, o por accidente, fuego, rayos u otros peligros. Tampoco cubrirá en
ningún caso indemnizaciones por daños o perjuicios.

7.2.- Glosario.

• Compatibilidad electromagnética.- Rama de la tecnología electrónica y de telecomunicaciones que se


ocupa de las interferencias entre equipos eléctricos y electrónicos. Se define (según la normativa internacional
recogida en el Informe Técnico de la Comisión Electrotécnica Internacional 61000-1-1) como «la capacidad de
cualquier aparato, equipo o sistema para funcionar de forma satisfactoria en su entorno electromagnético sin
provocar perturbaciones electromagnéticas sobre cualquier cosa de ese entorno».

• VA.- El voltampere es la unidad de la potencia aparente en corriente eléctrica. En la corriente directa o


continua es prácticamente igual a la potencia real pero en corriente alterna puede diferir de ésta dependiendo
del factor de potencia. Los voltamperes se obtienen del producto aritmético de la multiplicación del voltaje por
la intensidad.

• LCD.- LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) son las siglas en inglés de Pantalla de Cristal Líquido.

• Puerto serie.- Un puerto serie es una interfaz de comunicaciones entre ordenadores y periféricos en donde la
información es transmitida bit a bit enviando un solo bit a la vez, en contraste con el puerto paralelo que envía
varios bits a la vez.

• Módem.- Es el acrónimo de las palabras modulador/demodulador. El modulador emite una señal analógica
constante denominada portadora. Generalmente, se trata de una simple señal sinusoidal. A medida que se
desea transmitir datos digitales, se modifica alguna característica de la señal portadora, de manera que se
indica si se está transmitiendo un «cero» o un «uno».

• Magnetotérmico.- Un interruptor magnetotérmico basa su funcionamiento en dos de los efectos producidos


por la circulación de corriente eléctrica por un circuito, el magnético y el térmico (efecto Joule). El dispositivo
consta, por tanto, de dos partes, un electroimán y una lámina bimetálica, conectadas en serie y por las que
circula la corriente que va hacia la carga.

• LAN.- LAN es la abreviatura de Local Area Network (Red de Área Local o simplemente Red Local). Una red
local es la interconexión de varios ordenadores y periféricos. Su extensión esta limitada físicamente pp a un
edificio o a un entorno de unos pocos kilómetros. Su aplicación más extendida es la interconexión de
ordenadores personales y estaciones de trabajo en oficinas, fábricas, etc; para compartir recursos e intercam-
biar datos y aplicaciones.

• AVR.- Son las siglas en inglés de "Automatic Voltage Regulator", y designa el dispositivo capaz de estabilizar
la tensión eléctrica en su salida a unos valores preestablecidos (precisión) ante unas determinadas variaciones
de su entrada (márgen de regulación).

• Autonomía.- Tiempo previamente estipulado durante el cual un SAI será capaz de suministrar una tensión y
frecuencia fijas y una determinada corriente a las cargas que tenga conectadas en su salida.

• Tiempo de transferencia.- Designa el lapso de tiempo que transcurre en un SAI interactivo u Off-Line entre
que desaparece el suministro eléctrico en su entrada y el ondulador arranca y suministra una tensión en su
salida. Habitualmente está en torno a los pocos milisegundos.

headquarters offices.

2.3.- Safety and first aids.

• Together with the equipment and this «Installation and operating manual» is supplied the relative information to
«Safety instructions» (See document EK266*08). Before installing or starting up the equipment, check that both
documents are available; othwerwise request them. It is mandatory the compliance of the «Safety Instructions»,
being legally responsible the user for their observance. Once read, keep them for future consultations that can
arise.

• The equipments provided with power cord with plug and outlets, can be connected and used by personnel without
any kind of experience

2.4.- Environment.

This product has been designed to respect the environment and has been manufactured in accordance with the
standard ISO 14001.

3.5.- Operating principle.

The SPS is an off-line, interactive Uninterrupted Power Supply System (electronic Boost-up / Back-down
stabiliser),controlled by microprocessor. With the unit running, it works as follows:

• With the mains present at between 75 % and 125 % the SPS supplies output voltage through the stabiliser, as
wellas charging the batteries.

• In the event of mains absent or incorrect (off margins) the inverter supplies pseudo-sinusoidal wave energy from
the batteries for a limited time.

• When the mains returns or finds its corresponding margins, the charge is supplied once more from the commer-
cial mains after filtering, and also through the stabiliser.

• Additionally, it has protection against tension tips to the telephone line (Fax, Modem...), through connectors
RJ-11/RJ-45.

• The mere fact of the unit being connected to the mains means that the batteries are recharged.

• If the SPS is overloaded in any of its working modes and the load connected to the output is not reduced, the unit
will stop supplying output voltage in a few seconds:

Line Mode

• The unit has automatic detection of the input frequency, which is activated when it is connected to the
mainssupply.

• The SPS provides with a software of supervision «Winpower Administrator» and a cable of connection in order to
use between the equipment and its computer. With it an intelligent operation is obtained, that provides a perfect
protection of the loads.

4.- INSTALLATION.

4.1.- Important safety instructions.

SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS –This manual contains important instructions for models SOHO+ 400/600/800/
1000/1400/2000 VA that should be followed during installation and maintenance of the UPS and batteries.

Safety – CAUTION!

• This UPS utilizes voltages that may be hazardous. Do not attempt to disassemble the unit. The unit contains no
user serviceable parts. Only factory service personnel may perform repairs.

• Internal battery voltage is 12Vdc. Sealed, lead-acid, 6 cells battery.

• Connection to any other type of receptacle other than a two-pole, three-wire grounding receptacle may result in
shock hazard as well as violate local electrical codes.

• In the event of an emergency, turn the power switch to the «off» position and disconnect the power cord form the
AC power supply to properly disable the UPS.

• Do not allow any liquids or any foreign object to enter the UPS. Do not place beverages or any other liquid
containing vessels on or near the unit.

• This unit intended for installation in a controlled environment (temperature controlled, indoor area free of conductive
contaminants). Avoid installing the UPS in locations where there is standing or running water, or excessive humidity.

• Do not plug the UPS input into its own output.

• Do not attach a power strip or surge suppressor to the UPS.

• Do not attach non-computer-related items, such as medical equipment, life-support equipment, microwave
ovens, or vacuum cleaners to UPS.

• To reduce the risk or overheating the UPS, do not cover the UPS'cooling vents and avoid exposing the unit to direct
sunlight or installing the unit near heat emitting appliances such as space heaters or furnaces.

• Unplug the UPS prior to cleaning and do not use liquid or spray detergent.

• Do not dispose of battery or batteries in a fire. The battery may explode.

• Do not open or mutilate the battery or batteries. Released electrolyte is harmful to the skin and eyes. It may be toxic.

• A battery can present a risk of electrical shock and high short circuit current. The following precautions should be
observed when working on batteries :
1) Remove watches, rings, or other metal objects from the hand.
2) Use tools with insulated handles.
3) Wear rubber gloves and boots.
4) Do not lay tools or metal parts on the top of batteries.
5) Disconnect charging source prior to connecting or disconnecting batteries terminal.

• Servicing of batteries should be performed or supervised by personnel knowledgeable of batteries and the required
precautions. Keep unauthorized personnel away from batteries.

• When replacing batteries, replace with the same number of the sealed lead-acid batteries.

• This pluggable type A equipment with battery already installed by the supplier is operator installable and may be
operated by laymen.

• During the installation of this equipment it should be assured that the sum of the leakage currents of the UPS and
the connected loads does not exceed 3.5mA.

• The mains socket outlet that supplies the UPS shall be installed near the UPS and shall be easily accessible.

4.1.1.- To consider.

• It is a must to comply with the «Safety instructions», being the user the responsible of its observance. Read them
carefully and follow the stated steps in the stablished order. The local regulations and different restrictions at
client's site, may invalidate some recommendations contained in this manual. Where discrepancies exist, the user
must comply the pertinent local standards.
The instructions and drawings of this manual are generic for the complete series and they are mere reference. If
your model doesn't have any of the described parts, omit all reference to them and continue. On the other hand
the equipment is supplied completely tagged by means of serigraphy or labelling, pay attention at the same one.

• For long shutdown periods, the equipment must be connected every four months for 6 hours as minimum to
mains, in order to recharge the batteries, and to avoid as much as possible the irreversible degradation of them.
On the other hand, in case of unit storing, it must be placed in a cool and dry place, never outdoor.

• Do not install the equipment in corrosive, dusty environments and never outdoor. Avoid direct sunlight.

• The location must be cooled, far from heat sources and with easy access. Leave a minimum space of 25 cm.
around the equipment for the circulation of the cooling air.
Do not obstruct the cooling grids or insert objects through them or other wholes.

• Do not place materials on the equipment or elements that might prevent the front from being seen.

• Fit the unit as close as possible to the electrical mains outlet and to the loads to be supplied.

• Do not clean the unit with abrasive, corrosive, liquids or detergents products. If you wish to clean the unit, pass
a damp cloth and dry immediately. Avoid splashing or spilling, which might enter into the slots or cooling grids.

• In order to prevent the batteries from a complete discharge and as a safety measure after a long mains fault and
at the end of the working day, the loads must be shut down, followed by the shutdown of the unit too, according
to the operation described in the «User’s manual».

• When a magnetothermic has to be replaced, the replacement will have the same size and type.
Installing the UPS is as easy as following the steps shown. Be aware of the Power Switch must be kept
in the «ON» position, otherwise, the UPS will be disabled and your equipment will not be protected during
a power failure.

4.1.2.- General warnings.

• The SPS is a continuous supply unit. If there is a mains fault when it is running, the output lines still have voltage,
depending on the back up time given by the battery set.

• All connections will be made without electrical mains present and with the unit on rest.

• The cable cross sections used to feed the unit and the loads to be supplied will be in harmony with the nominal
current stated on the nameplate adhered to the unit, by respecting the Low Voltage Electro-technical standards.

• Pay special attention to the labelling of the equipment that warns of «Danger of electrical discharge « and
indicated as ( ). There are hazardous voltages inside the unit: never open the case, the access must only be
made by authorised and competent personnel. In the event of maintenance or failure, consult your closest S.T.S.

• The earth connection protection must be connected, making sure that it is already done before turning on the
input voltage. The user must be sure that the mains outlet corresponds to the supplied type, with earth connection
properly installed and connected to the local earth protection.

