Introduccin
Algunas veces es necesario restablecer la calculadora HP serie 48G para resolver algn problema. Existen varios tipos de restablecimiento, cada uno de los cuales puede afectar en mayor o menor medida la informacin que contiene la calculadora. En este documento se muestran los tres ms comunes.

Restablecer la calculadora parando el sistema

Al restablecer el dispositivo parando el sistema, se cancelarn todos los programas y operaciones del sistema que estn en ejecucin, adems de que se borrarn los datos de la pila, la seccin de memoria de almacenamiento temporal del sistema y la calculadora volver al directorio {HOME}, mostrando las teclas del men [MTH]. Para detener el sistema con el teclado, realice las siguientes acciones:

1. Si la calculadora no esta encendida, encienda la calculadora.

2. Pulse y mantenga pulsada la tecla ON .

3. Pulse la tecla C .

4. Suelte las dos teclas al mismo tiempo.

Restablecimiento del sistema con el botn de restablecimiento

ATENCIN: Con este tipo de restablecimiento, puede que la memoria se vea afectada. Lea todos los pasos antes de realizar este procedimiento. Coloque la calculadora hacia abajo y realice las siguientes acciones:

1. Remueva el soporte de goma de la parte superior derecha. Debajo de dicho soporte, junto a la letra "R " se encuentra un orificio que sirve para acceder al botn de restablecimiento. Si este orificio no est situado junto a la "R", retire el soporte de goma de la parte superior izquierda y compruebe que el orificio est situado bajo ste.

2. Extienda un clip de metal de tamao medio e insrtelo hasta el fondo en el orificio marcado con la "R " y mantngalo as durante, al menos, dos segundos.

3. Retire el clip, coloque la calculadora hacia arriba y pulse la tecla ON . Este procedimiento har que la calculadora se restablezca aunque, en algunos casos, puede que aparezca el mensaje "Try to recover memory ?" (Intentar recuperar memoria?).

4. Si aparece dicho mensaje, pulse la tecla A para intentar recuperar el contenido de la memoria o la tecla F para borrar la memoria del dispositivo. Al pulsar la tecla A , a veces los objetos de la memoria se recuperan en nuevos subdirectorios del directorio {HOME} denominados D.01, D.02, etc. Al pulsar la tecla F , toda la informacin almacenada por el usuario se borrar de la memoria de la calculadora.

NOTA: Este proceso tambin afecta a cualquier tarjeta RAM combinada con la memoria principal. Si la tarjeta no est combinada o si est protegida contra escritura, no se ver afectada por este restablecimiento.

Cmo realizar un restablecimiento de la memoria

ATENCIN: La memoria se ver afectada por este restablecimiento. Lea todos los pasos antes de realizar el restablecimiento. El restablecimiento de la memoria configurar la calculadora HP 48G a su estado predeterminado de fbrica, por lo que se borrarn los datos de la memoria, almacenados por el usuario. Utilice esta caracterstica con cuidado. 1. Encienda la calculadora.

2. Pulse y mantenga pulsadas a la vez las teclas ON , A y F . 3. Suelte las tres teclas al mismo tiempo. La calculadora mostrar el mensaje "Try to recover memory ?" (Intentar recuperar memoria?). 4. Pulse la tecla A para intentar recuperar la memoria o la tecla F para borrar los datos del usuario de la memoria del dispositivo. Al pulsar la tecla A , a veces los objetos de la memoria se recuperan en nuevos subdirectorios del directorio {HOME} denominados D.01, D.02, etc., aunque no se garantiza que se recuperen todas las variables. Al pulsar la tecla F , toda la informacin almacenada por el usuario se borrar de la memoria de la calculadora.

NOTA: Este proceso tambin afecta a cualquier tarjeta RAM que se haya combinado con la memoria principal. Si la tarjeta no est combinada o si est protegida contra escritura, no se ver afectada por este restablecimiento.

Cmo liberar una tarjeta RAM combinada de la memoria del usuario

1. Pulse la tecla Mays izquierda, la tecla { } y la tecla ENTER para introducir la lista vaca. 2. Pulse la tecla Mays izquierda y la tecla [FREE1] del men de funcin LIBRARY. Si la tarjeta RAM ya est liberada (memoria del puerto), aparecer el error "Port Not Available " (Puerto no disponible) al ejecutar FREE1. Si no hay suficiente memoria disponible para liberar

la tarjeta RAM, se producir un error de memoria al ejecutar FREE1 (consulte la seccin que aparece a continuacin). 3. Opcional: apague la calculadora HP 48GX y retire la tarjeta. Consulte la seccin "Cmo retirar una tarjeta complementaria" de este documento.

NOTA: Para comprobar la cantidad de memoria usada por el usuario, pulse la tecla Mays izquierda, la tecla MEMORY y el men de funcin [MEM]. El nmero devuelto es la cantidad en bytes de memoria del usuario no utilizada. Para liberar la tarjeta RAM, debe haber una cantidad de memoria no utilizada que sea mayor o igual al tamao de la tarjeta RAM. De lo contrario, la calculadora no tendr

suficiente memoria sin utilizar para asignar a la tarjeta.

Si no hay suficiente memoria del usuario para liberar una tarjeta RAM

Remueva las variables no necesarias de la memoria del usuario. Realice una copia de seguridad de los datos en una tarjeta RAM instalada en otra ranura para la tarjeta y a continuacin, depure las variables originales. Haga una copia de seguridad de los datos en el puerto 0, depure los originales y mueva los objetos de copia de seguridad a la tarjeta RAM conforme se vayan liberando (consulte la siguiente seccin).

