outlets, social media
and internet sites are
full of false narratives,
bogus arguments and
lies about immigration and immi-
grants. Let’s separate the truth from
the false. Due to the newly enacted
open borders policy the US is be-
ing invaded at its southern border
by drug smugglers, rapists and all
manner of criminals.
America going back to colonial
times has had an open borders pol-
icy. Everyone had free access into
America. However, once it became
a nation, laws were passed which
banned Chinese nationals in 1882
from immigrating to the US and
immigrants from Japan in 1907.
Until the 1920s other than the ban
on Chinese and Japanese nationals
all who wanted could come and set-
tle in America/US.
Not only was there an open borders
policy, colonial governments and
later the fledgling US government
actively encouraged immigrants
to come to populate and develop
the colonies and later the nation.
Very few of them had any records
or documentation. More important
none were asked.
The early immigrants were not re-
quired to make an application or
register to come to America and
later the US. They were not given
tests. There was no requirement to
speak English. There were no re-
quirements after the US was formed
for them to seek citizenship. Nor
was there any demand.
In the 1920s, the US enacted laws
which adopted for the first time
ever a formal registration and ap-
plication process for individuals
seeking to immigrate to the US. It
also established quotas as to the
number of persons entitled to come
from each country.
Those immigration laws did not
establish any quotas for individu-
als who sought to immigrate from
the Caribbean, Mexico, Central or
South American. Individuals from
those areas were free to immigrate
to the US.

The Truth About Immigrant
by various political elements in the
US today is false and simply devoid
of the facts.The overwhelming ma-
jority of the millions of immigrants
who came to America/US from its
inception came through completely
open borders with no paperwork,
no documents and none was asked.
Immigrants and open
borders are responsible
for the US drug crisis.
The US indeed is experiencing a
drug and substance abuse crisis.
But it is not because of immigra-
tion. The US drug crisis is because
there are too many people living in
the US who feel and/or must use
drugs and other substances to get
them through the day.
It is the typical supply and demand
equation. If there is a demand there
is a supply. If there is no demand
there is no supply. According to
arrest records, the overwhelming
majority of illegal drugs entering
the US are not being brought in
by immigrants or foreign nationals
but US citizens.
The US has a mental health chal-
lenge which as a nation it refuses
to acknowledge and address. Drug
and substance abuse is just one of
the symptoms of the mental health
challenge the US is experiencing.
Immigrants are taking
American jobs.
The xenophobes, and others are
correct, immigrants come into the
US and take American jobs. How-
ever, they are not taking jobs from

Americans. They are doing the jobs
that Americans are unwilling and
refuse to do.
These immigrants believe in the
American dream. Native born Amer-
icans believe in hitting the lottery
or suing someone for a big payday.
As for native born Americans 40 or
younger they all want to be creators
and influencers. Thank goodness for
the immigrants otherwise we would
probably starve to death.
Currently, immigrants
are costing the
taxpayers money and
are receiving all these
government benefits.
Totally untrue. The very opposite is
true.
Recent Immigrants are not being
given any special benefits nor are
they asking for any. Their desire
is the same as immigrants since
the inception of America and that
is to be able to “sit under their fig
and none make them afraid”, be-
ing able to provide for their fam-
ilies and see their children have a
better life than they did.
Not only do immigrants not eat up
tax dollars, immigrants add to tax
coffers when they purchase cloth-
ing, food and other necessities.
A wave of immigrants
are flooding the
southern border.
That is true. But it is like the
story of the two orphans who

cried that they were orphans af-
ter killing their parents. The hu-
manitarian crises at the south-
ern border is the direct result of
bad US political and econom-
ic foreign policies over many
years ago back to the late 1940s
in dealing with the Caribbean,
Mexico, and Central and South
America. For every action there
is an equal and opposite reac-
tion.
Currently, there is a wave of
Venezuelan immigrants at the
southern border. For years the
US government attempted to de-
stabilize the Venezuelan govern-
ment and its economy because it
refused to be a US puppet. If you
destabilize a nation you can ex-
pect the people from that nation
to end up at your borders.
There are a host of other false
narratives and spins that will be
presented by a wide cast of char-
latans, imposters and just plain
liars especially with the 2024
presidential election next year.
Be alert, be cautious, be watch-
ful. Don’t fall for the okey-doke.
It is probably asking too much
but hopeful there will be those
who will attempt to focus on
the real issues facing Ameri-
cans. Not fake narratives, bo-
gus issues, irrational conspir-
acy theories, fairy tales and
other distractions being spread
throughout the internet, social
media sites and
on cable news
outlets.

