El 666 ha fascinado a gran cantidad de autores,
especialmente a los ensayistas que hoy nos empe-
ñamos en encontrar correspondencias entre lo dia-
bólico de ciertas estrofas y este número.
Baudelaire, romántico y simbolista a la vez, encabe-
za mi lista de poetas que no logran escapar de las
influencias del 666. Su poesía, fluctuante entre lo
elevado y lo pernicioso, señala el acceso a la escri-
tura moderna y su énfasis en lo urbano.
Como Baudelaire, Fernando Bermúdez deja ver el
influjo del número en su literatura. Una operación
matemática nos lleva al 666, mientras que las re-
flexiones nos conducen por una serie de oposicio-
nes que van de lo alto a lo bajo, de lo ideal a lo
imperfecto, transitando siempre por lo intrigante.
Cada frase rinde un desvergonzado homenaje ―confieso que
extravagante― a lo incomprensible. Bermúdez apela a la gran
paradoja que entraña el 666 en sí mismo.
Para los cristianos, es la base numérica que revela a la trinidad
satánica; para los judíos, es un número místico y sagrado, pues
representa las seis direcciones del espacio: arriba, abajo, norte,
sur, este y oeste.
Ante las discrepancias de sentido que existen entre una reflexión
y otra, solo cabe añadir que son el obvio resultado de dejarse
arrastrar por un sentimiento, con frecuencia apasionado, como
lo demuestran las expresiones alusivas a lo peor de la política,
la religión y las suegras, frente a lo humano de los animales y lo
sublime del amor.
A veces hacia el norte y otras al sur; aquí está el encanto de este

libro, que nos sirve según sople el viento en nues-
tras vidas, de acuerdo a la página que abramos.
Dentro de tal diversidad temática, invertir tiempo
en la búsqueda de unidad y coherencia, sería in-
currir en el juego intencional de todo prólogo, que
se regodea en el convencimiento propio ―falso,
como todos los escritores conocen― de que un li-
bro es excelente en la medida que recurre a estas
“cualidades imprescindibles” de todo buen discur-
so, de todo buen texto.
Apelando al uso de los libros como obsequio, éste
llama la atención por su mismo diseño y edición.
Pensado para todos los públicos, desde el más cul-
to hasta el menos familiarizado con lo literarío, no

insiste sobre su carácter retórico, sino que reposa en la intención
de crear un espacio para la polémica.
Continuando con “las malas maneras” de hacer un prólogo, que
comenzó refiriendo a Charles Baudelaire; termino parafraseando
a Augusto Monterroso; cuando en realidad no deben perder de
vista que se trata de una colección de Fernando Bermúdez Ardi-
la. Escribió Monterroso, sobre el horror a la diversidad del cual se
hace eco todo prólogo, siguiendo por “el camino de las verdades
que hay que sostener, de las mentiras que hay que combatir y
de las actitudes o los errores del mundo que hay que condenar”.
Tampoco olvidemos: la suma de todos los números de la ruleta
es 666. ¡Juguemos!

The 666 has fascinated many authors, especially to
the essayists that today we insist to find correspon-
dences between the diabolic of certain verses and
this number.
Baudelaire, romantic and symbolist at the same
time, it is in the top of my poets list that does not
obtain to escape from the influences of 666. It is
poesy, fluctuating between the elevated and perni-
cious, points out the access in the modern writing
and its urban emphasis.
Like Baudelaire, Fernando Bermúdez let’s see the
influence of the number in its literature. A mathe-
matic operation takes us to 666, while the reflec-
tions drive us to an opposition series that go from
high to low, from the ideal to the imperfect, always
journeying by the intriguer.
Each phrase brings a shameless tribute * I confess very extrava-
gant * to the incomprehensible. Bermúdez appeals to the great
paradox that involves 666 in him.
For the Christians, is the numeric base that revels to the satanic
trinity; for the Jews, is a mystic and sacred number, because
it represents the six directions of the space: up, down, north,
south, east and west.
Before the discrepancies of sense that exist in between a re-
flection or other, it only fits to add that they are the obvious
result to let drag for a feeling, with frequently passion, like they
demonstrate the allusive expressions of the worst of politics, re-
ligion and suegras, in front of the human of the animals and the
sublime of the love.

Sometimes towards north and others towards
south; here is the charm of this book, what is use-
ful us depending where the wind of our lives blows,
according to the page that we open.
Inside of such thematic diversity, intervening time
in the research of unit and coherence, it would be
to incur in the intentional game of every prologue,
that is surrounded in the proper conviction * false,
as all the writers know * that a book is excellent in
the way that resorts to these “essential qualities” of
all good speech, of all good text.
Appealing in the use of the books as gifts, this one
calls the attention by its same design and edition.
Thinking for all the public, since the most cult until
the less familiarized with the literary, it does not

insist over its rhetoric character, but it rests in the intention to
create a polemic space.
Continuing with “the bad manners” of making a prologue that,
started referring at Charles Baudelaire, term paraphrasing at Au-
gusto Monterroso; when in reality you should keep in mind that
it refers to a collection of Fernando Bermúdez Ardila. Monterro-
so wrote, over the horror of the diversity in which it makes eco in
every prologue, following the “the path of the truths that have
to be sustain, of the lies that have to be battle and the attitudes
or the mistakes of the word that have to be condemn”.
Either we can forget: the addition of all numbers of the roulette
is 666. Let’s play!
