Pasaje San Martín (2) +
(1926) Junto al Edificio Gómez se ha convertido en símbolo del per-
fil urbano del microcentro mendocino. Nos ofrece su espléndida
concepción arquitectónica y sus asombrosos vitrales, piezas de in-
calculable valor por su factura en los hornos de carbón de un ta-
ller en Francia, antigua artesanía, hoy desaparecida.
San Martín Mall. (1926) Today it offers us its splendid architectural concept and its astonishing
stained-glass windows, pieces of invaluable worth for having been made in the charcoal ovens.

Es el corazón de la ciudad, excusa para el encuentro y el relax, sobre
todo en sus múltiples cafecitos, bajo su frondosa arboleda, al com-
pás de alguna banda que ofrece su concierto en las glorietas.
Sarmiento Pedestrian Walk. It is an ideal meeting place, where friends have their traditional
coffee, to the beat of a local band playing in one the many arbors in peatonal.
Plaza Independencia +++

Abarca cuatro manzanas de arboledas y juegos de agua. En ella se co-
bijan el Museo de Arte Moderno, el Teatro “Julio Quintanilla” y la “Pla-

za de las Artes” (feria artesanal). A su alrededor hay tradicionales
edificios como la Legislatura Provincial, el Colegio Nacional, el Teatro
Independencia y el Hotel Park Hyatt con su Casino Regency.
Plaza Independencia. It comprises four blocks where green spaces and fountains can be found.
The Modern Art Museum, Julio Quintanilla Theatre and the Artisans Market are located inside the
Plaza. It is surrounded by traditional buildings such as the Mendoza Legislature, Colegio Nacional,
Independencia Theatre and the Park Hyatt Hotel, including Regency Casino.

Ataviada de mayólicas, fuentes, arboledas y un mural de cerámica pin-
tada, donde se entrecruzan el fundador Pedro del Castillo y escenas del
Quijote y el Martín Fierro, en una declaración orgullosa del mestizaje.
Plaza España. Covered with tiles, fountains, trees and artisans, it
is almost a parabola of the origins of American civilizations. It’s that which explicitly states the pain-
ted ceramic mural of its central monument, where scenes of Quijote and Martín Fierro intertwine
with those of the founder Pedro del Castillo, in a proud declaration of mixed ancestry.
Plaza San Martín ++

En torno a esta plaza gravitan las más importantes firmas bancarias.
Frente a ella se encuentra la Basílica de San Francisco, de elevado valor
religioso y arquitectónico y en el centro la estatua ecuestre del Gral. San
Martín, réplica de la obra de José Daumas ubicada en la plaza homónima
de Capital Federal. Actualmente en remodelación.

Ex Banco Hipotecario (4) ++

El edificio del ex Banco Hipotecario Nacional hoy alberga la Secretaría
de Cultura de la provincia. Su imponente fachada de estilo renacentista
colonial en la versión neo plateresco muestra columnas surcadas por
relatos mitológicos y barroca ornamentación.
Former Mortgaging Bank. The building of the Former National
Mortgaging Bank now houses the Department of Culture of the province. Its beautiful front of neo-
plateristic style or its columns with mythological stories carved into them, invite to a close reading.
Espacio Contemporáneo de Arte ++

El ECA, recientemente reinaugurado, es uno de los museos destinado
a exhibir diferentes manifestaciones contemporáneas de la cultura re-
gional, nacional e internacional. Funciona en el edificio del Ex Banco
de Mendoza -declarado bien patrimonial. (9 de Julio esq. Gutierrez.)
Espacio Contemporáneo de Arte. The ECA, recently reopened, is one of the museums destined
to exhibit different contemporary manifestations of regional, national and international culture. It
works in the building of the former Bank of Mendoza - declared a heritage asset.

Es la calle de los turistas desde los tiempos del ferrocarril, exhibe prin-
cipalmente artesanías y productos regionales. En esta avenida se
ubica también el Mercado Central (1884), con sus tradicionales pues- 7
tos de frutas, carnes y su acogedor patio de comidas.
Las Heras Ave. This has been the street of tourists since the times of the railroad. A street of
commercial character, it exhibits principally regional products and craftsmanship. Here it is also the
Central Market (1884) with its traditional stall of fruit, meat and its welcoming food court.

En ella se concentra la movida nocturna de pubs, confiterías y
restobares. Antigua calle residencial que, desde hace algunos
años, se recicló como lugar de encuentro y esparcimiento, trans-
formándose así en el polo gastronómico

this traditional residential street to offer a great variety of opportunities to get together and have fun.

Barrio Civico +
La Casa de Gobierno y el Palacio de Justicia, con construcciones mo-
numentales e imponentes, componen el llamado “Barrio Cívico y se
convierten en custodios del Parque Ecológico ambientado con escul-
turas y fuentes de diferentes tamaños. El Palacio de Justicia presenta
una solemne fachada con catorce imponentes columnas redondas que,
junto a la escalinata de acceso, le dan un aire imperial y clásico. Caminando por este parque nos en-
contraremos con el Memorial de la Bandera de los Andes creado para el bicentenario y, hacia el oeste
con los edificios de la Aduana y el Centro de Congresos y Exposiciones. En el Memorial se exhibe la
bandera del Ejército Libertador al mando del General. San Martín.
Government District. The Government House and the Palace of Justice, with monumental and
imposing buildings, make up the so-called “Civic Neighborhood” . The Palace of Justice presents a
solemn facade with fourteen imposing round columns that give it an imperial and classic air. Walking
through this park we will find the Flag of the Andes Memorial created for the bicentennial and, to
the west with the Customs buildings and the Congress and Exhibition Center. In the Memorial the
flag of the Liberating Army under the command of the General is displayed. San Martin.

Esta rodeado de parques y posee una infraestructura versátil de tres
edificios que se complementan entre sí. El cuerpo central, la Enoteca
de las Artes y el moderno Auditorio “Angel Bustelo” ofrecen una res-
puesta a cada necesidad: desde congresos hasta fiestas populares.

buildings that complement each other. The central body, the “Enoteca de las Artes” and the modern

Terraza Mirador (10) ++

Desde la cumbre del edificio de la Municipalidad de la Capital, abier-
ta al público, se obtiene una inmejorable panorámica de la ciudad y
también de los alrededores con un visor de 50 km de alcance. Aquí se
desarrollan los ciclos de “Música y Vinos en las alturas”que invitan a
disfrutar un espectáculo musical, desde lo alto, y acompañarlo con
vinos de prestigiosas bodegas mendocinas.
Terrace View. From the top of the Municipal Capital, open to the public and located 30 meters
high, one finds an unbeatable panorama of the city oasis and the mountains. Furthermore, one can
see the surrounding countryside through a telescope with which you can see up to 50 km away.

En el corazón del Parque Central, se ubica la “Nave Cultural”.
A partir de la puesta en valor y refuncionalización de un
galpón ferroviario se ha generado un espacio para la exhibi-
ción de toda producción artística como espectáculos teatrales,
musicales, de danza, de cine, etc.
Central Park. At the heart of Central Park, recently opened
the "Cultural Nave" From the enhancement and refurbis-

EI Palmares Open Mall (Ruta Panamericana 2650, Godoy Cruz), el Men-
doza Plaza Shopping (Lat. Norte Acc. Este, Gllén.) y La Barraca Mall
(Las Cañas 1833, Gllén.) son los tres principales shopping. Poseen res-
taurantes, confiterías, juegos para niños y las salas de cine Cinemark,
Cinépolis y Cinemacenter.
Palmares Open Mall, Mendoza Plaza Shopping and La Barraca Mall
are modern and principal shopping mall. Its features a wide variety of stores, restaurants, coffee shops
and Cinemark, Cinépolis and Cinemacenter comprising movie theaters.
Otros sitios de interés

La Iglesia de la Carrodilla (1840), cuya Virgen se venera hoy como la
“Patrona de los Viñedos”. (Luján de Cuyo)
La zona residencial de Chacras de Coria, su plaza central con la em-
blemática parroquia y su feria de preciadas artesanías. Polo gastro-
nómico, enoturístico y mucha vida nocturna. (Luján de Cuyo)
El Museo Provincial de Bellas Artes "E. Guiñazú/Casa de Fader" que
fue la residencia del pintor franco-argentino Fernando Fader. Ha
sido recientemente reinaugurado luego de una cuidada remod-
elación. (Luján de Cuyo).