ored by the North Clinton Avenue
Benevolence Project, Inc., with its
“Speak Truth To Power Award”.
There are many words that come
to mind when one hears the name
Kamua Kujichagulia. One such
word is self-determined, which in
Swahili is Kujichagulia.
Kujichagulia is one of the seven
principles of Kwanzaa and reflects
the right and duty of Blacks to de-
fine and name themselves, as well
as to create and speak for them-
selves. Kamua Kujichagulia created
and has used The Nubian News to
help define and speak for Blacks in
the Greater Trenton area, the state,
US and throughout the world.
Since the launch of The Nubian
News in September 1989, Kamua
Kujichagulia has been an advocate,
promoter, cheerleader for Black,
Latinx and and other people of
color obtaining social, economic,
political and spiritual power. At
the same time, he has been a lead-
ing voice, at times the only voice to
challenge AmeriKKKa’s racism and
the system of white supremacy.
He has made sure The Nubian News
remains immersed in the issues,
topics and concerns that impact
Black and Latinx lives that other
media outlets refuse to address. He
has tackled those issues, topics and
concerns head on and forthright.
He has not been concerned about
being politically correct.
Since the inception of The Nubian

itus has remained unapologetic, un-

in the pursuit of justice for Black,

year that President
Barack Obama suc-
cessfully ran for re-
election 66 percent
of all eligible Black voters voted.
Eight years later in 2020 the num-
ber of eligible Black voters who
voted dropped to 62.659 percent.
The voter turnout for Hispanic/
Latinx voters in 2012 was 48 per-
cent. In 2016, the turnout rate for
Hispanic/Latinx voters was 47.6
percent.
Certain nefarious, satanic forc-
es, some foreign others domestic,
are hoping the turnout of eligible
Black and Hispanic/Latinx voters
is depressed. These nefarious, sa-
tanic forces are working hard to
hoodwink and bamboozle Black
and Hispanic/Latinx voters to not
vote. They hope that Blacks and
Hispanic/Latinx voters will not
vote thereby silencing their voice
and stealing their vote.
According to US intelligence
agencies, Russian sponsored op-
eratives have been attempting
to cause chaos and confusion to
undermine the election and pub-
lic confidence in the US political
system. These Russian sponsored
operatives have targeted Black and
Hispanic/Latinx voters as well as
others with the hope of growing
mistrust, division and alienation.
They have been successful.
The Russian however are not the
only ones hoping to depress and
suppress the Black and Hispanic/
Latinx vote. Many Republican con-
trolled state legislatures since the
2020 election have enacted laws
that many believe would make it
more difficult for Black and His-
panic/Latinx residents to vote.
With the exception of the role Rus-
sian operatives have played tactics
to suppress Black and Hispanic/
Latinx turnout are nothing new. In
the past the Klan and others used
lynching, poll taxes, bombs and
murder to frighten and intimidate
Blacks and Hispanic/Latinx voters
from voting. Today they have sub-
stituted burning crosses, hoods and
white sheets with more sophisticat-
ed techniques to suppress and steal
the Black and Hispanic/Latinx vote.

