Describing the weather - using the past tense

en primavera - in spring en verano - in summer

en otoo - in autumn en invierno - in winter

When describing the weather, giving no specific time, use the imperfect
tense!! (it is describing what something was like!)

e.g. en invierno haca mucho fro - in winter it was very cold

el invierno pasado - last winter la primavera pasada - last spring

el otoo pasado - last autumn el verano pasado - last summer

However, if you use a particular period of time, (see examples above),

then you use the preterite tense!

El otoo pasado estuvo nublado - last autumn it was cloudy