• All supplying electric cables of the unit and loads must be fixed to non-moving parts to prevent them from being
pulled.

4.1.3.- Warnings of security respect the batteries.

• The battery voltage presents a risk of electrocution and may cause high short-circuit currents. Before handling,
take the following preventive measures:
- Turn off the protection parts and make sure the unit is completely switched off.
- When connecting battery modules to the unit, respect the polarity stated on the labelling.
- Wear gloves and rubber footwear.
- Use tools with insulated handles.
- Remove all rings, bracelets and other hanging metal objects.
- Do not place tools or metal objects on the batteries.
- Do not short-circuit either the battery terminals of the unit or possible battery modules, due to risk of causing
an explosion.

• Do not short-circuit the battery terminals due to the high risk it means. This is harmful for the unit and for the
batteries themselves

• Avoid efforts and mechanical shocks.

• A battery must never be exposed to high temperatures, due to risk of explosion.

• Do not break the case or attempt to open it. The internal electrolyte is toxic and harmful to skin and eyes. In the
event of acid coming into contact with parts of the body, rinse rapidly with abundant water and go to the closest
medical service.

• The batteries are a serious hazard for health and environment and must be disposed in harmony with current
standards.

• When replacing the batteries, use other ones of the same voltage, capacity and brand.

4.2.- Equipment reception.

4.2.1.- Unpacking and contents checking.

• On receiving the unit, make sure that it has not been damaged in any way during transport, so it could be better
to unpack it to make a visual inspection and to check that the features of itself corresponds to those specified in
the order (See nameplate sticked to the packing). If it is damaged, make all suitable claims to your supplier or,
short of this, to our firm, by mentioning the serial number of the equipment and the references of the delivery
invoice.

• Having completed the reception, it is best to pack the equipment into its original packing until it is put into service
in order to protect it against possible mechanical impacts, dust, dirt, etc. In any case we recommend to keep the
packing.

• The packing is made of recycable materials, therefore if they are to be disposed, it must be done in accordance with
the effective laws.

4.2.2.- Storing.

• The unit must be stored in a dry and well-ventilated place and protected from the rain, water projections or
chemical agents. It is best to keep the unit in their original packing as this packing has been specifically designed
to ensure maximum protection during transport and storage.

• The SPS includes sealed lead-calcium batteries, and they should not be stored for more than 4 months
without recharging the batteries for 6 hours minimum. This means that the unit shall be connected to the
commercial mains and started up. Once the batteries are recharged return the equipment to its original packing.
Do not store the devices where the ambient temperature exceeds 40º C or falls below -20º C, otherwise it might
deteriorate the electrical characteristics of the batteries.

4.2.3.- Location.

Install the UPS unit in any protected environment that provides adequate airflow around the unit, and is free from
excessive dust, corrosive fumes and conductive contaminants. Do not operate your UPS in an environment where
the ambient temperature or humidity is high. On the other hand, place the UPS unit away from monitor at least
20cm to avoid interference.

4.2.4.- Battery charging.

This unit is shipped from the factory with its internal battery fully charged. however, some energy may be lost during
shipping so the battery should be recharged before using it. Plug the unit into an appropriate power supply and allow
the UPS to charge fully by leaving it plugged in for 8 hours.(models 400/600/800 VA) and for 10 hours (models 1000/
1400/2000 VA).

4.3.- Communication ports.

4.3.1.- Description and features.

New series SOHO+ incorporates a port USB with which to communicate with the outside.

4.3.2.- Software installation.

WinPower is a brand new UPS monitoring software, which provides user-friendly interface to monitor and control your
UPS. This unique software provides safely auto shutdown for multi-computer systems while power failure. With this
software, users can monitor and control any UPS on the same LAN no matter how far from the UPS.

Installation procedure:

1. To insert the CD. The installation assistant will start automatically. To follow the steps indicated by the same one.

2. When it is required, to enter nº of series that appears form in the own CD.

When your computer restarts, the WinPower software will appear as a green plug icon located in the system tray,
near the clock.

Plug incoming internet line into the «In» socket at the back of the UPS. Use one more Internet line cable and plug
one end of the Internet line cable to the «Out» socket at the back of the UPS. Plug the other end to the
modem input socket as shown.

To turn on the UPS unit, press the power switch lightly. To turn off the UPS unit, press the power switch again (When
switch ON the LED lighting.).

6.3.- Warranty conditions.

The limited warranty provided by SALICRU, S.A. is only valid for thoes products that you acquires for commercial
or industrial use in the normal operating of your business.

6.3.2.- Warranty terms.

SALICRU guarantees the product against any defect in both, parts and manpower for a period of 24 months from
the factory delivery date. In case of faulire in the product during the warranty period, SALICRU must replace the product
free.

6.3.3.- Exclusions.

SALICRU is not forced by the warranty if the failure in the product doesn't exist or was caused by a a wrong use,
negligence, unsuitable installation and/or testing, repairing intention or non-authorised modifications, or any other cause
beyond the foreseen use, or by accident, fire, lightnings or other dangers. Also the compensations for damages and
injuries are not covered.

7.2.- Glossary.

• Electromagnetic Compatibility.- Branch of the electronic and telecommunication technology that is in charge of
the interferences between the electric and electronic equipments. It is defined (in accordance with the interna-
tional standard collected on the Technical file of the International Electrotechnical Comission 61000-1-1) as «the
capacity of any device, equipment or system to operate in suitable way in its electromagnetic environment
without making electromagnetic perturbations over anything in that environment».

• VA.- Voltampere is the unit of the apparent power in alternating current. In the direct current is almost equal to
the real power but in the alternating current it can be different depending on the power factor. The voltamperes
are arithmetic product of the multiplication between the voltage and current.

• LCD.- LCD are the English acronyms of Liquid Crystal Display.

• Serial port.- A serial port is a communication interface among computers and peripherals, where the data is
transmitted bit by bit and sending one bit only every time, meanwhile the parallel port sends several bits at the
same time.

• Modem.- It is the acronym of the words modulator/demodulator. Modulador sends a constant analogical signal
called holder. Generally, it is a simple sinewave. When digital data needs to be sent, it is modified any character-
istic of the holder signal, therefore it is stating if it is sending a «zero» or «one».

• Circuit breaker.- A circuit breaker is based in the operation of two effects made by the electrical current
circulation in a circuit, the magnetic and thermal (Joule effect). So, the device has two parts, an electromagnetic
and a bimetal plate, connected in series and the current is circulating through them to the load.

• LAN.- LAN is the acronym of Local Area Network or just Local Network. A local network interconnects several
computers and peripherals. Its extension is physically limited to one building or to one surrounding of a few
kilometers. Its most extended application is the interconnection of personal computers and workstations in offices,
factories, etc; to share resources and to exchange data and applications.

• AVR.- It is the acronym of Automatic Voltage Regulator, and it is a device ready to stabilize the output electrical
voltage to preset values (accuracy) in front of fluctuations at its input (input range).

• Autonomy.- It is the time, previously specified, during which the UPS is able to supply a fixed voltage and
frequency and a certain current to the loads connected to is output.

• Transfer time.- It is the time that lapses in a Line Interactive or Off-Line UPS when the input mains faults and the
inverter starts up and supplies output voltage. Usually it is around a few miliseconds.

2.3.- Sécurité et premiers soins.

• Les informations relatives aux « Instructions de sécurité » (Voir document EK266*08) sont fournies avec l’équipe-
ment et ce « Manuel d’installation et d’opération ». Avant de procéder à l’installation ou mise en marche, vérifier
que vous disposez des deux informations ; dans le cas contraire demandez-les. Il est obligatoire de respecter ce
qui concerne les « Instructions de sécurité », l’utilisateur étant légalement responsable de leur observation. Une
fois lues, gardez-les pour de futures consultations.

• Les équipements prévus avec prise de courant en entrée, avec cheville et bases de sortie, puevent être branchés et
employés sans aucun type d’expérience.

3.5.- Principe de fonctionnement.

Le SPS est un système d’alimentation sans interruption Off-Line et interactif (stabilisateur électronique Boost-up/
Back-down), contrôlé par microprocesseur. Avec l’équipement en marche, son fonctionnement est le suivant :

• Avec le réseau présent compris entre 75 % et 125 % le SPS fournit une tension de sortie au travers du stabilisateur,
en plus de charger les batteries.

• En cas de réseau absent ou incorrect (hors des marges), l’onduleur fournit une énergie à onde pseudo-sinusoïdale
à partir des batteries, pendant une durée limitée.

• Lorsque le réseau se rétablit ou lorsqu’il revient à ses marges correspondantes, la charge se réalimente du réseau
commercial préalable filtré, et au travers du stabilisateur.

• De plus, il dispose d’un système de protection contre les pics de tension pour la ligne téléphonique (Fax,
Modem, ...), au travers des connecteurs RJ-11/RJ-45.

• Le simple fait que l’équipement soit connecté au réseau commercial fait en sorte que les batteries se rechargent.

• Si le SPS est surchargé dans l’un des ses modes de fonctionnement, il réalisera un shutdown de la sortie à partir
de quelques secondes.

4.- INSTALLATION.

4.1.- Instructions importantes de sécurité.

GARDEZ CES INSTRUCTIONS –Ce manuel contient d’importantes instructions pour les modèles SOHO+ 400/600/
800/1000/1400/2000 VA qui doivent être suivies pendant l’installation et la maintenance du ASI et des batteries.

Sécurité – ATTENTION !

• Cet ASI utilise des tensions dangereuses. Ne pas essayer de démanteler l’unité. L’unité ne contient pas d’éléments
réutilisables. Seul le personnel autorisé de l’usine peut réaliser des réparations.

• La tension interne des batteries est de 12V cc. Elles possèdent 6 cellules, scellées et au plomb acide.

• La connexion à tout autre type de prise différente à deux pôles ou deux pôles plus la terre peut provoquer des
dommages par électrocution de même qu’enfreindre les lois électriques locales.

• En cas d’urgence, arrêter l'ASI et déconnecter le câble de réseau pour désactiver correctement l'ASI.

• Ne pas permettre que n’importe quel liquide ou corps étranger pénètre dans l'ASI. Ne pas approcher de liquides
qui pourraient se renverser.

• Cette unité doit être installée dans un cadre contrôlé (température appropriée, installation intérieure dans des
atmosphères sans pollution de conduction). Éviter son installation dans des emplacements susceptibles d’être
mouillés ou avec une humidité excessive.