Con # 1 - Voting Online
An individual can register to vote
online with their county election
office. However, You Can Not Vote
Online. If you’re encouraged to
vote online it is a con. Your vote
would have been stolen and you
will be just another election sup-
pression statistic.
Con # 2 - You Can’t Vote After
The Polls Officially Close
If you’re in line prior to the official
closing time for voting to end as
long as you remain in line you are
entitled to vote. If told otherwise it
is a con.If you have a long wait time
to cast your vote wear comfortable
shoes, bring a folding chair, bever-
ages, food, and music to get you to
the finish line, the polling booth.
Con # 3 - You Can Only Vote At
Your Designated Polling Place
A voter is assigned a designated
polling place to vote. However, on
election day you are unable to vote
at your designated polling place
before the polls officially close.
You don’t vote because you have
been told you can only vote at your
designated polling place, you’ve

been conned. A voter can vote at
any polling place in their town by
requesting a provisional ballot.
Con # 4 - Pre-Election Mail Bal-
loting Deadlines Mailers
Various groups in the past have
mailed pre-election mailers with
information regarding mail-in
ballots. Some of these pre-election
mailers are legitimate with good
information. However, others
have sent misinformation which
contradicts election law. If voters
follow such misleading and incor-
rect information their votes may
end up invalid and thus stolen. It is
important for voters to know and
follow their county/state mail-in
ballot deadline guidelines.
Con # 5 - Voting Delivery
Services
Beware of individuals indicating
they are from the county or federal
election office/bureau/commission
collecting mail-in ballots to take to
election offices for your convenience.
It is a con. Your mail-in ballot is like
money, guard it, fill it out and put it in
the mail as soon as you get it.
Con # 6 - Facebook, Twitter (now
called X) And Other Social Me-
dia Hoaxes
Russian sponsored operatives have

been successful in having people
believe that certain websites on
Facebook and tweets on Twitter
were legitimate. Such operatives
created websites on Facebook that
purported to be Black and His-
panic/Latinx activist groups.
However, they are bogus websites
with false and misleading infor-
mation deliberately intended to
deceive Black and Hispanic/Lat-
inx voters. False information has
been used in the past that ICE and
police agents were planning to
raid polling places.
The goal of the latter was to intim-
idate Black and Latinx voters from
voting.
You believe you are talking with
a fellow traveler on Facebook or
Twitter when in fact it is Putin’s
cousin or some white supremacist
sicko. For your health and safety
you may want to stay off of Face-
book and Twitter altogether.
Con # 7 - Believing That Your
Vote Doesn’t Matter
Believing that one’s vote doesn’t
matter; that it doesn’t count; things
won’t change or politicians are all
the same is the biggest con of all.
That con was not developed by
Russian sponsored operatives. It
has been around a long time. It
plays into the hands of those who
want to keep Blacks and Hispanic/
Latinx voters where they are and
maintain the status quo.
Black and Hispanic/Latinx voters
seem to have brought this falsehood
line, hook and sinker. It will be a
huge mistake if Black and Hispanic/
Latinx voters fall for the okie doke
and believe that regardless of who
wins things will remain the same.
If you think things are bad now let

diagnosticada con una
enfermedad denominada leucodris-
trofia metacromática la cual afecta
directamente al sistema nervioso
central. La leucodristrofia es una
rara enfermedad que no tiene cura
y afecta gradualmente la médula es-
pinal y cerebro, ocasiona parálisis y
demencia progresiva deteriorando
física y mentalmente la salud de los
niños y niñas que la adquieren.
Hoy en día, Rose ya no puede cami-
nar, ni comer, ni jugar, ni bromea
como lo hacía antes. La enfermedad

Ecuador
E
l pasado 15 de octubre
Ecuador eligió a su nue-
vo presidente. Con el
52% de los votos el joven
empresario Daniel No-
boa superó a su contrincante Lui-
sa González, quien representaba al
movimiento correísta.
El mandato será corto pues Noboa
será presidente solamente por el res-
to de periodo que le queda al pre-
sidente Guillermo Lasso, es decir,
hasta mayo de 2025; esto debido a la
“muerte cruzada” que invocó Gui-
llermo Lasso una vez se inició el jui-
cio político en su contra.
Ecuador atraviesa un pico de in-
seguridad y Noboa ha prometido
combatir esta problemática median-
te mecanismos de inteligencia como
el uso de drones, mapeo satelital,
patrullas blindadas, entre otras es-
trategias.
Además Noboa se comprometió a
crear empleo mediante el apoyo a
pequeñas y medianas empresas, re-
ducción de la tasa de interés en los
bancos, fortalecer la dolarización
del país, y también
promete mejorar
el sistema pe-

minuyan el enfrentamiento entre
pandillas y promueva la reintegra-
ción de personas en la sociedad. Hay
quienes afirman que sus propuestas
son ambiciosas para su corto perio-
do de 17 meses, por lo pronto ha ini-
ciado la transición del gobierno para
que Noboa asuma su cargo lo más
pronto posible (El País 15/10/2023;
CNN 15/10/2023).

