L: Today we are going to discuss about what would have happened if Peru had never been
conquered for the Spanish.
R: It is possible that Peruvian customs, people and traditions would have been different if Spanish had never arrived Peru, for example, it is true that Peru currently has a great variety of vegetables, cereals and food in general, but this only happened because the Spanish brought a lot of products to this continent. J: that is correct but many of the vegetables were cultivated by the Incas, in an interview Robert Clark says that the Incas had a great variety of vegetables and that their agriculture was one of the most developed in America. L: Of course, the Incas also had implemented some good techniques of harvests like the platforms, the oxbow lakes, crop pits, irrigation channels, a group of archaeologists said that their ecological floors were very important for the planting of different vegetables. R: I not sure that all the vegetables, fruits or seeds we have currently were native of the Inca empire, however I have to recognize that we were blessing with one of the most fertile farming land in the world. as a Spanish colony, we could share and live with other cultures like Asian, African or Spanish, that improve our cultures in some aspects, for example the religion, it is possible that the Peruvian would have had a different religion if the Spanish had never come to Peru. Catholicism has been the official religion of Peru and some experts believe that religious encourage people to improve their lives. J: Of course, but the Incas had their own religion, if the Spaniards had not arrived, possibly we would have many gods such as the Incas. R: That could be improbable because a lot of historians are agree that almost all the countries in the world had been conquered at least one on their history and Peru couldn’t be an exception because as you mention this country were extremely rich in the past and that made us a valuable target of conquest for any foreign empire. L: that is maybe true but the Spanish not only brought their religion they also brought some diseases, supposedly their plan was to know more land but when they found out about an empire rich in gold, they decided to venture. J: I remember when we traveled to Machu Picchu, and the tourist guide said that possibly if the Inca Empire had not been conquered by the Spanish, other European powers would have conquered such as the English, French or Portuguese. R: Keep in mind that in the past Spanish were more tolerant with native people than other empires such as the British or Dutch, and the last one was the first who initiated the business of slavery throughout the world. L: good but when we were in the guided a seasoned traveler said that in their travels to various parts of Peru, other older cuttings that had been conquered by the Incas were not faithful, so that was the weak point for the Spanish could seize of the Inca Empire. J: considering that the adventurer is right, I think that the Incas were good strategists for the conquests, and they had all the technology, for this reason they had breathtaking constructions such as machu picchu. R: Although some people said that the Inca Empire would have been better if the Spanish hadn’t invaded this country, nevertheless it also brought us some good things that defined who we are in the present.