• Ne pas brancher l’entrée de l'ASI sur sa propre sortie.

• Ne pas connecter les bases des prises ou suppresseurs de surtensions à l'ASI.

• Ne pas connecter de charges non informatiques, comme un équipement médical, un équipement d’aide vital, des
fours à micro-ondes ou des nettoyeurs à pompe à vide.

• Pour réduire le risque de surchauffe, ne pas couvrir les grilles de ventilation de l'ASI, éviter toute exposition directe
au soleil et ne pas installer l’unité à proximité de sources de chaleur telles que les chauffages.

• Débrancher l'ASI avant son nettoyage. Ne pas utiliser de liquides ou de sprays détergents.

• Ne pas jeter les batteries au feu. Elles peuvent exploser.

• Ne pas ouvrir ou détruire les batteries. Le versement d’électrolyte est dangereux pour la peau et les yeux, et très
toxique.

• Une batterie peut présenter des risques d’électrocution et une grande intensité de court-circuit. Les précautions
suivantes doivent être respectées pendant sa manipulation :
1) Enlever montres, bagues ou tout autre objet métallique des mains.
2) Utilisez des outils avec des poignées isolantes.
3) Porter des gants en caoutchouc et des bottes.
4) Ne pas laisser d’outils ou d’objets métalliques sur les batteries.
5) Déconnecter les sources de charge avant de connecter ou déconnecter les bornes des batteries.

• Le changement de batteries doit être réalisé ou supervisé par du personnel habilité et en prenant les précautions
appropriées. Le personnel non autorisé doit être tenu éloigné.

• Lorsque vous changez les batteries, remplacez-les par le même nombre de batteries scellées au plomb acide.

• Cet équipement connectable type A avec batteries déjà installées par le fournisseur, peut être installé et utilisé par
l’utilisateur.

• Lors de l’installation, vous devrez vous assurer que la somme des courants de fuite de l'ASI et des charges
connectées ne dépassera pas les 3,5mA.

• La prise qui alimente l'ASI devra être proche de celui-ci et être facilement accessible.

4.1.1.- À prendre en compte.

• Le respect des « avis de sécurité » est obligatoire, l’utilisateur étant légalement responsable de leur observation.
Lisez-les attentivement et suivez les étapes indiquées par l’ordre établi. Les normes électriques locales et les
différentes restrictions chez le client, peuvent rendre certaines recommandations contenues dans le manuel non
valables. S’il existe des différences, l’utilisateur doit respecter les normes locales pertinentes.
Les instructions et illustrations de ce manuel sont générales à toute la série et servent de guide de référence. Si votre
modèle n’est pas équipé de l’un des éléments décrits, oubliez toute référence à celui-ci et poursuivez. D’autre part,
l’équipement est livré dûment identifié au moyen d’une sérigraphie ou d’un étiquetage, faites-y attention.

• Lors de périodes de déconnexion prolongées, vous devrez penser à connecter l’équipement pendant au moins 6
heures tous les quatre mois, afin que les batteries se rechargent, évitant ainsi leur dégradation irréversible. D’autre
part, en cas de stockage d’un équipement, cela se fera dans un endroit sec et frais, jamais livré aux intempéries.

• Ne pas installer l’équipement dans des endroits corrosifs, poussiéreux et livré aux intempéries. Éviter la lumière
directe du soleil.

• L’emplacement sera aéré, éloigné des sources de chaleur et facile d’accès. Laisser un espace libre d’au moins 25
cm autour de l’équipement pour la circulation de l’air.
Ne pas boucher les grilles de ventilation ou y introduire des objets ainsi que dans d’autres orifices.

• Ne pas mettre de matériel au-dessus d’un équipement, ni d’éléments qui empêchent la vue de face.

• Placer l’équipement le plus près possible de la prise de courant et des charges à alimenter.

• Ne pas nettoyer les équipements avec des produits abrasifs, corrosifs, liquides ou détergents. Si vous souhaitez
nettoyer l’équipement, passer un chiffon humide et sécher-le. Éviter les éclaboussures ou les déversements qui
pourraient pénétrés dans les rainures ou grilles de ventilation.

• Afin d’éviter le déchargement total des batteries et, comme mesure de sécurité, après une longue coupure du
réseau commercial et à la fin de la journée de travail, vous devez arrêtez les charges puis l’équipement en suivant
le mode opératoire décrit dans le « Manuel d’instructions ».

• Lorsque vous devez remplacer un magneto-thermique, cela se fera par un autre de même calibre, type et taille.
Installer l'ASI est facile si vous suivez les étapes exposées ci-après. Le commutateur de mise en
marche doit rester en position «ON» car, dans le cas contraire, l'ASI restera éteint et ses charges ne
seront pas alimentés.

4.1.2.- Avertissements généraux.

• Le SPS est un équipement à alimentation continue. Si le réseau d’alimentation disparaît lorsqu’il est en marche, les
lignes de sortie sont toujours sous tension puisqu’elles dépendent de l’autonomie offerte par le groupe de batteries.

• Toutes les connexions se feront sans réseau et avec l’équipement au repos.

• Les sections des câbles utilisés pour l’alimentation de l’équipement et les charges à alimenter, seront conformes
au courant nominal indiqué sur la plaque des caractéristiques collée sur l’équipement, respectant le règlement
électrotechnique de basse tension.

• Faites particulièrement attention à l’étiquette de l’équipement qui avertit du « Danger de décharge électrique » et indiqué
par ( ). À l’intérieur de l’équipement, il existe des tensions dangereuses, ne jamais ouvrir la carcasse, l’accès doit être
effectué par du personnel autorisé et compétent. En cas de maintenance ou d’avarie, consulter le S.S.T. le plus proche.

• Vous devez obligatoirement connecter la prise de terre par protection, en vous assurant que cela est fait avant de
connecter la tension d’entrée. L’utilisateur doit s’assurer que la prise de courant correspond au type fourni, avec
la prise de terre dûment installée et connectée à la terre de protection locale.

• Tous les câbles électriques d’alimentation des équipements et des charges doivent être fixés à des parties
inamovibles, puisque, dans le cas contraire, ils seraient exposés à des tensions.

4.1.3.- Avis de sécurité en ce qui concerne les batteries.

• La tension des batteries représente un risque d’électrocution et peut provoquer des hauts courants de court-
circuit. Avant de les manipuler, prenez les mesures préventives suivantes :
- Déconnecter les éléments de protection et assurez-vous que l’équipement est désactivé.
- En connectant les modules de batteries avec l’équipement, respectez la polarité indiquée sur l’étiquette des deux.
- Porter des gants et des chaussures en caoutchouc.
- Utiliser des outils avec des poignées isolantes.
- Enlever bagues, bracelets ou autres objets métalliques.
- Ne pas déposer d’outils ou d’objets métalliques sur les batteries.
- Ne pas court-circuiter les bornes des batteries de l’équipement ni les possibles modules de batteries, danger
d’explosion.

• Ne pas court-circuiter les bornes d’une batterie à cause du grand risque que cela comporte. Cela sera au
détriment de l’équipement et de celles-ci.

• Éviter les efforts et les chocs mécaniques.

• Une batterie ne doit jamais être exposée à de fortes températures. Il existe un danger d’explosion.

• Ne pas casser la carcasse ou tenter de l’ouvrir. L’électrolyte à l’intérieur est toxique et dangereuse pour la peau et
les yeux. En cas de contact de l’acide avec une partie du corps, rincer abondamment à l’eau, et se rendre de toute
urgence chez le médecin le plus proche.

• Les batteries représentent un danger sérieux pour la santé et l’environnement, leur élimination devra être réalisée
en accord avec les lois en vigueur.

• En remplaçant les batteries, utilisez-en d’autres avec les mêmes tension, capacité et marque.

4.2.- Réception de l’équipement.

4.2.1.- Déballage et vérification du contenu.

• En recevant l’équipement, vérifier qu’il n’a souffert d’aucune avarie pendant le transport, c’est pourquoi il est
indispensable de le déballer pour réaliser une révision visuelle et vérifier que ses caractéristiques correspondent à
celles spécifiées dans la commande (voir la plaque de caractéristiques collée sur l’emballage). Dans le cas
d’anomalie, faites les réclamations opportunes au fournisseur ou le cas échéant à notre société, en mentionnant
le nº de fabrication de l’équipement et les références du bon de livraison.

• Une fois la réception réalisée, nous vous conseillons de garder l’équipement dans son emballage d’origine jusqu’à
sa mise en service dans le but de le protéger contre d’éventuels coups, la poussière, la saleté, etc. Dans tous les
cas, nous vous recommandons de garder l’emballage.

• L’emballage est composé de matériaux recyclables, si vous voulez vous en débarrasser, éliminez-le selon les lois
en vigueur.

4.2.2.- Stockage.

• Le stockage de l’équipement se fera dans un local sec, ventilé et protégé de la pluie, des projections d’eau ou
d’agents chimiques. Il est conseillé de maintenir l’équipement, dans son emballage d’origine puisqu’il a été
spécifiquement conçu pour assurer la protection maximum pendant le transport et le stockage.

• Le SPS comprend des batteries hermétiques au plomb calcium et leur stockage ne devra pas dépasser 4
mois sans recharge des batteries pendant au moins 6 heures. Cela implique la connexion de l’équipement au
réseau et sa mise en marche. Une fois les batteries rechargées, conservez-le dans son emballage d’origine.
Ne pas stocker les appareils à des endroits où la température est de 40º C ou descend à -20º C, puisque cela
pourrait endommager les caractéristiques électriques des batteries.

4.2.3.- Emplacement.

Installer le SAI dans n’importe quel endroit protégé qui garantirait un flux d’air, sans poussière excessive,
atmosphère corrosive et pollution de conduction. Ne pas faire fonctionner le SAI dans un endroit où la tempéra-
ture ambiante ou l’humidité sont élevées. De plus, placer le SAI à 20 cm du moniteur, pour éviter les interférences.

4.2.4.- Chargement des batteries.

Cette unité a été emballée en usine avec sa batterie interne entièrement chargée. Cependant, pendant le transport
la batterie a pu perdre de sa charge, c’est pourquoi elle devra être rechargée avant son utilisation. Branchez l’unité
à une alimentation appropriée et laissez-la se charger pendant au moins 8 heures (modèles 400/600/800 VA) et 10
heures (modèles 1000/ 1400/2000 VA).