Museo del Pasado Cuyano (7) +
Casona construida en el año 1873, Monumento Histórico Nacional, re-
sidencia de los gobernadores Francisco y Emilio Civit, contiene una co-
lección de documentos históricos y mobiliario de los siglos XIX y XX.

ric Monument, residence of the governors Francisco and Emilio Civit,
contains a collection of historical documents and furniture from the 19th and 20th centuries.
Catedral de Loreto (12) +

En la Plaza Domingo F. Sarmiento se encuentra la Catedral de Men-
doza, muy apreciada por los vitrales de su sacristía, calificados como
lo más valioso en arte religioso que posee la provincia. Son antiguas
piezas traídas desde Francia por el primer obispo de Mendoza.

renowned for its stained glass, classified as the most valuable religious art in the province. Made

Recientemente reinaugurado, exhibe curiosas variedades ictíco-

Reúne una colección de saurios y serpientes vivas como: anacon-
da, cascabel, boa, yarará, falsa coral, pitones etc.
Anaconda Serpentarium. It gathers a collection of saurus and live
snakes such as: anaconda, rattlesnake, boa, yara, false coral, pythons etc.
Paseo Alameda ++
Debe su nombre a la decisión del Gral. San Martín de hacer plantar
aquí una trinchera de álamos. Presenta pubs, bares y restaurantes
con una gran actividad nocturna y, durante todo el día. También se
ubican aquí el Museo Histórico y la Biblioteca Pública San Martín,
creada en 1822, cuya fundación estuvo ligada al “Padre de la Pa-tria”
que donó 700 volúmenes.
Poplar Path. Its was given that name because General San
Martin ordered a poplar grove to be planted there. This walk runs alongside Tajamar Canal.
It features picturesque flower stalls, as well as pubs and bars where cultural events are held.
General San Martín Museum and Public Library is also to be highlighted.

Plaza Pedro del Castillo ++
Denominada originalmente “Plaza de Armas”(1562), fue el centro de
la ciudad vieja. Sus nombres posteriores hablan de las etapas de nues-
tro desarrollo histórico: desde el “Plaza Central” de 1810 hasta “Inde-
pendencia”, “Plaza de la Constitución”, etc.
Plaza Pedro del Castillo. Originally named “Plaza of Arms” (1562), it was the center of the old
city. Its former names show the different stages of our historical development.
Museo Area Fundacional (15) +++
En la intersección de las calles Beltrán y Videla Castillo, su llamativa
estructura aloja reliquias de la historia mendocina, como las ruinas de
la Casa Consistorial o Cabildo de 1749; de la fuente colonial o las del
matadero de 1877. Hay visitas guiadas al museo.
Foundation Museum. In the intersection of streets Beltrán and Videla Castillo, its flashy structure
houses relics from Mendoza’s history, like the ruins of the city hall or town council of 1749; of the
colonial fountain or of the slaughterhouse of 1877. Guided tours of the museum are offered in the
mornings and afternoons.
Ruinas de San Francisco (16) ++

Son los restos, sobrevivientes al terremoto de 1861, del templo que al-
bergó la imagen de la Virgen del Carmen de Cuyo. Construida en el
siglo XVII, perteneció a los jesuitas hasta su expulsión en 1767.
San Francisco Ruins. They are the remains, survivors of the earth- 11
quake of 1861, of the temple that housed the image of the Virgen del
Carmen de Cuyo. Built in the 17th century, it belonged to the Jesuits until its expulsion in 1767.
Museo Casa de San Martín (20) ++

Este museo constituye un lugar histórico puesto en valor que se
integra al Circuito Sanmartiniano de Mendoza. Entre 1814 y 1817
residió aquí José de San Martín con su esposa Remedios de
Escalada, la que dio a luz a su hija Mercedes en este mismo lugar
el 24 de agosto de 1816. Aquí también se bordó la Bandera de los
Andes. Actualmente, este complejo permite visitar los trabajos
arqueológicos realizados.
San Martin House Museum. This museum constitutes a his-
torical place put in value that integrates to the Sanmartiniano Cir-
cuit of Mendoza. Between 1814 and 1817 José de San Martín lived here with his wife Remedios
de Escalada, who gave birth to his daughter Mercedes in this same place on August 24, 1816.
Currently, this complex allows you to visit the archaeological works performed.
Campo El Plumerillo las heras ++

Originalmente era la finca de Clemente Segura, quien la cedió para
facilitar la preparación de las huestes libertadoras de América. Hoy
se ha recostruido el predio como se encontraba en 1816.
El Plumerillo Field. It was originally Clemente Segura’s farm.
He transferred it to facilitate the liberation army’s preparations.
The premises have been rebuilt to resemble what they looked
like in 1816.

Diseñado en 1896 por el paisajista Carlos Thays. Su orbe vegetal de 350 hectáreas fue
creado en base a un criterio de calidad de vida, ya que la forestación del lado oeste
de la ciudad permite la justa humidificación del ambiente.
Designed in 1896 by the landscape architect Carlos Thays. This 350 hectare master-
piece was created to increase the quality of life, as the forestation of the western
side of the city encourages a more humid environment.
Los Portones (21) +++

Encargados en los primeros años del siglo XX por el Sultán Rojo de
Turquía a una fundición escocesa. Tras su derrocamiento, los ma-
jestuosos portones quedaron sin dueño y fueron comprados, en
1907, por el Gobierno de Mendoza para enmarcar el acceso al Par-
que San Martín. (Av. Emilio Civit y B. Sur Mer).
The Gateway (21) Managed by the Red Sultan of Turkey in the early XX century, the gate is set in
a Scottish cast iron foundation. After being torn down, the majestic gateway re-mained undamaged
and was bought, in 1907, by the Government of Mendoza. (Ave. Emilio Civit and B. Sur Mer).

¿Estamos en la Plaza de La Concordia de París? No, aunque es-
tos monumentos de mármol de Carrara son réplica de aque-
12 llos del tradicional paseo francés. Y hasta llevan la firma de los
mismos creadores.
Marley’s horses (22) Are we in Paris’ Concordia Plaza? No, however these marble monu-
ments are an exact replica of the Parisian tour. It even has the signature of the same creators.
El Rosedal (23) ++
(1919) Cerca de 500 especies de rosales y pérgolas, enmarcan
uno de los paseos más frecuentados del parque.
The Rosedal (23) (1919) Almost 500 species of roses are strung
up and hanging off columns, the roses mark the most popular paths in the park.
Fuente de los Continentes (24) ++

Inspirada en el conjunto escultórico “Los Cuatro Continentes”
que adorna los Jardines de Luxemburgo y representa América,
Asia, Europa y África. Se le atribuye a la escultora Lola Mora.
Fountain of Continents (24) Inspired by the French sculpture
by Jean B. Carpeaux, (“The Four Continents”) that adorns the Gar-
dens of Luxemburg. It represent America, Asia, Europe and Africa.
Museo Ciencias Naturales (25) +

Ocupa el edificio del antiguo balneario “Playas Serranas”, reciente-
mente refaccionado. Se exhiben más de 40 mil ejemplares, en sus sec-
ciones de Paleontología, Etnología, Arqueología, etc.
Natural Science Museum (25) Museum is located in the building
that once belonged to “Playas Serranas” resort. More than 40 thousand
specimens are shown in its Paleontology, Ethnology, Archeology.