Cmo liberar una tarjeta RAM combinada y mover a ella objetos de copia de seguridad
1. Haga una copia de seguridad de los objetos que desee en el puerto 0. 2. Introduzca una lista (con delimitadores { } ) que contenga los nombres sencillos de los objetos de copia de seguridad en el puerto 0. 3. Pulse la tecla Mays izquierda, la tecla MEMORY y la tecla del men de funcin [FREE1] . Los objetos nombrados en la lista se eliminan del puerto 0 y se almacenan en la tarjeta RAM que se acaba de liberar (en la memoria del puerto).

4. Opcional: apague la calculadora HP 48 y retire la tarjeta. Consulte la siguiente seccin "Cmo retirar una tarjeta complementaria".

Cmo retirar una tarjeta complementaria

ATENCIN: Nunca retire una tarjeta RAM que contenga memoria combinada. Esto provocara una prdida de datos almacenados en la memoria del usuario. Antes de retirar la tarjeta RAM, se debe liberar la memoria combinada. Si una tarjeta con memoria combinada se retira por error y aparece el mensaje "Replace RAM card, Press On" (Sustituir tarjeta RAM, pulse ON), vuelva a insertar la tarjeta en el mismo puerto y pulse la tecla ON .

1. Antes de retirar la tarjeta RAM de la ranura para la tarjeta 1, asegrese de que la memoria est liberada y sin combinar . Consulte la seccin de precaucin especificada anteriormente y la siguiente seccin: Comprobacin del tipo de memoria en un puerto. 2. Apague la calculadora. No pulse la tecla ON hasta que se haya retirado la tarjeta. 3. Retire la cubierta del puerto. 4. Presione la pestaa y extraiga la tarjeta del puerto. 5. Vuelva a colocar la cubierta del puerto.

Comprobacin del tipo de memoria de un puerto

Introduzca el nmero de puerto y pulse la tecla Mays izquierda, la tecla LIBRARY y el men de funcin [PVARS]. El resultado del nivel uno indica el tipo de memoria:
Pantalla ROM Explicacin ROM en una tarjeta de aplicacin. Memoria del usuario combinada en una tarjeta RAM. Memoria del puerto libre en una tarjeta RAM.

When the calculator "boots up" it scans all the ports, while recording the locations of any library objects and also checking the CRC of each backup/library object encountered. If a corrupt object is found, then an "Invalid Card Data" error is generated .----------Try typing PINIT and see if the problem goes away. ThePINIT command scans all the

ports and (re)writes this info in them. (It doesn't erase or otherwise affect any files already stored in the ports.) The "invalid card data" message just means that at least one port's header information has become corrupted and needs to be rebuilt with PINIT.---------Also make sure the memory car is properly inserted and not got loose or partially inserted. Hello, You should perform the dagnostic tests. The following procedure valid for the 48G should work for the HP48GX. Make the calculator perform a Self test. 1. Turn calculator on 2. Press and HOLD the key [ON] 3. Press and release the key with "E" to its right (the one before last in first row) 4. Relaese the [ON] key. It tests the RAM and ROM. You will see various patterns on screen. Afterwards you should see IROM OK, IRAM OK,

HP48GX OK The self test will continue repeatedly until you perform a System Halt 1. 2. 3. Press and HOLD the [ON] key Press and release the "C" key Release the [ON] key.

The empty stack should appear. If you do not see IROM OK and IRAM OK, the calculator requires service. If the above procedure is successful, you may want to test the keyboard. 1. 2. 3. Turn calculator on Press and HOLD the [ON] key Press and release the "D" key.

4. Release the [ON] key 5. Press and release the "E" key. KBD 1 should appear on the top left corner of the screen. 6. Starting at the upper left corner of the keyboard, and moving Left to right, press every key in sequence. If you follow the sequence and the keys are functioning properly you should hear a hight pitch sound at each press. 7. If everything is OK, when you press the last key (+) the screen displays KBD 1 OK. To exit the keyboard test proceed as described above under System Halt. If you follow the proper sequence and a hexadecimal number appears after pressing a key, the calculator requires service. Hope it helps.

Hello, . You can reset the calculator: Turn the back of the calculator towards you. Extract the top left rubber pad on the back of the calculator and use a paper clip

to press the Reset button. If that does not restore the calculator to health, you should perform the dagnostic tests. The following procedure valid for the 48G should work for the HP48GX. Introduction The message Invalid card data appears when the calculator is not able to properly read data on the plug-in card. The card may not be correctly installed, or it may not be initialized. This document describes how to resolve this.

Step One: Verify the plug-in card is inserted correctly

If the card is not correctly installed, the Invalid card data message will appear. Verify the plugin card is inserted correctly.

If not, remove the card and reinsert it into the card slot. Make sure the card is lined up properly with the card slot opening.

Step Two: RAM card or port not initialized

If the message appeared after a new RAM card was installed or when a RAM card contains ports that have not been used:

The message may be disregarded. Ports will be initialized automatically the first time they are used. To eliminate the message follow these steps: Press LS , LIBRARY , NXT , then the PINIT soft menu key to initialize all available RAM ports. (The PINIT command will not affect data currently stored in any port.)

Step Three: If the problem persists

If the problem persists, with the card correctly inserted and initialized, remove the batteries and allow the unit to sit for 48 hours. After 48 hours, replace the batteries.