4.3.- Ports de communication.

4.3.1.- Description et caractéristiques.

La nouvelle série SPS.SOHO+ comprend un port USB avec lequel communiquer avec l’extérieur.

4.3.2.- Installation du software.

WinPower est le nouveau software de surveillance pour ASI, il dispose d’une interface conviviale pour le surveiller et
le contrôler. Ce software dispose d’un auto shutdown pour systèmes multi-PC en cas de panne d’alimentation. Avec
ce software, les utilisateurs peuvent surveiller et contrôler tout ASI sur le même réseau LAN, même s’ils se trouvent
loin de l’appareil.

Procédure d’installation :

1. Insérer le CD. L'assistante d'installation démarrera automatiquement. Suivre les pas indiqués par ce dernier.

2. Lors qu'il soit demandé, entrer le nº série qui apparaisse imprimé sur le propre CD.

Lorsque le PC se réinitialise, le software WinPower apparaîtra comme un icône vert dans la barre des tâches du
système, à côté de l’horloge.

extrémité dans le connecteur «Out» derrière l'ASI et l’autre extrémité dans le connecteur d’entrée au modem comme
indiqué ci-après.

5.1.- Marche / Arrêt.

Pour mettre en marche l'ASI, appuyer légèrement sur le bouton ON. Pour l’arrêter, appuyer à nouveau dessus (lorsqu’il
est en marche le voyant est allumé).

5.2.- Écran LCD.

Le voyant restera allumé tant que l'ASI est en marche, même s’il se trouve en mode panne ou mode repos.

6.3.- Conditions de garantie.

La garantie limitée fournie par SALICRU, S.A. s’applique seulement aux produits que vous acquérez pour un
usage commercial ou industriel lors d’un développement normal de vos activités.

6.3.2.- Termes de la garantie.

SALICRU garantit le produit contre tout défaut de matériaux et/ou main d’œuvre pour une période de 24 mois à
compter de sa sortie d’usine. En cas de défaut d’un produit pendant la période de garantie, SALICRU devra réparer
le produit sans aucun coût.

6.3.3.- Exclusions.

SALICRU ne sera pas tenu par la garantie si elle estime qu’il n’y a pas de défaut dans le produit ou s’il a été causé
par une mauvaise utilisation, négligence, installation et/ou vérification inappropriées, des tentatives de réparation ou
de modification non autorisées, ou toute autre cause en dehors de l’usage prévu, ou bien par un accident, un feu,
la foudre ou d’autres dangers. Elle ne paiera pas non plus d’indemnisations pour dommages et préjudices.

7.2.- Glossaire.

• Compatibilité électromagnétique.- Branche de la technologie électronique et des télécommunications qui


s’occupe des interférences entre les équipements électriques et électroniques. Elle est définie (selon la norme
internationale recueillie dans le rapport de la commission électrotechnique internationale 61000-1-1) comme « la
capacité de tout appareil, équipement ou système à fonctionner de façon satisfaisante dans son environnement
électromagnétique sans provoquer de perturbations électromagnétiques sur toute chose de son environnement ».

• VA.- Le voltampère est l’unité de puissance de l’appareil en courant électrique. Dans le courant direct ou continu
il est pratiquement égal à la puissance réelle mais en courant alternatif il peut en différer selon le facteur de
puissance. Les voltampères sont obtenus du produit arithmétique de la multiplication de la tension par l’intensité.

• LCD.- LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) sont les sigles en anglais d’écran à cristaux liquides.

• Port série.- Un port série est une interface de communications entre ordinateurs et périphériques où l’information
est transmise bit à bit en envoyant un seul bit à la fois, contrairement au port parallèle qui envoie plusieurs bits à
la fois.

• Modem.- C‘est l’acronyme des mots modulateur/démodulateur. Le modulateur émet un signal numérique cons-
tant appelé porteur. Généralement, il s’agit d’un simple signal sinusoïdal. À mesure que vous souhaitez transmettre
des données numériques, une caractéristique du signal porteur est modifiée, de façon à ce qu’il indique si c’est
un « zéro » ou un « un » qui est transmis.

• Magnétothermique.- Un interrupteur magnétothermique base son fonctionnement sur deux des effets produits
par la circulation de courant électrique dans un circuit, le magnétique et le thermique (effet Joule). Le dispositif
bénéficie, par conséquent, de deux parties, un électroaimant et une lame bimétallique, connectées en série et
dans lesquels circule le courant qui va vers la charge.

• LAN.- LAN est l’abréviation de Local Area Network (Réseau de secteur local ou simplement réseau local). Un
réseau local est l’interconnexion de plusieurs ordinateurs et périphériques. Son extension est limitée physiquement
à un édifice ou à un environnement de peu de kilomètres. Son application la plus étendue est l’interconnexion
d’ordinateurs personnels et de stations de travail dans des bureaux, des usines, etc., pour partager des ressources
et échanger des données et des applications.

• AVR.- Ce sont les initiales en anglais de «Automatic Voltage Regulator», et cela désigne le dispositif capable de
stabiliser la tension électrique à sa sortie à des valeurs préétablies (précision) face à certaines variations de son
entrée (marge de régulation).

• Autonomie.- Temps préalablement stipulé pendant lequel un SAI sera capable de fournir une tension et une
fréquence fixes et un certain courant aux charges connectées à sa sortie.

Chapter 1 Winpower Introduction
1. Winpower profile

Winpower is a device monitoring software, which supports individual computer and computers
connected with network (including LAN & WAN).

It is used to monitor the intelligent device to protect computer systems from being shut down
abnormally when power fails. User can monitor and configure the device on any computer in the
same LAN. With the software, a device can provide security protection for more than one computer
at the same time, including shutting down system in security, saving application data and shutting
down the UPS when power fails.

Note: the diagrams about communication between software and UPS shown in the following
chapters are just for reference. For different model UPS, the display could be different.
2. Winpower Structure
Winpower contains three components: Agent, Monitor and TrayIcon.

Note The concrete meaning of Agent refer to Appendix A — glossary explanation.

Agent is the key component of Winpower and runs as a system service on background. Agent
communicates with the device, logs events, notifies users when UPS’s event happens, arranges
actions according to user's requirement and impending shutdown when necessary. Furthermore,
Agent can be managed by Monitor.
Monitor is the user interface application of Winpower. Relying on Agent, it gathers real-time
information and status of the device, server information and allows user to set the control
parameters of the device. It can run on any computer (individual or connected with network).
TrayIcon is the management tool of Winpower. It exists on Windows platform only. It appears in
the Status Area of System task bar. TrayIcon has two different icons to display the current Agent
status. The icons and the related status, please refer to the following table 1-2-1.

Indicate the Agent is Stopped.

 When Agent is started, it will protect your equipment continuously in every moment.
 Uninstalled easily and clearly with no trace. Never increase the spending of system.
 You can have a detailed view about all information of the device, such as utility power,
device type, load and battery. The information is shown in the same window, so you can
take all the information in a glance.
 With the function of searching automatically and monitoring any device in the LAN.
 With the function of searching manually and monitoring any device in the Internet.
 With security protect function. The software administrator password can be set to prevent
others from sabotaging. Only the software administrator has the right of full access, other
users only have the right of view.
 With the function of data auto protection, it can close most of the running applications and
save the related files.
 With the function of time turning on and off the device, it can give maximum protection to
your computer system.
 With the function of time self-test of the UPS, it can provide maximum protection to your
UPS system.
 With the function of shutting down system by network, it supplies your system maximum
protection.
 With the function of data logging (including utility power, device type, load and battery) and
event logging, so that the software administrator can carry out the device system daily
maintenance.
 Flexible means of information transfer let you know the device status at any moment and
anywhere, never miss any one even though the change of time and place.
 With the function of broadcasting messages to every users in the network.
 With the function of sending messages via pager.
 With the function of sending messages by Email.
 With the function of sending SMS messages via mobile phone.

Chapter 2 Winpower Installation, Start & Uninstall
1. System Requirements
 128 MB physical memory at least (256MB is recommended)
 160 MB hard disk space at least
 More than 256 colors and 800 * 600 resolutions or above display is recommended
 The user is required to have the right as system administrator
 On Linux or UNIX operating system, user must log in system with “root” account to carry
out the installation. After installation finished, system need to be reboot
 TCP/IP protocol must be installed to support network management
 An available communication port (RS-232 Serial Port or USB port) is needed while
connecting to device with a special communication cable.

3. Winpower Installation Steps


Note: The installation must be started with “root” account in Linux and UNIX systems! And
after installation you must restart the system!

Enter the right directory of the CD according the system platform type.

For GUI mode environment:


 Insert the Winpower CD, find out the operate system of your computer in the CD directory,
Refer to Diagram 2-3-1 as below.

For Windows platform, enter \Windows directory, run setup.exe to start the installation. Refer to
the following diagram 2-3-2-1.

Note: For windows vista, windows 7 and windows 2008, enter \Windows directory, you
should run setup.exe as an administrator. Right click on the setup icon, then select “Run as
administrator”, a “user account control” dialog will pop up, please select “Allow”. Refer to
the following diagram 2-3-2-2.

For Mac OS X platform, enter \MacOSX directory, double click the setup to start the installation.

If the software is installed successfully, winpower application can be found in the Start
menu\Programs\. Refer to the following diagram 2-3-11.

For console mode environment:
1. Enter the directory according the system, run setup.bin or setup_console.bin to start the
installation program.
Note: For UnixWare platform, make sure JRE has been installed in your system,
then enter the /GenericUnix directory to start the setup.
2. Read the information provided, press ENTER to continue the installation.
3. When the installation program is completed, click “Done”.
4. Reboot the Linux and UNIX system after installation.
The installation will set environment variables for Winpower in /etc/profile file. (For details to see
'Set environment variable' below). Reboot the system in order to make the setting valid.

4. Start/Stop Winpower
In Windows operating system
 Start Agent:
Run the Winpower from Start\Program\Winpower will start the TrayIcon and Agent. For windows7
operating system, you should restart computer after the first installation.

The Agent can be start by the following methods:


1) Run the Winpower from Start\Program\Winpower will start the TrayIcon and Agent. Refer to
diagram 2-4-1.
2) Right click the agent icon shown on the bottom right corner of the display and select the “Start
Agent” item. Refer to Diagram 2-4-2.