Cerro de la Gloria +++
Aqui se encuentra el monumento en homenaje al General San
Martín y al Ejército de Los Andes, obra del escultor uruguayo
Juan M. Ferrari (1914). La explanada del cerro es, además, una
espléndida platea para observar una panorámica de la ciudad.
Glory Hill This is where The Andes Army Monument is located.
It was made by Uruguayan sculptor Juan M. Ferrari and opened
to the public in 1914. The base of the monument is made of
stones representing a steep slope. It was made to pay homage to
General San Martin and his army when they crossed The Andes.
The area around the hill offers an impressive view of the whole
city.
Teatro Griego Frank Romero Day

Creado en 1940 por el arquitecto Daniel Ramos Correa. Se erige en-
tre los cerros y es allí donde se realiza la Fiesta de la Vendimia. Cuen-
ta con capacidad para 22.500 espectadores sentados.
Frank Romero Day Greek Theater It was built in 1940. It stands

Godoy Cruz surgió como Villa de San Vicente en torno a la capilla del mismo
nombre, hoy su iglesia principal. Luego se denominó Belgrano, en homenaje
al creador de la bandera y finalmente adquiere su nombre actual, Godoy Cruz,
en homenaje al representante mendocino en el Congreso de Tucumán.

Se encuentra ubicado en el centro del Gran Mendoza, a 4 Km de la
ciudad capital de Mendoza, Godoy Cruz se presenta como destino
para disfrutar y como un excelente punto de partida para conocer
toda la provincia. Se accede ya sea, por el corredor del oeste o por
la prolongación de la Av. San Martín, o por el Acceso Norte-Av. Cos-
tanera, o por el Acceso Sur–Ruta Provincial Nº 40, a la altura del carril Rodríguez Peña.

En el calendario Cultural-Turístico godoycruceño sobresalen eventos y fiestas populares de gran con-
vocatoria como: Cabalgata de los Reyes Magos, Carnavales en la Plaza, la Fiesta de la Vendimia Go-
doycruceña, San Vicente Jazz, Festival de Cine Mirada Oeste, San
Vi-cente Tango y en diciembre el importante evento gastronómico de
la Fiesta Provincial de la Cerveza, con sus típicas manifestaciones culi-
narias y artístico culturales.
El departamento también trasciende en el deporte. Se destaca el ya
afamado Club de fútbol Godoy Cruz Antonio Tomba entre otras im-
portantes entidades deportivas, como el Estadio Provincial de Hockey
Ciudad de Godoy Cruz, y el Hipódromo -muy ligado al Jockey Club-

Godoy Cruz emerged as Villa de San Vicente around its namesake chapel, which today is the main
church. Afterwards, it was called Belgrano, in honor to the creator of the flag and finally, it re-
ceived its current name, Godoy Cruz, in homage to the representative of Mendoza in the Congress
of Tucumán.

It is located in the center of “Gran Mendoza”, 4 km away from the
capital city of Mendoza. Godoy Cruz gives possibility to enjoy a
wide and varied range of shows, entertainment and relaxation,
cuisine and walking options, we can highlight attractive malls with

patrimony interest spots such as El Calvario, a religious meeting
place during Holy Week, the former Arizu winery -declared natio-
nal heritage- Escorihuela winery, which is open to tourism. In the
lovely historic center, full of intense commercial and financial ac-
tivities, surrounding Godoy Cruz Square, you can find the beautiful
16 facades of the police building Comisaría Séptima (police office),
San Vicente Ferrer parish, the municipal headquarters and the De-
liberative Council. The “Cine Teatro Plaza” (theater), historic stores
and antique residences give life to the most vibrant civic core of the province, where you can
find a wide variety of artistic shows during the weekend. Near the urban center, at Antonio
Tomba street 54, the Library + Media Center Manuel Belgrano is located. This place is worth a
visit since it holds a big part of the cultural and historical reserves
of the department. On San Martin Sur Avenue, we can find Pal-
mares Open Mall, a mall with unique style which is the biggest of
the province. Another spot to highlight is the Cristóforo Colombo
Artistic Heritage Center, a restored and revalued building, located
at Tomba street 246, in the so-called “Antique Quarter” area of
the county.
In the cultural and touristic calendar of Godoy Cruz there are outs-
tanding popular and concurred events and parties, such as: The Horseback-riding of the Magic
Kings, Carnivals in the square, Godoy Cruz Vendimia (harvest) celebration, San Vicente Jazz,
Mirada Oeste Cinema Festival, San Vicente Tango and in Decem-
ber, the important gastronomic event of Provincial Beer Party with

Guaymallén, el departamento más poblado de la Provincia de
Mendoza, conjuga tanto los fenómenos rurales como los urba-
nos. Su ubicación privilegiada, dentro del núcleo urbano, ha po-
sibilitado el desarrollo de industrias de las más diversas
especialidades; así también como actividades ligadas a la cons-
trucción, el transporte, la agroindustria, la vitivinicultura y la
metalmecánica entre otras. Es sede de más de 15 establecimien-
tos elaboradores de espumante, con una producción de 10 mi-
llones de botellas al año. Representa el 30% de la floricultura
provincial, siendo las principales especies: claveles, montoneras,
crisantemos y astromelias.
El camote (batata), producto ícono departamental, ha sido cer-
tificado como uno de los de mejor calidad en Argentina y el
mundo, destacándose por su consistencia, sabor y cremosidad.
Cuenta con alrededor de 800 hectáreas de olivos cultivadas, produciendo 3.240.000 kg de
aceitunas y 450.000 litros de aceite de oliva anuales.

Es un atractivo espacio verde donde se pueden observar dos
grandes esculturas: El “Monumento al Cóndor” (1958) símbolo
de la provincia, y la escultura de la Virgen María, de gran rele-
vancia en la visita del Papa Juan Pablo II, en 1987. Aquí también
se ubica el Informador Turístico de Guaymallén.
East Access Park. It is an attractive green space where you can see two large sculptures:
The "Monument to the Condor" (1958) symbol of the province, and the sculpture of the Vir-
gin Mary, of great relevance in the visit of Pope John Paul II, in 1987. The Guaymallén Tourist

Para llegar a Lavalle solo hay que recorrer 35 kilómetros desde la ciu-
dad de Mendoza. Lavalle se presenta auténtica, sin lujos, conjugando
naturaleza y cultura entrelazadas por las hebras de la identidad huar-
pes, habitantes originarios de esta zona, que marcó a fuego el norte
mendocino. Este destino emerge en un paisaje donde siempre el de-
sierto es el principal protagonista. Las propuestas que Lavalle ofrece
se relacionan principalmente con el turismo rural y cultural: en fincas, bodegas y agroindustrias se po-
drán degustar comidas típicas, visitas guiadas, elaboración de vino casero en bodeguitas artesanales.
También se puede asistir a degustaciones asistidas de aceites de oliva, mieles, dulces y conservas; cono-
cer métodos tradicionales de cultivos y crianza de animales; participar en tareas agrícola y artesanales
usando técnicas ancestrales, participando, por ejemplo, en talleres de tejido al telar o trenzado en
cuero o talleres vivenciales de danzas folclóricas, mientras se toman mates con meriendas campestres
y sabores regionales. Otras dos especialidades propias de la zona son

tarse en Lavalle, es su gastronomía a base de chivitos, cuya peculiari-
dad es que usan chivos de destete que no llegan a comer pasto porque

doza city. Lavalle is authentic, without luxuries but mixing nature and culture entangled by the threads

is a landscape where the desert is the protagonist. The options Lavalle offers are mainly related to
rural and cultural tourism: in estates, wineries and agro-industries you may taste typical dishes, guided
tours, homemade wine production in small artisan wineries. You can also experience assisted olive oil,
honey, jams and canned products tastings; discover traditional harvesting and animal husbandry meth-
ods; participate in agricultural and craft tasks using ancient techniques and participating, for example,
in loom woven, leather braiding or folk dances workshops while drinking mate with a countryside
picnic and regional flavors. Other two specialties of the area are melon and watermelon, which have
their own party, a celebration full of music and folk dances. Another glory Lavalle can brag about is
its cuisine based on goat meat, whose main characteristic is that the goats are weaned, so they do not
eat grass because it is considered that grass gives a bad taste to meat.
Turismo Religioso +++