A
caba de culminar una
cumbre migratoria en
donde se reunieron
12 países latinoame-
ricanos incluyendo a
Colombia, Cuba, Haití, Honduras,
Venezuela, El Salvador, Belice, Costa
Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Panamá
y México. El gran resultado de esta
cumbre fue el rechazo colectivo a
las medidas coercitivas a migrantes
y refugiados; y la promesa de respe-
tar el derecho humano a migrar, así
como la petición de más alternativas
legales para la migración.
Los países asistentes a esta Cumbre
han sido destino y país transitorio
de miles y hasta millones de per-
sonas que buscan un futuro mejor,
muchos de ellos intentan llegar a
Estados Unidos. La mayoría de per-
sonas que migran por esta zona pro-
vienen de Venezuela y Haití, pero
también Colombia, Ecuador, Hon-
duras, El Salvador, e incluso hay
registros de migrantes y refugiados
que eligen esta ruta para intentar
llegar a Norteamérica. Por ello, los
países asistentes a esta cumbre se

comprometieron a fortalecer la in-
tegración de personas extranjeras, y
la opción de regularización perma-
nente de su estatus migratorio, esto
con el fin de que puedan acceder fá-
cilmente a empleos e incorporarse
en la comunidad.
Los gobiernos también se compro-
metieron a apoyar a la República de
Haití para “restablecer un entorno
de seguridad humana”, y esfuerzos
para replantear la arquitectura fi-
nanciera internacional de la deuda
soberana en Latinoamérica.
El presidente Manuel López Obra-
dor le compartirá esta postura re-
gional al presidente estadouniden-
se Joe Biden en una reunión que
tienen programada para el mes de
noviembre.
Además de la migración los paí-
ses consideran esencial reducir
las causas estructurales que cau-
san la migración forzada, por
ello buscan fomentar el empleo,
la educación, la seguridad ener-
gética, la recuperación del sector
agrícola, la soberanía alimentaria
y combatir el crimen transnacio-
nal, la corrupción y el tráfico de
personas.
Todo esto con el fin de crear un
ambiente seguro que ayude a re-
ducir las altas cifras de migrantes
y refugiados usando rutas irregu-
lares en las que ponen en riesgo
su vida, como lo son el tapón del
Darién, o el cruce ilegal a Estados
Unidos.
En el 2024 se propone hacer otro
diálogo entre países para coordi-

nar la implementación de estas

Venezuela:

l 23 de octubre del
presente año, se lleva-
ron a cabo elecciones
para lo que es la elec-
ción de candidatos de
la oposición en Venezuela y en
diferentes lugares donde pudie-
ron asistir los venezolanos en el
exterior.
La candidata de centro derecha
Maria Corina Machado arrasó
consiguiendo el 92,5% de los vo-
tos con el 64,88% del escrutinio.
Este resultado demuestra la gran
popularidad de Machado y el des-
contento de los venezolanos fren-
te al gobierno autoritario que rige
actualmente.
Según la Contraloría General de
Venezuela (CGV) Maria Corina
se encuentra inhabilitada para
postularse a cargos de elección
popular durante 15 años por su-
puesto fraude en su declaración
patrimonial. Acusación a la cual
se niega la candidata.
Es incierto si la Contraloría Ge-
neral de Venezuela aprobará la
candidatura de Machado. Las
elecciones presidenciales no tie-
nen fecha fija pero se estima que
se realizarán el primer semestre
de 2024 (El País 23/10/2023; NY
Times 22/10/2023).