3) On all Windows operating system, agent can be started automatically when the computer
reboots.

To start the Monitor, right click the TrayIcon, and select “Start Monitor”, or double click the icon.

Right click the TrayIcon and select the "Start Monitor" item. Refer to Diagram 2-4-3.

 Stop Agent:
Right click the TrayIcon and select the "Stop Agent" menu item. Refer to the following diagram 2-

 Exit:
On Windows vista, Windows 2008 and Windows7, if you want to exit, right click the winpower
Software tray icon, and select “Exit”. Once you exit it, you should restart the computer to start it
automatically. But if you have administrator privilege, you can start it again without restart computer.
There are two steps: the first to start the agent, open the “Services” from the “Start menu” > “Control
Panel” > “Administrative tools”, and find the service “UPSmonitor”, right click on it, select “Start”. The
second to start TrayIcon, click the winpower software from Start menu > Program \ Winpower.

For other windows OS, to exit, right click the winpower Software tray icon, and select “Exit”. If you
want to start TrayIcon, just click the winpower soft from Start menu > Program \ Winpower.

On Mac OS X

Set Agent to be auto started when System boots:
Open “System Preferences -> Accounts -> Login items”; click “+” icon to add the
“Applications/Winpower/Agent” as Login auto start item. Refer to the following diagram 2-4-5.

Start Agent:
You can double click the agent link in "Applications/Winpower" directory to start the Agent.
You can also start it in terminal by enter install directory and execute command:
Enter “/opt/MonitorSoftware” directory and execute command: ./agent start
Start Monitor:
Double click the executable monitor link in "Applications/Winpower" directory to start Monitor.
You can also start it in terminal by enter install directory and execute command:./monitor

Stop Agent:
Enter install directory and execute command:
./agent stop

On Linux and UNIX:

Start Agent:
Enter “/opt/MonitorSoftware” directory and execute command:
./agent start

Start Monitor:

5. Uninstall Winpower
On Windows operating system
There are two methods of uninstalling Winpower
 One is to click “Uninstall Winpower” icon in “Start/Program/Winpower” with left mouse button,
refer to Diagram 2-5-1 as below.

Note: On Windows Vista, Windows 2008 and Windows 7, make sure you have administrator
privilege, right click and select “Run as administrator”.

 The other is to left click “Control Panel/”Add/Remove Program”/Change/Remove(C)” button,


refer to Diagram 2-5-2 as below.

Note: Before uninstalling Winpower, you must stop all Winpower program first! Otherwise
it can't be uninstalled completely.

 After left click, the Uninstall Program will pop up a dialog shown on Diagram 2-5-3 as below.

Click the “Uninstall” to begin to uninstall Winpower software, refer to the following diagram 2-5-4.

Open the Terminal from “Applications/Utilities/Terminal”, execute commands:


cd /opt/MoniorSoftware
sudo ./Uninstall
Input the system account password when it prompts, and uninstall will be carried out with
administrator privilege. The software can be uninstalled completely.
If you only execute the command”./Uninstall”, maybe some files of the software can’t be
uninstalled.

On Linux and UNIX:

Open the Terminal, enter "/opt/MonitorSoftware" directory and execute command:./Uninstall

Chapter 3 Winpower User Interface
1. "Winpower Manager" window

Winpower Monitor shows "Winpower Manager" window, which displays a list of agents within the
LAN.

There is a tree view on the left side of the window, which displays a hierarchical list of items. Such
as “Root”, “networks”, the Agent, the COM port, USB port and the UPS or ATS models or telecom
power. By clicking an item for UPS, the user can expand or collapse the associated list of submenu.

If you select one of the UPS model from the List, details about it will be displayed on the right side,

1. The middle area displays the UPS Status Figure. The Status Figure is different according to
various UPS status and UPS type.
2. The upper area displays the UPS Status Description and recommendation, and the Agent
system times with right align.
3. The lower area displays last two events information.
4. It is able to minimize the window by clicking the minimum button on the top right corner of the
window.
5. It is able to exit from the system by clicking “X”.

The UPS status figure contains five parts: AC LINE, UPS, BATTERY LOAD and BYPASS.

If you select one of the telecom power models from the List, details about it will be displayed on
the right side, Refer to the following diagram 3-1-2-2:

1. The middle area displays the telecom power Status Figure. The Status Figure is different
according to telecom power status. If there is something wrong with some module, the related
figure will turn red. For example, STS in above figure. Otherwise, it is green or white.

2. The upper area displays the telecom power Status Description. If one or more module of inverter,
STS, or rectifier has broken, it will show “inverter/STS/rectifier warning & fault” in red instead of
detail warning or fault. If you would like to know the details, please select the module, and you
will see more details about every module. Refer to the following diagram 3-1-2-3.

If you select one of ATS models from the List, details about it will be displayed on the right side,

1. The top area displays the manufacturer and model name of ATS. Sometimes, the manufacturer
may not be shown. For example, “ATS” means that the model name is ATS. The bottom area
displays the serial number and firmware version of ATS.
2. The middle area displays the ATS Status Figure. There are five lights: S1, S2, SW1, SW2, F1
and three information frames. Also, there are some current lines in black or green.
3. The S1 is black when Input source 1 failed (no power on source). It will flash when the voltage or
frequency of source 1 is out of range or source 1 is unstable. It is green when source1 is OK.
The S2 for source 2 is the same. The SW1 is green when the load is powered by input source 1.
Otherwise, it is black. The SW2 is the same. The F1 in red indicates that the faults are detected,
such as overload fault, stick fault or over current. Otherwise, the F1 is green.
4. The information frame on the left of S1 displays the input voltage and frequency of Source 1. S2
is the same. If it is the preferred source, then the “Preferred Source” string is shown. Also, the
background color of the frame indicates whether it is the preferred source. If the background
color of frame is green, then it is the preferred source, otherwise, it is white. The frame on the
right of F1 displays the output information, such as output voltage, output frequency, output
current and load percentage.
5. The lines between S1 and SW1, between S2 and SW2, between SW1 and F1, between SW2
and F1 indicate the current. If there is current between them, the line is green. Otherwise, the
line is black.

If you select inverter from the List, details about all module of inverter system will be displayed on
the right side, Refer to the following diagram 3-1-2-5:

2. Menu and Dialog

1) Auto Search Device


When user select "Auto Search Device" item from "System" Menu, Winpower will start searching
for the device connect to the computer’s serial port or USB port (for telecom power, the USB driver
must be installed; For ATS, A crossover RS232 cable will be needed that crosses pins 2 and 3, so
that pin 2 on one side is connected to pin 3 on the other.). See the following diagram 3-2-1-1 and
diagram 3-2-1-2. Winpower can monitor not more than four COM ports and one USB port in one
computer. Only on Windows 98/2000/2003/XP/Vista, Mac OS X and Linux (with kernel 2.6) can use
the USB port. For UPS, no USB driver is needed. But telecom power's USB communication only
works with Windows 2000/XP/Vista and need install the USB driver at directory USB driver.

2) “Administrator” Dialog
"Administrator" dialog can be opened by clicking “Act as Administrator” in the “System” menu.
See the following diagram 3-2-2. Enter the administrator password in the edit box and then click
“OK” button. If the password is not correct, the system will pop up a message dialog to prompt users
that the user password is not correct. If the password is correct, users can get the administrator
access right and set up the Agent.

Note: The initial password is “Administrator”.

3) "Administrator Password Settings" Dialog


“Administrator Password Settings” dialog can be opened from the “Modify Administrator
Password” menu item of “System” menu. Refer to the following diagram 3-2-3.

Administrator password only can be set by super user in local machine. If you are not a super user
yet, the "Administrator" Dialog will pop up first for you to log on as an administrator.

User needs to enter a new password in the "New Password" text box and reenter the new
password in the "Confirm Password" text box. If the passwords are not consistent with each other, a
message dialog will pop up to notify the user that the password is not correct and request the user to
enter it once again. If the passwords are consistent with each other and the button "OK" is selected,
the new password will be accepted by the system.

4) "Event log Viewer" Dialog


"Event Log Viewer" Dialog will be shown when user selects the "Event Log" menu item from
"Logs" Menu or click buttons from toolbar, or click the “View log” button of event log in the “Record
Setting” dialog, then the “Event Log” dialog will pop up. Refer to the following Diagram 3-2-4. The
dialog displays a list of history events.

User can select the check box “Delete” and click "Delete" button to remove the selected events.

User can click “Close” button to close the dialog.

User can click "Purge All" button to delete all of the events.

Note: If “Delete” and "Purge All" button are invalid, it means your access right to the
current Agent is “Read Only”, you can’t carry out the operation. You should log in as a super
user.

5) "Data log Viewer" Dialog

"Data Log Viewer" Dialog will pop up when user selects "Data Log" item of "Logs" Menu , or click
buttons from toolbar or click “View log” button of data log in the “Record Setting” dialog. Refer to the
following Diagram 3-2-5, the history data will be displayed in this dialog.

Users can select the port and UPS to show the data of that device.

Users can click “Next”, “Prev”, “Home” and “End” button to display the data log.

User can select the check box “Delete” and click "Delete" button to remove the selected data log.

User can click “Close” button to close the dialog.

User can click "Purge All" button to delete all of the data.

Note: If “Delete” and "Purge All" button are invalid, it means your access right to the
current Agent is “Read Only” and you can’t carry out these operations. You should log in as
a super user.

6) “Record Setting” Dialog


The “Record Setting” dialog can be opened from the “Record Setting” item of “Logs” menu. Refer
to the following Diagram 3-2-6-1.

The default value of the maximum file length of Event Log Viewer is 32KB (the maximum value is
1MB).

Click the “View Log” button of the event log in the “Record Setting” dialog (Refer to the following

8) "Event Action" Dialog
The “Event Action” dialog can be opened, by clicking “Event Action” item of “Device” menu or
button in the toolbar. Refer to the following diagram 3-2-8. In the “Event Action” dialog, users can
select that which action will be carried out when some events occur. For each event, the actions that
users can select are Record, Broadcast, Email, Send SMS and Send Pager. There are three kind
events, The UPS event list is for UPS, Telecom Power System event list for Telecom Power System
and ATS Event List for ATS.

10) "UPS Self-Test Immediately" Dialog


The “UPS Self-Test Immediately” dialog can be opened from the “Battery Self-Test Now” item of
“Device” menu. Refer to the following diagram 3-2-10.