En Lavalle los festejos patronales son muy importantes para las dis-
tintas comunidades. En agosto se celebra la fiesta en honor a la Vír-
gen de la Asunción, que es la virgen del tránsito. En octubre la fiesta
se traslada al paraje El Cavadito: una celebración religiosa en honor
a San Judas Tadeo, de larga tradición entre los devotos lugareños.
También en octubre hay fiesta en las Lagunas del Rosario, donde se
han logrado congregar hasta 60 mil personas, por la Vírgen del
Rosario. Alrededor de la capilla se montan los tradicionales “bodegones” donde, durante 3 días,
canto, danza, comidas típicas y buen vino mendocino amenizarán las noches. Esta capilla, construida
a mediado del siglo XVII para la evangelización de los nativos y restaurada luego del sismo de 1861,
fue declarada Monumento Histórico Nacional en 1975, junto al cementerio y al caserío lindante. Es
una construcción sencilla de adobe, con una única nave y techo de carrizo con torta de barro y paja.
En las inmediaciones también se puede visitar el Museo de las Lagunas del Rosario, inaugurado en
1999, donde destaca la réplica de una canoa huarpe hecha con juncos.

Religious Tourism +++
In Lavalle, local holidays are very important for its communities.
In August, we have the holiday in honor to the Virgen de la
Asunción, the virgin of transit.
In October, the party moves to El Cavadito: A religious celebra-
tion in honor to San Judas Tadeo, a long tradition among de-
voted local people.
In October, there is also a party in Lagunas del Rosario, where
up to 60 thousand people have joined in honor to Rosario Vir-
gin. Surrounding the chapel, the traditional “bodegones” are
held, where during three days, you may enjoy singing, dancing,
typical dishes and good Mendocinian wine each night.
This chapel, which was built in mid 17th century for the evan-
gelization of the natives and restored after the earthquake in
1861, was declared National Historical Monument in 1975, to-
gether with the cemetery and country house next to it.
It is a simple brick construction, with a unique bay and reed roof
with mud and straw. In the surrounding areas you can also visit
the Museum of Lagunas del Rosario, inaugurated in 1999,
where we highlight a replica of a huarpe launch made of reed.

Algunos de los sitios más sorprendentes de Lavalle han sido pro-

tegidos para su preservación, entre ellos se encuentra la
Reserva Faunística y Florística Telteca con su campo de méda-
nos llamados “Altos Limpios” y el Bosque Telteca, con algarro-
bos centenarios que pueden alcanzar los 15 m de altura; el
complejo Lacunar Huanacache y los Bañados del Tulumaya.
Lavalle invita a realizar cabalgatas, caminatas y bicicleadas que
pueden realizarse en los paisajes agrestes del secano o bien en
las fincas cultivadas del oasis norte.
La ciudad cabecera de Lavalle es la Villa Tulumaya (1903). En
ella podemos visitar el Museo Histórico y Natural y el Alga-
rrobo Histórico, un ejemplar de 338 años, testigo mudo de la
historia del lugar.

Lavalle have been protected for their preservation, among
them we can find the Telteca Flora and Fauna Reserve with its
sand dunes field called “Altos Limpios” and Telteca Forrest,
with centennial carob trees which may get up to 15 m height;
the Lacunar Huanacache Complex and Bañados del Tulumaya.
Lavalle invites you to do some horseback riding, walks and bike
tours which may be carried out in the countryside landscapes
of the sandbanks or in the harvested estates in the north oasis.
The top city of Lavalle is Villa Tulumaya (1903). There, we can
visit the Historic and Natural Museum and the Historic Carob
Tree, a 338 year old example, a silent witness of the history of
this place.

Luego de casi dos décadas, Cacheuta y Potrerillos volvieron a
unirse por un túnel, dando forma a un circuito turístico inte-
gral. Hoy la Ruta Provincial 82 ha logrado potenciar todos sus
encantos naturales combinando increíbles paisajes con una vari-
ada oferta de servicios turísticos: cabañas con piscinas, hidro-
masajes al aire libre y campings enmarcados por montañas y rio, una sucesión de
restaurantes y salones de té, fábricas de licores, bebidas blancas, dulces, mostazas y cerveza
artesanal rubia. En la Ruta 82 también encontramos Luján Playa-Bajada al Río Mendoza, un
equipado balneario para poder disfrutar del río en los cálidos días de verano. Otras dulces

turismo aventura ha encontrado un lugar privilegiado para ofrecer servicios de rafting en
24 sus versiones de día o bajadas de luna llena. La adre-nalina au-
menta soltándonos a experimentar vivencias únicas e ir-
repetibles a través del puenting y bungee. Actividades pa-ra
toda la familia ofrecen senderos de trekking, mountain bike y
cabalgatas. Hitos naturales, históricos, culturales y turísticos
como el Puente Colgante de Cacheuta y las aguas terma-les re-
conocidas internacionalmente, son algunos de los atractivos
que pueden sorprender al turista en este recorrido.
A partir del 2016 se realiza en esta ruta la Fiesta del chocolate que permite deleitarse con
creaciones de chocolate con infinitas variantes de sabores y presentación.
Route 82: foothill tours After almost two decades, Cacheuta and Potrerillos will join
the route again to create an all-embracing touristic circuit thanks to a tunnel. Nowadays,
Provincial Route 82 has promoted the development of its natural charm by combining its
marvelous sceneries with a varied supply of touristic services: cabins with pools, outdoor
hydro massage and campsites along the mountain and river, a number of restaurants and
tea houses, liquor and drink factories. Along with the chocolate factory and the incredible
opportunity to try the “Entre Dos” caramel cookies, awarded world-wide. Adventure
tourism has found a privileged spot to offer rafting services in the day, full moon trips, and
more. The adrenaline spikes releasing us to live unique experiences through bungee jump-
ing and “puenting”. Family friendly activities can be found in trekking, mountain bike, and
horseback trails. Natural, historical, cultural and touristic landmarks like the Suspension
Bridge of Cacheuta and, of course, the spring waters, internationally renowned for their
quality, these are some of the main attractions that will surprise you along this journey. As
of 2016 the road hosts the “Fiesta del Chocolate” (Chocolate Festival) that invites to enjoy

Cacheuta Luján de Cuyo +++
Costeando el Río Mendoza, a 38 Km. de la ciudad, se llega a
Cacheuta, el paraje más famoso, rodeado de montañas. La zo-
na fue habitada por tribus huarpes y ya en 1598 sus termas
fueron aprovechadas, con fines curativos, por los incas.
Cacheuta es un pueblo de montaña con identidad joven, con
pequeñas callecitas que albergan bares, restaurantes y boliches nocturnos, recostados sobre
la vieja estación de tren, y manteniendo con ella una imbricada relación donde durmientes

Cacheuta In the border of the Mendoza river, at 38km from the city, there appears
Cacheuta, a really famous place of matchless beauty surrounded by mountains. This area
was inhabited by Huarpe tribes and in 1598 the spring waters were used with healing pur-
poses by the Inca tribes. Cacheuta is a mountain town with young identity, small streets with
bars, restaurants and nightclubs, over the old train station, where the sleepers and the rails

Puente Colgante Luján de Cuyo +++

El Puente Colgante peatonal, de 140 m de longitud, que es
parte de la identidad de Cacheuta, conecta las construcciones
del pueblo que están divididas a ambos lados del río Mendoza.
En las cercanías se realizan varias actividades de turismo aven- 25
tura, pero el puenting es la estrella del lugar. Se podrá vivir la
adrenalina de saltar al vacío y, tras una caída de 20 metros, una
cuerda permitirá columpiarse como un péndulo.
The Hanging Bridge It is part of the identity of Cacheuta.
The pedestrian suspension bridge has 140m long and connects
the constructions of the town that are divided to both sides of
Mendoza River. Here, you can carry out several adventure
tourism activities, but bungee jumping is the main attraction of

void and after a 20m fall, a rope will make you swing as a pen-

Es una vegetada quebrada de 70 mil has. declarada Reserva
Natural en el 2001. Es conocida principalmente por su agua
mineral y el antiguo hotel de estilo normando que ilustra su
etiqueta. Este fue construido en 1940, y aunque no está en ac-
tividad, sus hermosos parques y capilla son un paseo inolvida-
ble en cualquier época del año.
Villavicencio It is a vegetated 70 thousand-hectare ravine. It
is very well-known due to its modern mineral water plant and
its Norman-style hotel. This hotel was built in 1940, and although it is not open to the public,
its beautiful parks and chapel are unforgettable images in any time of the year.

