El 2 de octubre de 2023, se hizo pública una entrevista en El Mundo bajo el

titular "Alfonso Pérez: 'Obligaría a Guardiola y a las chicas de la selección

femenina a besar la bandera española'. La entrevista se desarrolló sin problemas
hasta que, cerca del final, le preguntaron: "Tú, que sientes tanto la selección,
¿cómo estás viendo todo lo sucedido con la femenina?" A lo que respondió:
"Creo que no puede ser equiparable para nada el fútbol femenino y el masculino
porque todo va en función de los ingresos que generes y de la repercusión
mediática." Luego, este exfutbolista dio las declaraciones que aparecen en el
titular. Rápidamente, los medios de comunicación comenzaron a crear polémica
con insultos y críticas hacia él. Días después, el estadio del Getafe, que llevaba
su nombre, "Colliseum Alfonso Pérez," debido a la ayuda y el legado que había
aportado al equipo, cambió su nombre debido a la controversia.

Después de leer estos acontecimientos y reflexionar sobre ellos, me surgieron

algunas preguntas. ¿Tenemos realmente derecho a expresar nuestra opinión?
¿Estas personas defienden de verdad la libertad de expresión? La libertad de
expresión se define como "el derecho de un individuo o un grupo para expresar
sus opiniones e ideas sin temor a represalias, censura o sanciones posteriores".
A mi entender, independientemente de lo que dijo Alfonso Pérez, parece que en
los medios no se garantiza esta libertad de expresión. Sin embargo, ¿Prohibir
que las personas se quejen o expresen su desacuerdo no sería algo hipócrita?

Por esto yo estoy a favor de que se permita insultar a alguien por expresar su
opinión, porque al fin al cabo es algo que no se puede controlar, y quienes se
quejan también están ejerciendo su derecho a la libertad de expresión, pero
muchísimo menos testimonios que además de ser totalmente coherentes no
quisieron ofender a nadie. Quitarle el nombre a un estadio o que enfrente
consecuencias legales me parecería una violacion de los derechos humanos.

Ahora bien, considerando lo que dijo Alfonso Pérez, creo que tiene razón. La idea
de que "el que más genera más gana" tiene todo el sentido, no podemos
comparar fútbol femenino y masculino, que gane el que más genera y ya. Sin
embargo, debemos recordar que expresar nuestras opiniones en público siempre
conlleva riesgos, ya que habrá personas que discrepan y te critiquen y es
incontrolable.

"Alfonso Pérez: 'I would make Guardiola and the women of the national team
kiss the Spanish flag.'" The interview proceeded without issues until, near the
end, he was asked:¨– "You, who feel so strongly about the national team, how
do you view everything that has happened with the women's team?" To which he
replied, "I believe that women's and men's football can't be equated at all
because it all depends on the income you generate and the media impact."
Subsequently, this former footballer made the statements that appear in the
headline. Quickly, the media began to stir controversy with insults and criticism
towards him. A few days later, the Getafe stadium, which was named "Coliseum
Alfonso Pérez" in recognition of his contributions to the team, changed its name
due to the controversy.

After reading about these events and reflecting on them, I had some questions.
Do we truly have the right to express our opinions? Do these people genuinely
support freedom of speech? Freedom of speech is defined as "the right of an
individual or a group to express their opinions and ideas without fear of
retaliation, censorship, or subsequent sanctions." In my view, regardless of what
Alfonso Pérez said, it seems that freedom of speech is not always upheld in the
media. However, would it not be hypocritical to prohibit people from complaining
or expressing their disagreement?

Because of this, I am in favour of allowing insults when someone expresses their

opinion since, ultimately, this is something that can't be controlled, and those
who complain are also exercising their right to freedom of speech, although it
should be noted that using offensive language is not encouraged. Removing a
stadium's name or subjecting someone to legal consequences, in my opinion,
would be a violation of human rights.

Now, considering what Alfonso Pérez said, I believe he is right. The notion that
"those who generate more income should earn more" makes perfect sense.
Women's and men's football can't be compared, the one that generates more
should earn more. However, we must remember that expressing our opinions in
public always carries risks, as there will be individuals who disagree and criticise,
and We haven’t got control of it.