In the “UPS Self-Test Immediately” dialog, users can select the type of self-test: Self-Test for 10
seconds, Self-Test until battery low, Self-Test for XX minutes. The time range of self-test for XX

11) "UPS Test Manager" Dialog


The “UPS Test Manager” dialog can be opened from the “Battery Self-Test Schedule” item of
“Device” menu. Refer to the following diagram 3-2-11.

The function is only for UPS.

The function can be used to display and setup UPS self-test task. UPS self-test task has two types:
“once” and “monthly”.

UPS self-test type: UPS self-test for 10 seconds, UPS self-test to battery low, and UPS self-test
for the appointed time. The appointed time range is 1 to 99 minutes, and the default value is 10
minutes.

The “UPS Test Manager” dialog contains two parts: task list and calendar. All the UPS self-test
and UPS on/off tasks are shown in the calendar. The red dot denotes the Power Off action, the
green dot denotes the Power On action and the blue dot denotes the self-test action. Click the “Add
Test” button and users can setup the special time and monthly UPS self-test task in the popped up
dialog. The self-test task added will be shown in the schedule.

If you select one of the UPS self-test tasks in the list, you can modify the task that has been set
by clicking the “Modify” button. If you select one of the UPS self-test tasks, you also can remove the
task by clicking “Remove” button.

Note: If the “OK”, “Add Test”, “Modify” and “Remove” buttons are invalid, it means that
your access right to the current Agent is “read only” and you can’t carry out the setting. You
should log in as a super user.

12) "UPS On/Off Manager" Dialog


The “UPS On/Off Manager” dialog can be opened from the “UPS On/Off Schedule” item of
“Device” menu. Refer to the following diagram 3-2-12.

The “UPS On/Off Manager” dialog is used to display and set up UPS On/Off tasks. The UPS
On/Off tasks include two types: “Once” and “Weekly”. The UPS Power Off time range (from
shutdown to turning on next time) that can be set is 1-9999 minutes, i.e. the longest power off time is
6 days 22 hours and 39 minutes. The input range for the year is 2002-2035. The “UPS On/Off
Manager” dialog contains task list and calendar. All the UPS self-test and UPS On/Off tasks are
shown in the calendar. We use red dot to denote the Power Off action, green dot to denote the
Power On action and blue dot to denote self-test action in the calendar. Users can setup weekly and
special time’s UPS Power On/Off tasks in the popped up dialog by clicking “Add UPS shutdown”
button. Note: In terms of time, the new added task can’t conflict with the UPS self-test task and UPS
Power On/Off tasks that have been set. If you select one of the UPS self-test tasks in the list, you
can modify the setup task by clicking the “Modify” button. You also can remove the task by clicking
“Remove” button.

Note: If the “OK”, “Add Test”, “Modify” and “Remove” buttons are invalid, it means that
your access right to the current Agent is “read only” and you can’t carry out the setting. You

13) "Schedule Viewer" Dialog


The “Schedule Viewer” dialog can be opened from the “View Schedule” item of the “UPS” menu.

The “Schedule Viewer” dialog is used to show the set up UPS Power On/Off and self-test tasks.
“Schedule” dialog contains task list and calendar graphic. Only the tasks of the current month are
displayed in the task list. We use red dot to denote the Power Off action, green dot to denote the
Power On action and blue dot to denote the self-test action in the calendar.

14) "Broadcast Message Settings" Dialog


The “Broadcast Message Settings” dialog can be opened from the “Broadcast Setting” item of
“Tools” menu or click broadcast “Setting” button in “Event Action” Dialog. Refer to the following
diagram 3-2-14.

The "Broadcast To" list box lists the users. The user item must be selected if the user wants to
receive broadcast message. You can add and delete user item by click "Add" and "Remove" button
(Note: the "All Users" and "Domain User" item can’t be deleted). "All Users" means all computers in
LAN. "Domain User" means computers in the same domain with local Agent.

The "UPS message", “Telecom Power System message” and “ATS message list” list boxes list all
the message, you can select the message by click the check box with the message item.

Note: The function is valid only for windows. To receive broadcast message, "Winpopup"
in Windows95/98 and "Messenger Service" in Windows NT/2000/XP must be started. If the
"OK" button is invalid, it means that your access right to the current Agent is “Read only”,

15) "Email Settings" Dialog

The “E-Mail Settings” dialog can be opened from the “E-Mail Setting” item of “Tools” menu or click

The “Receiver E-Mail Address” list box lists the email addresses. Click "Add" button to add an
email address item. Select an address item and click "Remove" button will delete the item. Selected
an email address item, and click the "Test" button will send a test email to the email address.

The "UPS message", “Telecom Power System message” and “ATS message list” list boxes list all
the message, you can select the message by click the check box with the message item.

All of the SMTP parameter’s default value is vacancy, and it can be setup in the local Agent only.
To send email to the appointed user, the SMTP server name or IP address must be set, or the email
will not be sent successfully.

1. Sender

SMS is sent through GSM modem or mobile phone connected with your computer. User should
select COM port that is being used by GSM Modem or mobile phone, and set baud rate of the COM
port. Locus means that where user is.

2. Receiver:

Receiver is the mobile phones numbers who can receive the SMS. It can be one or more. If the
Event that you have selected occurs, winpower will send the event message to the phone numbers
in the "Receiver" list.

3. UPS message, Telecom Power System message and ATS message list

User can select the events that need to be informed by SMS.

17) "Pager Setting" Dialog

The “Pager Setting” dialog can be opened from the “Pager Setting” item of “Tools” menu or click

Enter the IP address or host name of an Agent to be monitored, and press “OK” button. If the
agent exists, its information will be shown below the "WAN" node in the tree view of the Manager
window.

Note:

1) The number of remote agent monitored is up to 256.

2) If the software can't communicate with the remote agent in 1 minute, the agent will be kept on the
left tree, and the status of this agent will be "Network Communication Lost".

3) You can delete a remote agent by select the agent node manually, then click the mouse right
button to show a pop up menu, select "Delete" menu item to remove it. Refer to the following

1. Click the “Search Device” item from the” SNMP” menu.

2. Select which TCP/IP protocol that SNMP support in the Search Device dialog, protocol IPv4 or
IPv6.

For IPv4, both single device and segment device searches are supported. Enter an IPv4 address
in the Start IP field and the End IP field.

For IPv6, user can enter only one IPv6 address other than IP ranges to search. If IPv6 address is
broadcast IP (default IPv6 address is broadcast IP ff02::1), all Network Management Card that
support protocol IPv6 within LAN will be found.

3. Click “Search” button. After searching, the new device displays in the tree view.

4. Double-click the new device node to connect it with the Internet browser of the Network
Management Card. The Link column indicates successful communication. Refer to the following
diagram 3-2-26.

27) Modify SNMP Device

Select Modify Device from the “SNMP” menu. You can modify the SNMP device information,
including: Name, Area, Community (the default value is “public”).

To open the SNMP Port Setting window, select “SNMP Trap Receiving Port Setting” from the
“SNMP” menu.

You can change the SNMP Port if the default Port 162 is occupied by other programs. The range
of the new SNMP Port is 1 to 65535. Refer to the following diagram 3-2-30.

Menu.

To delete all data, click Clear All.

Click Close to exit the window. Refer to the following diagram 3-2-31.

1. To view the event records for any UPS monitored by a Network Management Card, select the
UPS under the SNMP node in the tree view and select “SNMP Event Log” from the SNMP menu.
The Event Log for UPS opens.

2. To set the maximum Event Log file length for any UPS monitored by the SNMP Card, select
“Event Log Setting” from the “SNMP” menu. The default file length is 5,000 rows, and the maximum
value is 100,000 rows.

1. How to realize the conversion of the appointed COM port
If the computer with Winpower has multiple serial ports, Winpower can allow the users to change
the current serial ports connected to the device via “Auto search Device” menu. Refer to the
following Diagram 4-1-1.

There is a tree view on the left displaying a hierarchical list, such as Root, LAN, the Agent name,
the COM port and the Device model. Refer to the following diagram 4-1-2.

For Linux and UNIX, Winpower can't detect the serial port device automatically. If the serial port
can’t be found in the default setting table, you must add it manually in the "Communication Port
Settings" dialog. Refer to the following Diagram 4-1-3.

Note: For the first time, starting Agent takes more time than later to communicate with the
device. And the software will keep a record of the device. Next time, Winpower will start
according to the last record. If device COM port, device model or slave address have been
changed, user should click "Auto Search Device" item of "System" menu to get correct
device information.

2. How to realize broadcasting message in LAN

Winpower has the function of sending the event message to the customer timely via Windows
message service. Refer to the notice in section 13 of Chapter 3 (“Broadcast Message Settings”
Dialog) and Appendix B (Winpower Event Table) to learn general operation. Refer to the following
diagram 4-2-1.

Refer to the range of broadcasting, there are three options: All Users, Domain Users and special
users.

All users indicate that the message will be sent to all computers in the same network with this
computer, no matter whether it is in the same domain.

Domain users indicate that the message will be sent to all computers only in the same NT domain
with this computer.

Special users indicate that the message will be sent only to one or a group of defined users, but
not others any more.

To realize the function, you should set up the “Add Broadcast User” dialog first. Refer to the
following diagram 4-2-2.

In the dialog above, after inputting the computer name which will receive messages, select “OK”
button to finish the setting. The name of the computer which you have keyed in will be displayed in
the “Broadcast Message Settings” dialog. Select the events that will be sent to the users, and press

Click the “Battery Self-Test Schedule” menu of “Device” menu to popup the “UPS Test Manager”

In the dialog, users can make a choice of setting UPS self-test task as in a special time or monthly
from the options of “once” or “monthly”. You may set the start time of UPS self-test in date and time
combo box.

Note: the new self-test task can’t conflict with the UPS self-test or UPS Power on/off task that has
already been set.

You can select one of the self-test modes from the following.

 Self-test for 10 seconds


 Self-test until the battery low
 Self-test for 1 to 99 minutes

Press the “Cancel” button, the dialog will be closed and the setting above is invalid. Press the “Ok”
button, the dialog will be closed and the task setting will present to the task list. Refer to the following
diagram 4-3-3.

Click the “Add” button in the ”Shutdown Options”, enter IP address of agent in the popped up
dialog, and click the “OK” button to finish the setting. When the Agent received the specified agent's
shutdown signal, system will be shut down in delay time.