Valle de Potrerillos Luján de Cuyo +++

Potrerillos: Además de su monumental dique, es lugar ideal para
las actividades de aventura. Cuenta con una riquísima periferia:
El Salto: ofrece bellas vistas panorámicas del valle. El arroyo El
Salto y la cercanía del Río Blanco ofrecen un entorno ideal para
la escalada en roca. Las Vegas: Pequeña villa turística desde don-
de se accede al circuito Cordón del Plata, con los picos de nieves
eternas casi al alcance de las manos. Valle del Sol: Es un barrio
semi-privado ideal para una buena caminata. El Dique de Potreril-
los se encuentra a 69 kilómetros de la ciudad de Mendoza y
posee 14 km de largo y casi 3 de ancho máximo.
Potrerillos Valley. Potrerillos: in addition to its monumental
dam, It is an ideal place for adventure sports. It surrounding

Enclavado en el Cordón del Plata, entre hermosas alamedas sur-
cadas por el río Mendoza y arroyos, brinda el marco ideal para
el turismo aventura. Uno de sus atractivo son las Bóvedas, cons-
trucciones de adobe, con techo en forma de cúpula. Una ver-
sión las identifica con la fundición de minerales por parte de
sacerdotes jesuitas en 1608 y con la fabricación de armas del
Ejército Libertador. Otros hitos son el Cerro Siete Colores, los
petroglifos del Cerro Tunduqueral y partes del Camino del In-
ca: ruinas de Tambillitos. Como dato anecdótico aquí se filmó
la película Siete Años en el Tibet, con Brad Pitt.
Uspallata Valley: In the heart of Cordón del Plata, offers
ideal opportunities for adventure tourism. This valley is char-
acterized by beautiful poplars, irrigated by Mendoza river. Its
main tourist highlights are “the Vaults”. These vaults were built
of adobe with dome shaped roofs which may have been used
as military fort. A more general version of the events links them
to mineral melting by Jesuit priests in 1608 and to the Army’s
weapons manufacturing. Anothers items are: Mt. Siete Colores,
Mt Tunduqueral petroglyphes and parts of Inca’s Roads: Tam-
billitos ruins. As an anecdotal data here was filmed the movie
Seven Years in Tibet, with Brad Pitt.

Sirvió de tránsito a las huestes libertadoras. Cruza el río del mismo
nombre, y se accede a él descendiendo unos 3 kms. aprox., de la
ruta internacional a Chile. (referencia a 5 kms. de Uspallata).

to cross the namesake river. Access to the bridge is about 3 km.

Villa Los Penitentes Las Heras +++

Importante centro de esqui a 35 km de la frontera con Chile.
Ofrece todas las comodidades en cuanto a hospedaje, gastro-
nomía y espar-cimiento. En verano también ofrece la posibil-
idad de subirse a un teleférico que brinda hermosa
panóramicas de la imponente cordillera y se realizan variadas
actividades de turismo aventura.
Villa Los Penitentes. This important ski resort is situated
35 km from the border with Chile. It offers all the necessary
comfort as regards lodgings and restaurant. In winter, there
is a ski school, a ski shop and lifts. In summer it also offers the
possibility of getting on a cable car that offers beautiful panoramas of the impressive
mountain range and various adventure tourism activities are carried out.

lives trying to reach the highest summit in South America rest. A
small white cross stands in the middle of this spot, located in the
Southern side of the road.

A 2.720 msnm el río Las Cuevas ha horadado la montaña for-
mando un puente natural a cuya vera afloran aguas termales.
Los sedimentos termominerales de color ferruginoso lo convier-
ten en un paisaje irreal. Se pueden observar los restos del an-
tiguo Hotel Puente del Inca (1925), destruido en 1965 por un
alud.
Bridge of Inca 2,720 m high, Las Cuevas river has bored
through the rock, creating a natural bridge where hot water
springs are to be found. Iron-colored thermo-mineral sedi-
ments turn it into an almost fantasy place.

Es la última población argentina. Son características sus edifi-
caciones de estilo nórdico y su arco, antiguo acceso a la pro-
vincia de Mendoza.
Las Cuevas. It is the last Argentinean village before the Chi-
lean borderline. Its Nordic-style buildings and its entrance arch,
which used to signal the access to Mendoza, are its main cha-
racteristics.
Cristo Redentor Las Heras +++
Ubicado a 4.200 msnm, en el límite entre Argentina y Chile, se
considera el emblema de la paz entre ambos pueblos. La enor-
me escultura, de 7 m de alto, cumplió su centenario en el 2004.
Bajo sus pies quedó consignada la siguiente frase: “Se desplo-
marán primero estas montañas, antes que argentinos y chil-enos
rompan la paz juradas a los pies del Cristo Redentor”, pronun-
ciada por Monseñor Ramón Ángel Jara, Obispo de An-cud
(Chile), el día en que se inauguró el monumento.
Cristo Redentor It stands 4,200 high., in the borderline bet-
ween Argentina and Chi-le. It is considered a symbol of peace for Argentineans and Chi-
leans. This enormous 10 m. sculpture turned 100 years old in 2004.

Esta montaña, con sus 6.962 metros, posee la mayor altura de América.
El Parque ofrece 71 mil hectáreas donde se pueden practicar activida-
des como el minitrekking en el subyugante paisaje de la Laguna Hor-
cones (2.950 m), escenario ideal para safaris fotográficos. En el Parque
también pueden realizarse escaladas en hielo y es el punto de partida
para el ascenso al cerro Aconcagua. Habrá que recorrer un largo cami-
no para llegar a uno de los “campamentos base”. Ellos son Plaza Fran-
cia, Plaza de Mulas y Plaza Argentina.
Provincial Aconcagua Park The trail head is the Park. There it is possible to practice all sorts of
activities like family minitrekking or the ice waterfall, above different glaciers. Once you are allowed
to stay (permits and identification are a required to stay in the Park), you will have to take a long
road to get to one of the “Base Camps”. They are: Plaza Francia, Plaza de Mulas y Plaza Argentina.
Plaza Francia
Es el trayecto más corto: sólo 25 km desde Puente del Inca. Zona apta
para campamento, circundada por arroyos. Es un lugar sin vegetación
y los vientos, por lo general, no constituyen un problema.
Plaza Francia It is the shortest route: only 25 km from Puente del
Inca. There one can find various places apt for camping, eddies in little
streams. It is a place without vegetation and the wind, in general, 31
doesn’t create any problems.
Plaza de Mulas
A 35 km de Puente del Inca, es el sitio ideal para una buena aclimatación. Cuenta con un pequeño re-
fugio de madera, de 6 a 8 plazas, que si bien es poco apto para dormitorio, es bueno como cocina-co-
medor. También hay un hotel con habitaciones cuádruples y baño compartido y mixto.
Plaza de Mulas 35 km Puente del Inca, it is the idea place to acclimatize. There is a small woo-
den refuge, for 6 to 8 people. It is a little too small to sleep in, but it works well as a kitchen-di-
ningroom. Also the Hotel Refugio “Plaza de Mulas”, with rooms for four, bunk beds and a shared
co-ed bathroom.

