El futuro
En ingls hay varios modos de expresar el futuro, dependiendo de la certeza que tengamos
en el momento de hablar. Son las siguientes:

2.1.1 Be going to
La expresin be going to se emplea para manifestar la intencin de hacer algo o para predecir un acontecimiento.

Cuando queremos hablar de un futuro planeado, de algo sobre lo cual ya habamos pensado.
Tomorrow Im going to start a new book. Maana voy a empezar un nuevo libro.

Cuando queremos expresar una prediccin porque tenemos alguna pista o indicio de
que algo va a ocurrir.
It is going to rain, the clouds are dark. Va a llover, las nubes son oscuras.
La estructura de esta forma del futuro es la siguiente:

2.1.2 Presente continuo con valor de futuro

El presente continuo se emplea para expresar el futuro cuando estamos hablando de algo
que va a ocurrir con seguridad, cuando hay algn tipo de obligacin que har que eso ocurra. Lo empleamos siempre que el sujeto sea un ser animado, y cuando usemos una referencia temporal (tomorrow maana; next year el ao que viene; tonight esta noche...).

Shes coming to my party tomorrow. Ella viene (va a venir) a mi fiesta maana.

Is your mother buying a new car tomorrow? Va a comprarse tu madre un coche nuevo
maana?

2.1.3 Futuro con will

El modal auxiliar will se emplea tambin para expresar el futuro. Will se usa para expresar
un futuro inevitable, que no es fruto de una decisin: She will be twenty next Monday Cumplir veinte aos el prximo lunes.
Tambin se usa para expresar cosas que ocurrirn aunque no estaban planeadas, cuando
ests de acuerdo en hacer algo que te acaban de proponer, improvisaciones, as como para
predecir ciertas cosas sin tener ningn tipo de indicio. Su estructura es la siguiente:

be going to

Empleamos going to para hablar de intenciones futuras; la accin puede estar lejana o prxima
en el tiempo.
Im never going to get married. Nunca me voy casar.

will

Usamos will para una decisin tomada en el momento de hablar:

Ill phone you later. Te llamar despus.
Tambin para expresar un futuro irremediable.
Theyll lose the match. Van a perder el partido.

presente continuo

Se usa para hablar de cosas que van a ocurrir con seguridad o que tenemos decididas para el
futuro (arrangements):
Im meeting Henry for lunch on Friday. Como con Henry el sbado.

El uso del going to y del presente continuo es muy semejante. Siempre se puede usar el going to en lugar del presente
continuo para hablar del futuro. El uso del presente continuo es ms limitado; solo se utiliza para hablar de cosas ya decididas.