Shutdown Remote Agents:


Click the “Add” button in the ”Shutdown Remote Agents”, configure the shutdown conditions, enter
IP address of agent in the popped up dialog, and click the “OK” button to finish the setting. When
shutdown condition is touched off, agent will send shutdown signal to the appointed remote Agents.

Configure the shutdown parameter in the dialog:


 Shutdown options:
 Battery backup time: The time that the UPS's battery is able to supply power when utility power
fails.
 Begin Shutdown Immediately when Battery Low: When the check box is selected and battery
low event occurs, Agent will shut down the UPS immediately, otherwise the shutting down
time will be controlled according to battery backup time.
 Shutdown System: When this check box is selected, system will be shut down while the
appointed UPS is being turned off.
 Suspend System: When the radio box is selected, system will suspend in the disk in shutdown
sequence. The function only can be carry out on some Windows, and hibernate support must
be enabled from /Control Panel/Power Options/Hibernate.
 Multi-UPS input: When the check box is selected, system won't be shut down until all the
conditions of all selected UPS are met.
 System shut down need time: The time to be needed to shut down the system, from the
beginning of shutdown to the end.
 Remote Shutdown by Agent: When the check box is selected, system can be shut down by
other Agent.
 XX min shutdown system: Receive the specified agent's shutdown signal, delay XX minutes
and shut down system.
 Run Command File before Shutdown: Before system shutting down, Agent can execute a file,
if the parameter isn’t null, agent won’t begin to shut down the system until the execution file
has been executed.
 Shutdown File Max Execution Time: Before system shutting down, the time to be needed to
execute the shutdown file.
 Shutdown Remote Agents:
 Shutdown remote Agent’s Conditions: The condition can be “UPS be shutdown” or “The time
UPS on battery exceed setting time”.
 Agents be Shutdown: When shutdown condition is touched off, Agent will send shutdown
signal to the appointed remote agents.
 Shutdown Alarm Parameters:
 Shutdown Alarm Interval: The interval that agent pops up an alarm message before shutting
down.
 Start Warning before Scheduled Shutdown: If user has setup shutting down on schedule,
agent will begin to alarm user before the set time.

7. How to realize the modification of Device control parameter


For ON-LINE UPS:

 Click “UPS control parameters” item of the “Device” menu, and will pop up “UPS control
parameters” dialog. Refer to the following diagram 4-7-1.

 The following UPS control parameter can be modified in the dialog:
 The limit value of the input frequency: when the frequency of the utility power is out
of this range, UPS will count it abnormal and switch to battery supply.
 The limit value of the bypass voltage: when UPS supplies in bypass mode, if the
utility voltage is out of this range, UPS will cut off bypass output.
 Allow OFF-Key to Enable/Disable Audible Warning When UPS Works on Bypass: to
choose “Yes”, when UPS is supplied by bypass, users can turn off the bypass
audible alarm (beep once every 2 minutes) by pressing “OFF” button on the UPS
panel for one time, and pressing one more time to recover it. To choose “No”, the
“OFF” button on the UPS panel cannot be used to control bypass audible alarm on
or off.
 Allow ON-Key to Enable/Disable Audible Warning When UPS Works on Battery
Mode: to choose “Yes”, when UPS is supplied by batteries, users can turn off the
audible alarm (beep once every 4 seconds) supplied by batteries by pressing “ON”
button on the UPS panel for one time, and pressing one more time the audible alarm
can be turned on again. To choose “No”, the “ON” button on the UPS panel can’t be
used to control the audible alarm supplied by batteries on or off.
 Bypass Audible Warning: to choose “On”, when UPS is supplied by bypass, it is
allowed to enable bypass audible alarm. To choose “Silent”, when UPS is supplied
by bypass, it is not allowed to enable audible alarm, at this time the “OFF” button on
the UPS panel can’t turn on the bypass audible alarm.
 Battery Mode Audible Warning: to choose “On”, when UPS is supplied by batteries,
it is allowed to enable audible alarm of battery supply. To choose “Silent”, when UPS
is supplied by battery, it is not allowed to enable audible alarm of battery supply. At
this time the “ON” button on the UPS panel can’t turn on the audible alarm of battery
supply.
 Work On Bypass When UPS Turned Off: to choose “Yes”, when UPS is not turned
on, it is in the mode of bypass supply. To choose “No”, when UPS is not turned on,
no bypass output is offered.
 Auto Reboot UPS When AC Input Restored: to choose “Yes”, when UPS is

shutdown for the backup time is exhausted or the battery is in low capacitance, once
the utility power is recovered, UPS can restart automatically to the normal operating
mode. To choose “No”, when the utility power is recovered, UPS can’t restart
automatically but in the mode of being not turned on.
Click “OK” button to save what have modified. Click “Cancel” button to make the modification
invalid. Click “Default” button to make all the settings to default value.

For special ON-LINE Device:

 Auto Bypass: choose “Enable”, it will switch to the bypass output, when AC power

user can enable or disable battery mode alarm audible by this dialog, Refer to the following

8. How to realize system administrator operation and password modifying realize

System administrator operation

Click “Act as Administrator” item of “System” menu, and will pop up “Administrator” dialog. Refer to
the following diagram 4-8-1.

Enter the system administrator password in the dialog, and click the “OK” button to finish the
setting. If the password is correct, you can get the administrator access right to configure the agent.
If the password is incorrect, warning message will popup. Refer to the following diagram 4-8-2.

Click the “Modify Administrator Password” menu of the “System” menu to popup the “Administrator
Password Settings” dialog. The menu is valid within the local Agent only. Refer to the following

9. How to realize sending event message by email
 Precondition

When event occurs, the precondition of realizing sending message by email is connecting the
computer with Winpower to the Internet.

 Steps

Set “Email Service”: click the “Email setting” item of the “Tools” menu, and will pop up the “Email
Settings” dialog. Refer to the following diagram 4-9-1.

SMTP Server is the SMTP Server’s address; SMTP User is the account for logging in the server; If
SMTP mail server needs password, authentication user should input the password; Port is for SMTP
service, user should set the right port; Encryption is for selecting encryption mode depending on
SMTP server.

Set the receiver Email Address: click the “Add” button of the “Email Settings” dialog, and then pop

up “Add Receiver E-mail Address” dialog. Refer to the following diagram 4-9-2.

Enter the Email Address in the “Add Receiver Email Address” dialog, and select “OK” button to

Completing event setting: select one of the events (For example, UPS battery low) from the “Send

10. How to realize sending event messages by mobile phone


 Precondition

The precondition of sending messages by mobile phone is that the computers with Winpower
must have at least one communication port used to be connected to GSM Modem or mobile phone.

 Steps

Configure “SMS”: click the “SMS setting” item of the “Tools” menu, and will pop up the “SMS
Setting” dialog. Refer to the following diagram 4-10-1.

Below is the use remark of SMS Setting, refer to the diagram 4-10-1.

1. Sender: SMS is sent through GSM modem or mobile phone connected with your computer.
User should select COM port used by GSM Modem or mobile phone, and set baud Rate of this COM
port.

2. Receiver: the mobile phones numbers that can receive the SMS. It can be one or more. If the
event occurs, the software will send the short message to all the phone numbers in the "Receiver"
list.

3. Send message: Use can select the event that need to be informed by SMS.

Another method to select event code:

Select one of the events (for example: AC Fail) from the “Event List”, that is on the left side of the
“Event Action”; and then select “Send SMS” on the right side, finally select the “OK” button to save
and exit.

11. How to realize sending event messages by pager


 Precondition

When event happens, the precondition of sending messages by pager is that the computers with
Winpower must have at least one communication port used to connect to modem.

 Events supported

For UPS, the function only supports the following events:

 UPS AC fails
 UPS low battery
 UPS hardware failure
 UPS output overload

For Telecom power and ATS, all events are supported.

 Steps

Configure “Pager”: click the “Pager setting” item of the “Tools” menu, and will pop up the “Pager
Setting” dialog. Refer to the following diagram 4-11-1.

“Dialing to exterior line bar”. The waiting time after dialing can be set according to what you need,
the default value is one second.

“Access number” is the station number that the pager joined (which can only be auto station). The
waiting time is the delay time between dialing paging station number and pager number, the delay
time is decided by the paging station, for LianTong 192 auto station, the waiting time is 1 second.

“Pager Number” is the number of the pager that accepts the communication. The waiting time is
the delay time between dialing pager number and message code (paging message content), the
delay time is decided by the paging station, for LianTong 192 auto station, the waiting time is
1second.

Select event code from the “Pager Setting” and select “OK” button to save and exit.

Another method to select event code:

Select one of the events (for example: AC Fail) from the “Event List”, that is on the left side of the
“Event Action”, and then select “Send Pager” on the right side, finally select the “OK” button to save
and exit.

12. How to realize monitoring device remotely in LAN within the same network
 Precondition

To realize monitoring device remotely in LAN within the same network, the communication
protocol of the computers with Winpower must include TCP/IP protocol.

 Steps for realization


 Keep network communication smooth: test with network command “PING” under command
prompt window. For example, a computer named xc in LAN, whose corresponding IP address is
192.168.1.221, and then you can finish the test with command “ping 192.168.1.221”. Refer to the
following Diagram 4-12-1, which indicates that the physical link of LAN is smooth.