Se llega recorriendo 62 km desde Punta de Vacas y poco más de 2.000
metros de desnivel. Si bien es apto para campamentos, presenta vien-
tos más fuertes que los parajes anteriores. Hay agua y leña en toda la
quebrada y la senda está bien marcada. El viaje es aconsejable reali-
zarlo en tres jornadas (a diferencia de Plaza de Mulas o Plaza Francia, que sólo requieren dos etapas).
Es utilizado para la ascensión del Glaciar de Los Polacos, que sólo está permitido a mayores de 21
años. Cuenta con un buen servicio médico y un puesto permanente de guardaparques.
Plaza Argentina. About 62 km from Punta de Vacas. Despite its aptness as a campsite, because
of its wide open landscape, it has stronger winds than the other spots. There is water and fire-
wood, and the cliff and path are well marked. It is recommended that the trip be done in three
parts (the exceptions being Plaza de Mulas or Plaza Francia, which only require two phases). It
is used for climbing the Polish Glacier route (Ascent to the Polish Glacier is only allowed to people
over 21.). It has good medical service and a permanent park ranger camp.

Museo Histórico Las Bóvedas +++
Ubicado dentro del casco histórico de la ciudad, en las tierras
que pertenecieron al General José de San Martín, es una réplica
de su casa. En la visita guiada se pueden observar muebles y el-
ementos propios del General. En 2016 se encendió una an-tor-
cha tomando el fuego que mantiene vivo el espíritu de San
Martín en la Catedral de Buenos Aires, se trasladó custodiada
por los granaderos hasta nuestra ciudad y se mantiene encen-
dida aquí donde Don José quiso descansar eternamente.
Las Bóvedas Historic Museum. Located in the historic
quarters of the city, in the land that used to belong to the Gen-
eral José de San Martín, it is a replica of his house. In the guided
tour, you can see furniture and elements owned by the General.
In 2016 a torch was lit with the fire that keeps the spirit of San
Martín alive in the Cathedral of Buenos Aires. It was transferred
in custody of the “granaderos” to our city and it has been lit
here where Don José decided to rest eternally.

34 Pertenece a un complejo arquitectónico moderno que reúne
el Centro de Congresos y Exposiciones Francisco y el Templo
del Vino. Este es un auditorio circular que imita una cuba de
vino con capacidad para 200 personas. Posee una acústica
única en la provincia. En él se realizan conciertos, conferencias
y degustaciones. Posee una cava con más de 200 etiquetas de
vinos de San Martín.
Temple of Argentinian Bonarda. It belongs to a modern
architectonic complex which gathers the Francisco Expositions
and Congresses Center and the Wine Temple. It is a circular
auditorium which imitates a wine vat and has capacity for 200
people. It has a unique acoustic in the province. There, con-
certs, conferences and tastings are carried out. It has a cellar
with more than 200 wine labels from San Martín.

La Provincia
La primera Constitución de Mendoza, promulgada el 18 de enero de 1859, oficializó el nacimiento

del departamento de Junín, ubicado en la zona Este de Mendoza y denominado popularmente
como el “Jardín de la Provincia”. Más de 270 km2 se encuentran repartidos entre diez distritos
que tienen diversas actividades agriculturas y vitivinícolas, aprovechando las llanuras de la Tra-
vesía –cuenca de recepción formada por depósitos fluviales- y el relieve de dunas y peladares.
The first Constitution of Mendoza, enacted on January 18th, 1859, made the birth of Junín official.
It is located in the East area of Mendoza and it is commonly called “the Garden of the Province”.
There are more than 270 km2 scattered among ten districts with diverse agricultural and vinicul-
tural activities, making good use of the “Llanuras de la Travesía” (plains) -river basins made up of
fluvial deposits- the dunes reliefs and arid plains.

El parador turístico de Los Barriales es el centro de información
que tiene el departamento, ubicado a metros de la Roton-da
del Agua y del Trabajo. Desde ese lugar parten los principales

Tourism. The touristic center in Los Barriales is the information center of the department,
located a few meters from the the “Rotonda del Agua y el Trabajo” (roundabout). This is
the starting point for the main touristic attractions of Junín. The sulky rides are a promising
offer for an innovative tour through the rural streets of the county; the hot air balloon rides
have become a strong attraction for domestic and international tourist, you can admire the
sunrise and sunset with the mountain range as background and the vineyards in your feet.

Algarrobo Histórico ++
El espacio Algarrobo Histórico se consolidó como sitio de visita
obligada, ya que cuenta con un ejemplar de 170 años de edad
y 13 metros de altura, ubicado en Algarrobo Grande y convir-
tiéndose en un fiel reflejo de la flora local. Por su parte, el Par-
que Recreativo Dueño del Sol es uno de los grandes espacios verdes de la provincia, que

the recreational park Dueño del Sol is one of the big green areas of the province, it attracts
very concurred local and national events and it gives place to many social entertaining acti-
vities. The bike paths of Junín are worth mentioning, they have more than 100 km of roads
connecting all the districts, from the furthest areas to the center.
Molino de Orfila +++

Estando el General José de San Martín en posesión de la cha-
cra que había recibido en donación por el gobierno de Cuyo,
situada en la antigua Villa de Los Barriales, se interesó en
hacer construir un molino harinero para abastecer de pan a
40 esa población, adquiriéndose en 1818 un terreno situado a la
orilla de la llamada Acequia de la Patria (hoy Canal Matriz San
Martín). La vieja construcción, que aún se conserva parcial-
mente, incluyendo algunos elementos utilizados en la mo-
lienda, se sitúa en la denominada Villa Orfila, de la propiedad
rural del mismo nombre.
Orfila Mill. When General Jose de San Martín possessed the
farm which he had received as a donation by the government
of Cuyo, located in the old village of Los Barriales, he got in-
terested in building a flour mill to cater the population of the
area with bread. So, in 1818, he acquired a plot of land located
in the coast of the so-called Acequia de la Patria (what today
is Channel Matrix San Martín). The old construction, which has
been partially kept up to the present, including some elements
used in the grinding, is located in the so-called Orfila Village,
part of the namesake rural property.

chas, motos de agua y jet sky; práctica de sky náutico, parasail

El Carrizal Dam. The Touristic Village San Isidro, El Carrizal, is 30 minutes away from the

Santa Rosa posee una riqueza histórica y cultural muy impor-
tante. En este sentido se puede destacar el Monumento Ba-talla
de las Trincheras que conmemora la famosa “Batalla de Santa
Rosa”, dos batallas ocurridas en el mismo sitio, justamente
Santa Rosa, el 29 de octubre y del 7 de diciembre de 1874, du-
rante la guerra civil entre las fuerzas del gobierno argentino y
las revolucionarias dirigidas por José Miguel Arre-dondo. Tam-
bién el Monumento homenaje a Leonardo Favio que supo con-
quistar el país y el mundo a través de su música y luego de su
cine de culto. Otro atractivo que merece una visita es el Museo
de arte Matt Lamb en la Bodega Fantelli, que exhibe una im-
portante colección del artista suizo de jerarquía internacional. La apertura estuvo enmarcada
dentro de la muestra que se denominó “Paraguas por la Paz”.

El Valle de Uco está integrado por los departamentos de Tupungato, Tunuyán y San Carlos.

