MATE – Museo Mario Testino es una institución sin fines de lucro creada para contribuir con el
Perú, promoviendo su cultura y legado.

Fundado por Mario Testino en 2012, MATE tiene como objetivo promover a artistas peruanos
y la cultura del país en el mundo entero, además de ofrecer lo mejor del arte y la fotografía
contemporánea internacional al público de Lima. MATE facilita este intercambio a través de un
dinámico programa de exhibiciones, residencias y eventos, junto con una exposición
permanente de la obra de Mario Testino. MATE está comprometido a llevar el trabajo del
museo a un público cada vez mayor, a través de visitas guiadas, talleres y charlas, ofreciendo
también capacitación y recursos como parte de su cada vez más amplio programa de
educación.

MATE está ubicado en el corazón del distrito limeño de Barranco. Actualmente un próspero
barrio cultural, Barranco fue históricamente un popular balneario frente al mar que albergaba
a muchos de los intelectuales más prominentes del Perú, un pasado que se ve reflejado en su
magnífica arquitectura. MATE ha escrito un nuevo capítulo en la historia de Barranco al
restaurar una hermosa casona del siglo XIX, devolviéndole su antiguo esplendor y trabajando
continuamente para colmarla nuevamente del color y las conversaciones de antaño.

MATE - Museo Mario Testino is a non-profit institution created to contribute to Peru,

promoting its culture and legacy.

Founded by Mario Testino in 2012, MATE aims to promote Peruvian artists and the culture of
the country throughout the world, in addition to offering the best of international
contemporary art and photography to the public of Lima. MATE facilitates this exchange
through a dynamic program of exhibitions, residences and events, along with a permanent
exhibition of the work of Mario Testino. MATE is committed to carrying out the work of the
museum to a growing audience, through guided tours, workshops and talks, it also includes
training and resources as part of its own broader educational program experience.

MATE is located in the heart of the Lima district of Barranco. Currently a prosperous cultural
district, Barranco was historically a popular seaside resort that housed many of Peru's most
prominent intellectuals, a past that was reflected in its magnificent architecture. MATE has
written a new chapter in the history of Barranco by restoring a beautiful 19th-century
mansion, restoring its former glory and working continuously to fill it with the color and
conversations of yesteryear.
La colección permanente está dividida en salas temáticas, cada una exhibe un aspecto
específico del trabajo de Testino. En la exposición inaugural estuvieron incluidas las musas de
Testino, Kate Moss y Gisele Bündchen, la leyenda de la música Madonna y celebridades de
Hollywood, así como sus diversas composiciones grupales tomadas para revistas como Vogue y
marcas como Gucci.

The permanent collection is divided into thematic rooms, each exhibiting a specific aspect of
Testino's work. In the opening exhibition were included the muses of Testino, Kate Moss and
Gisele Bündchen, the legend of music Madonna and Hollywood celebrities, as well as their
various group compositions taken for magazines such as Vogue and brands such as Gucci.

En una sala independiente se exhiben los retratos realizados por Testino a Diana, Princesa de
Gales. Estas imágenes, tomadas para la revista Vanity Fair en 1997, fueron los últimos retratos
oficiales de Diana. Se muestra también una reproducción del traje de Versace que ella usó el
día de la sesión, así como muebles diseñados especialmente para la exhibición que hizo
Testino de estos retratos en el Palacio de Kensigton en Londres (2005), residencia de Diana.
Dicha exhibición logró romper récords de asistencia.

In an independent room the portraits made by Testino to Diana, Princess of Wales, are
exhibited. These images, taken for the Vanity Fair magazine in 1997, were the last official
portraits of Diana. Also shown is a reproduction of the Versace costume she wore the day of
the session, as well as furniture made especially for the exhibition that Testino made of these
portraits at the Kensington Palace in London (2005), Diana's residence. This screen managed to
break attendance records.

Se muestran también imágenes nunca antes exhibidas de la popular serie Alta Moda de
Testino. Alta Moda, inaugurada por primera vez en MATE en el 2013, está compuesta por una
serie de retratos fotográficos de peruanos naturales de la región andina del Cusco, luciendo
trajes de fiesta tradicionales. Alta Moda es el resultado de un proyecto de cinco años de
duración en el que se investigaron tanto las tradiciones como la historia de la fotografía del
Perú. Asimismo, la exhibición incluye un video de la producción y realización de esta serie de
fotos.

Also shown are images never before exhibited from the popular Alta Moda series by Testino.
Alta Moda, inaugurated for the first time in MATE in 2013, is composed of a series of
photographic portraits of natural Peruvians from the Andean region of Cusco, wearing
traditional festive costumes. Alta Moda is the result of a five-year project in which both
traditions and the history of Peruvian photography were investigated. Also, the exhibition
includes a video of the production and realization of this series of photos.
Mario Testino is recognized as one of the most influential and famous photographers of
fashion and portraits of our time. His photographs have been published internationally in
magazines such as Vogue, V Magazine and Vanity Fair.

Testino is famous for his portraits of international icons, such as Kate Moss, Diana, Princess of
Wales, Gisele Bündchen, Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow. He manages to capture the energy
of the portrayed by creating an openness and intimacy with them. Known for the
extraordinary way in which he manages to capture the most private moments, the intimate
and spontaneous portraits of

Born in Lima, Peru, in 1954, Testino studied Law and Economics at the University of Lima, as
well as International Affairs at the University of San Diego, California. In l976 he moved to
London to devote himself to fashion photography, being influenced by classic British fashion
photographers of the stature of Cecil Beaton. Testino's creative take-off occurred in the 1990s,
when he began to draw inspiration from his own South American roots, managing to give a
shine and vitality to fashion photography that contrasted radically with the subdued palette
related to 'grunge chic' photography. that era
