Good afternoon from the 2005 Glastonbury Festival. Im Julie Palmer, reporting for the Two OClock
News. Its a beautiful, sunny day here. There are people from all over the world. They are wearing
clothes from the 1960s long skirts, hats, sandals and trousers with pictures of flowers on them.
People are learning to make jewellery, dancing to the music or just lying in the sun. You can buy some
fantastic things from the 60s too. There are also some great bands here this year. The band
Stereophonics are playing today.

READING COMPREHENSION
Read the letter to Green Team and their reply. Then match the parts of the
sentences in A and B below.
Dear Green Team,
People are planning to build a factory in our neighbourhood. Some people are happy
about the factory because they can work there. But Im worried about air pollution. Smoke from
factories makes the air dirty. Then people must wear masks. I must do something to stop the
plans. What can I do? Who should I talk to?
Sam, England
Dear Sam,
You cant stop the plans alone. You must find other people to help you. You should
send a letter to a newspaper and write about the plans to build a factory. When people read
about the plans for the factory, they can get together and try to stop them. We can all do
something to protect our environment.

Are Computers Bad for Our Health?
Today, many people use computers at home or at work. Computers have made our lives
easier, but they are sometimes bad for our health. When you sit at a computer for too long, your
back hurts.
When you use a computer, its important to stop sometimes and exercise your back and
shoulders. David works on a computer at a bank. He has worked in the bank for four years. A year
ago, his back always hurt and he was often ill. Then he started to exercise twice a day. David
hasnt had a pain in his back since he started exercising and hes in great shape. He also sleeps
better now and he hasnt been ill for almost a year!