Tupungato +++
Un extensivo territorio de planicies, quebradas y altas mon-
tañas, conjuntamente con un microclima insuperable, de tar-
des candentes y noches frescas, forjan las mejores condiciones
para excelentes vinos. Tupungato “Capital de los Vinos de Al-
tura”, designio alcanzado por la cantidad y calidad de los va-ri-
etales cultivados entre los 900 y 1400 m. Sus plantaciones de
viñedos confieren un marco privilegiado no sólo para realizar
los circuitos del vino, si no también para planificar una estadía
relajante, en medio de la montaña y en pleno contacto con el
aire puro.
Hay incontables caminos pintorescos en Tupungato, que invi-
tan a ser recorridos en auto, caminando o en bicicleta. Entre
ellos se encuentran: Camino de Los Cerrillos (ingreso por ruta
48 provincial 86), el Mirador a los pies del monumento del Cristo
Rey, Camino de la Carrera (ingreso por ruta provincial 89); o los
caminos muy cercanos a la ciudad que permiten in-gresar a
diferentes distritos con arboledas que van cambiando de co-
lor durante el año, y que en verano regalan aromas de las fru-
tas de estación. Se puede recorrer el denominado “Corredor
productivo” rodeado de cultivos de papas, nogales, almendros, castaños y viñedos que cre-
cen en el extenso valle al pié del Volcán Tupungato (el volcán más alto de todo el ma-cizo
andino con sus 6.820 m). Siguiendo el camino se puede visitar la Bodega Salentein, única
en su tipo, por su construcción en cruz. Esta es la puerta de acceso a la ruta que bordea el
Cordón del Plata, por el Valle de Las Carreras, hasta la localidad de Las Vegas. Este circuito
se desarrolla entre valles y vegas de gran belleza paisajística.
La ciudad de este Departamento también alberga diferentes posibilidades de conocer a
hacedores y degustar vinos familiares y boutique, dulces artesanales y también frutos se-
cos entre los cuales se destaca por supuesto la nuez.
El agroturismo está asociado a disfrutar el estilo de vida campestre; además de cabalgatas
o caminatas, la actividad se centra en el disfrute de un almuerzo criollo con un buen vino,
o un picnic en una verde pradera. Algunos son más rústicos, otros más modernos pero siem-
pre muy confortables.
Tupungato, además, ofrece el marco ideal para el trekking y
las cabalgatas. Múltiples senderos montañosos invitan a re-cor-
ridos a pie o a caballo, descubriendo lugares de sorprendente
belleza como caídas de agua entre grandes formacio-nes ro-
cosas o puntos panorámicos para contemplar la imponente
Cordillera de Los Andes y El Plata. Paisajes ideales para interi-
orizarse sobre la flora y la fauna del lugar, destacando el avis-
taje de guanacos o el majestuoso cóndor andino.

An extensive territory of plains, ravines and high mountains,
together with an unsurpassed microclimate, hot afternoons
and cool nights, forge the best conditions for excellent wines.
Tupungato "Capital of High-altitude Wines", a design achieved
by the quantity and quality of the varietals grown between 900

Tunuyán +++
El relieve y la pluralidad de paisajes son los atractivos que car-
acterizan a este departamento. El río Tunuyán convierte a la
región en el ambiente ideal para el ecoturismo y el agroturis-
mo, debido a sus grandes plantaciones, principalmente de
manzanas. Por eso Tunuyán, además de sus múltiples y
afamadas bodegas también se destaca en la fabricación de si-
dra. En febrero se realiza aqui el Festival Nacional de la Tona-
da que es el festival folclórico más importante de la provincia
(canto, baile y exhibiciones de destreza criolla). El Cruce de la
montaña a caballo tiene aqui a su punto de partida. En el Man-
zano Histórlco, a 43 Km de la ciudad cabecera, se puede visitar
una estación piscícola de cría de truchas y el Monumen-to Re-
torno a la Patria, dedicado al Greneral San Martín entornado
por la magnificencia que le dá el marco de las altas cumbres
que lo rodean.
Tunuyan. The soil relieves and the abundance of attractive sceneries that characterize this
district offer a myriad of alternatives to the tourists that choose this destination. Tunuyán
river makes the region the ideal place for environment and tourism due to its large planta-
tions of apple trees. That's why Tunuyán, in addition to its many well-known wineries, also
stands out in the manufacture of cider. For four night in February, the “Festival Nacional de
la Tonada” is celebrated there. It is the most important folkloric festival of the province. There
is singing, dancing and exhibitions of Creole skills. Crossing the Mountain on Horse-back
starts here. In the Historic “Apple Tree” 43 kms from Tunuyán City you can visit fish-growing 51
banks of truchas and the Return to the Homeland Monument by which the younger genera-
tion intends to perpetuate the return of General San Martin to our country.

Es la sede de la Fiesta de la Tradición y el paraíso de la pesca de-
portiva. Pueden observarse restos del histórico fuerte San Carlos
(Monumento Històrico Nacional), construido en 1770 como de-
fensa contra las invasiones indígenas. Aquí, el Gral. San Martín,
pidió a los aborígenes pehuenches autorización para cruzar sus
tierras y atacar a los realistas, por los pasos de El Portillo y El Plan-
chón. A 100 Km. de su ciudad cabecera se encuentra la Laguna
del Diamante, un espejo de aguas cristalinas de alta montaña ro-
deado de extensos campos de escorias volcánicas que le dan un imponente marco, constitu-
yendo un paisaje de gran belleza. Fue declarada reserva en 1994 para proteger un importante
sector de la Cordillera Principal, que comprende al Volcán Maipo de 5323 m.
San Carlos. It hosts the Fiesta de la Tradición and it is a fishing paradise. The historical re-
mains of the San Carlos fort (National Historic Monument,) which was built in 1770 as a de-
fense against indigenous invasions can be viseted. In that region, General San Martín asked
the pehuenche Indians for authorization to cross their land and attack the royalist through El
Portillo and El Planchón. The Laguna del Diamante is located 100 km far from the city. It is a
mirror of crystalline water from the high mountains, surrounded by large fields and volcanic
slag which give an imposing setting and compose an spectacularly beautiful view. It was de-
clared natural reserve in 1994 to protect an important area of the Cordillera Principal which
contains the 5,323 m Volcán Maipo.

San Rafael +++
San Rafael, caracterizada por sus anchas avenidas y frondosas
arboledas, es la segunda ciudad de Mendoza – y posee, entre
otras cosas, un muy completo casino, aeropuerto y una mod-
erna terminal de ómnibus. A 7 Km del centro de la ciudad, en
la isla del Diamante, formada por dos brazos del río, encontra-
mos el Parque Mariano Moreno que constituye un atractivo
adicional con su pequeño lago y el Museo Nacional de Historia
Natural.
San Rafael. Characterized by its wide avenues and leafy
trees, San Rafael is Mendoza s second biggest city. Among
other things, San Rafael has a full casino, airport and bus terminal. About 7 kms from the
center of the city, is the Island of Diamante. Here one can find Park Mariano Moreno with
its beautiful small lake. There is also a National Museum of Natural History.
Cañón del Atuel +++

El río Atuel, con su milenario fluir, ha horadado las paredes
rocosas de su cauce, generando, junto con la erosión eólica,
formaciones de piedra sólo comparables a las del Gran Cañón
52 del Colorado. Se suceden murallones veteados y formas exó-
ticas que hoy poseen cada una su nombre: El Mendigo, el
Bosque de Coníferas, los Jardines Colgantes, El Elefante, El Sil-
lón de Rivadavia, Los Monstruos, El Lagarto, el Castillo, el Mu-
seo de Cera y muchas más. El Cañón tiene una extensión de
unos 50 km y una profundidad promedio de 260 m. Por el ser-
penteante camino se despliegan las centrales hidroeléctricas
de los Nihuiles hasta alcanzar el dique El Nihuil, paraíso de
pescadores.
Atuel Canyon. An impressive sight. Here the Atuel river
has cornered a rock formation only comparable to the Grand
Canyon of Colorado. You can see figures and exotic forms
(castles and ghosts) and streaked walls. A windy walking trail
displays the main hydroelectric complexes of the Nihuiles until
one reaches the dique of Nihuiles, a fhisherman s paradise.

