ABSTRACT
The article discusses the Newton-Raphson method, an iterative method used to find approximations of roots of a function.
Unlike other methods, this method is based on an iterative process instead of working with intervals. The method consists of
drawing a tangent line to the curve at a point and finding the point on the x-axis where the line intersects, which will be the
next approximation to the root.
It is noted that the method converges quickly to the root in the cases where it converges, but there is no guarantee that it
always approximates the root. In addition, the method cannot be applied if the derivative of the function is zero at the initial
point.
The article also mentions that the convergence of the method can be determined using the expression for the fixed point
method. If a certain condition is satisfied, the Newton-Raphson method will be convergent. In summary, the article provides
a detailed description of the Newton-Raphson method, its characteristics and limitations.