15. How to install software on VMware ESX 3.5/4.0/4.1


This section describes the installation and configuration of the Software on a VMware ESX
Server.
Software allows you to connect VMware ESX 3.5/4.0/4.1 with a UPS through the RS232 or USB
port.
Please notice: When you want to connect VMware ESX 4.0/4.1 with a UPS through USB
port, you should execute the command to activate the usb.o on your System to make the USB

communication normal, and then restart the VMware ESX 4.0/4.1 server. The command:
esxcfg-module -s "libusb_support=1" usb.o
If you don’t want to input the command above, you can start the agent of software after
first installation. And then restart the VMware ESX 4.0/4.1 server, the USB communication will
be normal.
The software will be monitored and configured by a remote Agent on either a Microsoft
Windows or Linux platform.
The software notifies the VMware server of power events or UPS alerts with pop up broadcast
information on the console. It also safely shuts down the VMware ESX server and the guest
operating system.
Before the VMware ESX system shuts down, use the shutdown.sh script to shut down the
guest operating system.
All operations are tested on VMware server with two guest operating systems (Windows 2003
and Windows XP), when the certain conditions exist, such as:
 UPS Battery is low
 Battery backup time is reached
Tested operations include:
 Safely shuts down the VMware server
 Safely shuts down the guest operating system
 Software notifies the VMware server of power events or the UPS alerts
Installation
This section provides information about installing and configuring Software on a VMware server
and installing VMware Tools on a guest operating system.
Prerequisites
 VMware ESX Server with 125 MB free space for the software.
 VMware Infrastructure client must be installed on different machine.
Software Installation
To install the software:
1. Download the software from the Web site or from the CD provided with the UPS.
2. Enter the command to install software:
▲ For the CD installation, enter the command:
mount /dev/cdrom /mnt
cd /mnt/Linux
./setup_console.bin
▲ For the download installation, enter the command:
tar –zxvf Winpower_setup_Linux.tar.gz
cd /mnt/Linux

3 Start the Agent. From the installation path, enter the command:

Installing VMware Tools on a Microsoft Windows Guest


To install the VMware Tools for a Microsoft Windows guest:
1. On the VM Templates page, move the pointer over the virtual machine template name and
select View Console from the menu.
2. Insert and start the Microsoft Windows operating system installation CD.
3. Log in to the guest operating system inside the virtual machine console, and then click Install
VMware Tools.
4. From within the guest operating system, click OK to confirm that you want to install VMware
Tools and launch the Install Shield wizard.
▲ If auto-run is enabled in the guest operating system (the default setting for Microsoft
Windows operating systems), a window opens.
▲ If auto-run is not enabled, run the VMware Tools installer. Click Start > Run and enter
D:\setup.exe, where D: is the first virtual CD-ROM drive.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions.
▲ On Microsoft Windows Server 2003, the SVGA driver is installed automatically, and the
guest operating system uses it after it reboots.
▲ After you install VMware Tools, Microsoft Windows 2000 and Microsoft Windows XP guest
operating systems must be rebooted to use the new driver.

The VMware Tools installation package is on the VMware server installation CD on the path
\VMware\RPMS.
To install the VMware Tools for a Linux guest:

This section explains configuration for the Software and for the VMware server.
Software Configuration
The VMware server works in console mode and can’t be used for configuration. Use a remote

Agent with the same Software version to configure the VMware server.
1. Start the manager interface on the remote software Agent in the Microsoft Windows operating
system.
2. If the two Agents are in the same LAN, the VMware server client will be added to the topology
automatically. Otherwise, add the Agent manually (select Monitor Remote Device from the Monitor
menu). The software will auto search the UPS when the Agent starts for the first time after
installation.
If the search fails:
▲ Select the VMware Server Agent from the tree view.
▲ Acting as the Administrator, select Auto Search Device from the System menu. The UPS
connected with VMware server appears in the LAN tree view.
3. Select Shutdown Settings from the Device menu. Set the battery backup time, and select the
Begin Shutdown Immediately if Battery Low check box and the Run Command File before Shutdown
check box (refer to Diagram 4-15-2).

want to use the remote desktop function of Windows Server 2008 Core, you should enable the
remote desktop function.
The following command may be useful for you to reference.

Silent installation method: Enter command: “setup –i silent” or “setup.exe –i silent”, then
the installation can be started, waiting for a moment to finish the installation.
Interface installation method: Enter command: “setup” or “setup.exe”, then the installation
can be started, please follow “next” button of interface to finish the installation.
 Check if the installation is successful:
1. Enter the installation path, the default path is c:\Program file (X86)\
MonitorSoftware, Find file “UPSEVENT.CSV”, Enter command: “type
UPSEVENT.CSV”, the log of agent action will be shown. See the below
screenshot, that means the agent is running.

2. Enter the installation path, start the interface of UPS monitoring software with the
command “manager”. Software interface will be shown as following picture.

17. How to install software on VMware ESXi 4.0, VMware ESXi 4.1 and later.
This section describes the installation and configuration of the Software on VMware ESXi 4.0
/4.1 Server.
Notice: the version of VMware ESXi 4.0, VMware ESXi 4.1 and later should be purchased,
because of free of charge version without some function, software can’t be used normally on
free of charge version OS.
The software agent can’t be installed on the hypervisor system, because VMware ESXi doesn’t
have an administrative console for hypervisor. However, the software can be installed on VMware
Infrastructure Management Assistant (VIMA) 1.0 or on vSphere Management Assistant (vMA)
4.0/4.1 to manage the shutdown of VMware ESXi hosts. You can suspend or shutdown guest
operating systems safely and orderly by configuring the ESXi hypervisor. This allows one software
agent on one guest operating system (VIMA/vMA). The software installed on VIMA or vMA should
be configured to be shut down by another software agent communicating with UPS by RS232 or
USB. Another software agent should be installed on operating system with GUI.
The software notifies the VMware server of important message with pop-up broadcast
information on the console. It also safely shuts down the VMware ESXi server and the guest
operating system. Before the VMware ESXi system shuts down, use the shutdownESXi.sh script to
shut down the guest operating system.
All operations are tested on VMware ESXi server with two guest operating systems (SBS 2003
and Red Hat).
Tested operations include:
● Safely shut down of the VMware server

● Safely shut down of the guest operating system

Installation and Configuration


This section provides information about installing and configuring the Software on a VMware
ESXi server and installing VMware Tools and vMA 4.0/4.1 on a guest operating system.
Prerequisites
● VMware ESXi server machine

● VIMA 1.0 or vMA 4.0/4.1 installed as guest


● VMware Infrastructure client installed on a different machine for VMware ESXi Server

configuration
● Secure Copy Protocol (SCP) client like WinSCP to upload packages to the VMware ESXi

vMA Installation
To install the vMA application:
1. Go to http://www.vmware.com/support/developer/vima/ to download the software from the
VMware Web site.

NOTE: The "vi-admin" is default user name of vMA 4.0/4.1 without the administrator privilege. If
you can’t install or start software normally, please add “sudo” before every command to act as the
administrator privilege.

To install the software:


1. Start the vMA 4.0/4.1 guest operating system.
2. Download the software from the Web site or from the CD provided with the UPS.
3. Upload the software from Windows to vMA 4.0/4.1 using WinSCP tools.
4. Copy the Linux and InstallerData files from the CD to vMA. Enter the following commands
to access the Linux and InstallerData files:
sudo chmod -R 777 Linux
sudo chmod -R 777 InstallerData
5. Enter the Linux path and then enter the following command to install the software:
cd Linux
sudo ./setup_console.bin
6. Edit the shutdown script “shutdownESXi.sh”.

If the VMware server is VMware ESXi 4.0, the .pl file name should be ghettoHostShutdown.pl
and use “--ups_vm” to set the name of VMA. Refer to the following image, the name of VMA is
VMA4.

For example:

If the VMware server is VMware ESXi 4.1 and later, the .pl file name should be

Notice: if you are not sure the accurate time, you can use --host_operation autoquery in
conjunction with --vm_operation auto to view what is the current amount of time that's been

vma_name vMA4.1. After running the script of “shutdownESXi.sh”, The required timeout will be

8. Configure the shutdown parameter of the software agent installed on vMA 4.0/4.1 to shut down

Agent and add the IP of another software agent, and select the check box of Run Command File
before Shutdown in shutdown settings dialog. Please refer to diagram 4-17-7. For example: another
software agent IP is 172.18.127.10.

be open from the shutdown parameter of device menu, by selecting the agent name on the

longer then the timeout value in the shutdownESXi.sh.

18. How to configure the computer powered by Multi-UPS shut down safely
For local computer: If there are more than one UPS supplying power to the local computer with
software as below 4-18-1, you want to safely shut down or suspend the local computer before all
UPS can’t supply power to the local computer. You should select the “Multi-UPS input” option in the
“shutdown settings” dialog of each UPS and set condition, refer to the following picture 4-18-2. The
local computer won’t be shut down or in suspend mode until all the condition of all UPS is met.

Appendix A—Glossary Explanation
Agent—Agent is a background application of the Windows/Unix/Linux operating system.

UPS Battery Low—When Utility Power fails and battery supplies power, if the battery voltage is
lower than a certain value (refer to UPS Specification), UPS will send a warning
tone at intervals of 1 second for battery low.

UPS battery backup time exhausted—Indicates when UPS AC fails, battery supply time has
exceeded the “battery backup time” which has been set (“Battery backup time”
can be set in the “Shutdown parameter” dialog of Winpower).

UPS output overload—UPS load is more than 110% Rated load.


Load too high—UPS load is more than 100% 110% rated load.

Supply power in Bypass mode—For the reason of UPS not on or the hardware fault, the input will
not go through the inverter of UPS, but output directly. At this moment, if AC
fails, UPS will not startup backup battery to supply, so the output will also out of
electricity.

UPS self-test—After UPS’ supply mode is switched from utility power mode to battery mode and
work on for a period of time, return to utility power mode again. The purpose of
self-test: First is to check if it can supply normally in battery mode; second is to
make the battery discharge termly (as every month), that is helpful for the battery

Method to fix it:
Here are the procedures to solve this question:
1. Login in Debian as root, the permission of general user is limited to install winpower.
Debian refuse to login as root, some special settings is needed.

Remark
a. In the login interface, there are three icons: “Language“, “Session“ and
“Action“, choose “Action“
b. Choose the last icon of “configure the login manager” in the dialog pop-up
c. Choose the icon of “security” in the dialog pop-up
d. Choose “allow local system administrator login”
2. Input the user name of root and the password, and then install the winpower
manually.
Use the command “./agent start“ to start Winpower service, and then use the command
of “./monitor“ to start the monitor interface
3. Copy the document of s99UPS from Linux (attached CD) to /etc/rcS.d,
The file s99UPS is used to start Winpower service automatically.
When the computer reboots, Winpower service will be started automatically. Just need to
start the monitor interface by the command “./monitor“

Remark:
a. If the third step is executed, no matter what the user login in as root or a
general user, the communication with UPS will be successful.
b. If the third step have not been executed, you should login as root, and use the
command “./agent start“ to start Winpower service. If login in as a general user, the
communication with UPS will be failed

Question:
UPS can’t communicate with Winpower under RedHat Core 2.6 9
Method to fix it:
Add the word of “none /proc/bus/usb usbdevfs defaults 0 0” to the document “/etc/fstab”
Winpower can find the UPS when choose the icon of “auto search”.