RENTON.- El pasado
sábado 28 de octu-
bre en el 200 de la N.
Broad Street, se reali-
zó la primera reunión
comunitaria donde se habló sobre
el tema de salud mental.
Lamentablemente pocas personas
de la comunidad hispana asistie-
ron a este evento que sin duda
podría ser útil para aquellas per-
sonas: niños, jóvenes y adultos
que enfrentan problemas de salud
mental como falta de armonía con
La conversación se realizó en un
ambiente de respeto y sin juzga-
mientos.
La próxima reunión de esta se-
rie de reuniones comunitarias se
realizará el jueves 9 de noviem-
bre a partir de las 11:00AM hasta
las 2:00 PM, en el 319 East State
Street Trenton (City Hall).
La actividad es coordinada por
la concejal Crystal Feliciano en
alianza con el Departamento de
Salud de la ciudad de Trenton.

RENTON.- El plan de
asfaltado de calles con-
tinúan en marcha en la
ciudad de Trenton. El
alcalde Reed Gusciora
ha señalado que el asfaltado de las
calles en mal estado es prioridad du-
rante su administración.
El actual alcalde manifestó que alre-
dedor de 50 calles serán asfaltadas
con el objetivo de impulsar el desa-
rrollo económico y social en la capi-
tal de Nueva Jersey.
Señaló que está consiente que en el
sur de la ciudad hay muchas calles
y avenidas que requieren ser atendi-
das lo antes posible.

se reúnen para discutir necesidades locales

RENTON.- El pasado
viernes 27 de octubre
en el salón de Frankye’s
Restaurant, se realizó la
primera reunión comu-
nitaria con la presencia del alcalde
Reed Gusciora, director de policía
Steve Wilson, algunas concejales,
directores de la administración mu-
nicipal y miembros de la comunidad
latina del sur de Trenton.
El evento fue organizado por Latino
Merchants Association, en alianza con
la concejal del distrito sur Jenna Figue-
roa y Fredy Barrientos quien ofreció el
local y refrescos para quienes asistie-
ron a la reunión.
“Básicamente es para conocernos,
saber cuáles son nuestros roles y
luego escuchar a la comunidad cuá-
les son sus necesidades” indicó la
concejal Figueroa quien coordinó la
mesa de trabajo.
En su intervención, el alcalde pidió a
los miembros de la comunidad que in-
formen al departamento de policía de
cualquier crimen o hechos vandálicos
que conozcan o se den en su vecinda-
rio. Afirmó que el estatus migratorio
de las personas recién llegadas no debe
ser motivo de preocupación al mo-
mento de llamar a la policía para de-
nunciar cualquier crimen o estafa que
ocurra en la ciudad.
En la reunión se pudo evidenciar que
había más personas administrativas de
la ciudad que ciudadanos residentes de
Trenton. Evidentemente el horario de
la reunión, la falta de difusión y promo-
ción del evento no permitió que haya
una mayor participación de miembros
de la comunidad en general. Sin duda,
una mayor participación de personas
de la comunidad servirá para tener un
mayor conocimiento de las verdaderas
necesidades que tiene la ciudadanía.
Caso contrario este tipo de reuniones
“comunitarias” serán inútiles.

Alcalde Gusciora visita negocio en Trenton

RENTON.- El alcalde
de Trenton Reed Gus-
ciora visitó el pasado
martes 17 de octubre
la panadería “Las De-
licias Bakery” un pequeño negocio
ubicado en el 876 Beatty Street en
Trenton, NJ.
Para muchos este gesto es valioso
ya que el alcalde tiene la oportuni-
dad de conocer de primera mano
las realidades y necesidades que
enfrentan los pequeños negocios
de la comunidad.
El alcalde Gusciora recorrió y
conoció el proceso de hornear
el pan y las delicias que ma-
ñana tras mañana un grupo de
jóvenes hispanos preparan para
sus clientes.
El alcalde durante el recorrido
recibió elogios de los invitados
y además saboreó un exquisito
pastel de tres leches hecho en
Las Delicias.
Gusciora también se dio tiempo
para contestar algunas preguntas
de la prensa.
“Es uno de los mejores alcaldes
que hemos tenido” señaló Fede-
rico “Lico” Sanic, propietario del
pequeño negocio, el cual es una de
las primeras panaderías hispanas
que se abrieron en la ciudad de
Trenton.