Dique Los Reyunos +++

Sus aguas reposan en medio de un cerco montañoso, ofrecien-
do las mejores condiciones para los deportes náuticos y el des-
canso. Junto con la Presa El Tigre y el Dique Galileo Vitale
(distribuidor de aguas), constituye un circuito turístico imper-
dible. A 11 Km de la presa se llega a el Club Náutico Los Reyu-
nos, rodeado de blancas casas de fin de semana que están
escalonadas en las laderas de la montaña y llegan hasta orillas
del lago.
Dique Los Reyunos. Its waters support a hydroelectric com-
plex, standing on the middle of mountain. This town offers the
best conditions for water sports and relaxation. Combined with
the Presa El Tigre and the dique Galileo Vitale (water distribu-
tors) this is a tourist circuit that shouldn’t be missed.

General Alvear is in the South East of Mendoza, 290 km away from the capital city and 88
km away from San Rafael. As a touristic destination, it has obtained the “Safe Travels”

General Alvear viene creciendo tanto en gastronomía como
hospedajes rurales en fincas y estancias. El importante crisol
de razas que conforma esta región, como ucraniana, rusa, ja-
ponesa, italiana y española, ha favorecido una mezcla impor-
tante de sabores culturales y culinarios. También se pueden
disfrutar emprendimientos apícolas, que inclusive cuentan con
parques temáticos y visitas guiadas para conocer el proceso de elaboración y degus-tación
de la miel y derivados. También hay que destacar la primer olivícola del departamento que,
usando materia prima local, fabrica productos de alta calidad.
Rural Tourism and Gastronomy. General Alvear has grown in gastronomy as much as
54 in rural lodgings in estates and residencies. The important mixture of races that makes up
this region, such as Ukrainian, Russian, Japanese, Italian and Spanish has led to an important
mixture of cultural and gastronomic flavors. There are also bee-keeping entrepreneurships,

Patrimonio Histórico Cultural ++ +

La emblemática Bodega Faraón, patrimonio histórico cultural
de la provincia, ha sido transformado en Multiespacio Cultural
desde 2016. La Bodega Faraón nació en el año 1905 y funcionó
como tal hasta el 2012, teniendo las Cubas de Vinificación con-
tinua con patente mundial en el 1948; un mural del pintor Car-
los Alonso, una esfinge de Ramsés II realizada por Mariano
Pagés y una historia que vale la pena conocer.
Pero General Alvear además ofrece un fascinante recorrido por la historia, la ciencia y el
arte, con un interesante Circuito de Museos. En el casco de la antigua Estación de Ferro-
carril Bowen (1912) se encuentra el Museo del Inmigrante que puede visitarse para disfrutar
parte de la historia del departamento. Otros vestigios interesante de conocer son: la antigua
Estación Ferrocarril Oeste, uno de los ferrocarriles más antiguos del país, inaugurado en
1857; el Museo de Ciencias Naturales “Rafael Reinoso”; el Museo de Malvinas; el Museo de
las Reinas “Casa Cabral” y el Cine Teatro Antonio Lafalla.
Cultural Historical Heritage. The emblematic Faraón Win-
ery, cultural historical heritage of the province, has been trans-
formed into a Cultural Center since 2016. Faraón Winery was
born in the year 1905 and worked as such until 2012, it had
continuous vinification vats with an international patent in
1948; a mural by the painter Carlos Alonso, a sphinx of Ramses
II made by Mariano Pagés and a history worth knowing. But
also, General Alvear offers a fascinating tour through history,

science and art with an interesting museum circuit. In the quar-
ters of the old Bowen Rail Station (1912), you can find the Museum of the Immigrant, which
can be visited to enjoy part of the department’s history. Another interesting vestiges to dis-
cover are: the old West Rail Station, one of the oldest rails in the country, inaugurated in
1857; the Museum of Natural Science “Rafael Reinoso”: the Malvinas Museum; the Museum
of Queens “Casa Cabral” and the Cinema Theater Antonio Lafalla.

La Reserva Laguna El Trapal posee tres lagunas naturales
donde se puede realizar avistaje de aves, mountain bike,
trekking, kayak, entre otras actividades. Tiene un área de ser-
vicio con WiFi, churrasqueras y sanitarios. La Costanera
Alvear, a orillas del río Atuel y a sólo 7 km de la ciudad, es
un espacio de recreación y esparcimiento para refrescarse,
disfrutar de su costa y realizar actividades como tirolesa, kayak, trekking, MTB o cabal-
gatas, con el majestuoso Cerro Nevado como telón de fondo.

Reserve has three natural lagoons where you can do moun-
tain bike, bird sighting, trekking, kayaking, among other ac-
tivities. There is a service area with WiFi, grills and toilets. The
coast road Alvear, in the coast of Atuel river, only 7 km away
from the city, is a recreational and relaxing area to freshen
yourself and enjoy the coast and do activities such as zipline,
kayaking, trekking, MTB or horseback riding with the majes-
tic Nevado Hill as a background.

Es una gruta única en su tipo y tamaño en Sudamérica. Data de mi-
llones de años y presenta una extravagante arquitectura natural con
divisiones de varios niveles, galerías abovedadas y un desconcertan-
te juego de estalactitas y estalagmitas gigantes. Puede ser visitada
todo el año con guía. Su recorrido demanda casi dos horas.

South America. Dating back millions of years and exhibiting the lack of extravagant natural ar-

11 mil guanacos, choiques y piches, entre otras especies faunísticas.

El principal atractivo de este espejo de agua es la nidificación de más
de 150.000 aves de 73 especies diferentes, entre ellas flamencos, cis-
nes blancos y de cuello negro. Debido a la rica biodiversidad existen-
te en este humedal, es que fue declarado Sitio Ramsar en 1995.
Llancanello Lagoon The main attraction of this area is the nes-
tling of more than 150000 birds of 73 different species, including flamingos and white and black
swans. They coexist in a mirror of water of approximately 42.000 hectares. Due to the rich biodiver-
sity existing in this humid area, it was declared Sitio Ramsar in 1995.

Grape Harvest Festival
El origen de la vid en América está muy ligado a la labor espiritual ya que los evangeliza-
dores necesitaban del vino para celebrar la misa. como la importación de vino era dificulto-
sa, junto a cada capilla que levantaban, los conquistadores preparaban un parral y un huerto
que serviría para abastecer sus necesidades alimenticias. Los nobles parrales ayudaban tam-
bién a combatir los calores en las capillas solitarias. Las uvas no sólo servían para preparar
el vino sino que eran consumidas frescas y constituían un nutritivo alimento.
The cultivation of grapes in south america was strongly linked to religion, as the evangeliz-
ers needed wine to celebrate mass. since it was difficult to import wine, the conquerors es-
tablished vineyards and vegetable gardens next to every chapel they built. The vineyard
and garden served to meet their nutritional as well as their spiritual needs. Those noble
vineyards also helped to alleviate the terrible heat in those lonely chapels. the grapes not
only produced wine, but also were eaten as a refreshing fruit.
Fiesta de la Vendimia
La Vendimia es la celebración más antigua de la Argentina, nacida co-
mo fiesta popular de la cosecha de la vid. Su origen se remonta a la
época de las grandes inmigraciones, cuando al finalizar los trabajos de
cosecha y elaboración del vino, se agradecían las bondades de la natu-
raleza con bailes y cantos; se elegía la más linda de las mujeres y se la
coronaba con hojas de vid y racimos de uva. Este sencillo homenaje fue
72 la fuente inspiradora de la fiesta que revive Mendoza, cada año.
Hoy es un imponente espectáculo alegórico con grandes coreografías
enmarcadas en un fantástico despliegue de luz y sonido. Se realiza el
primer sábado de marzo, desde hace 70 años.
En el marco de la gran celebración, durante el mes de enero se inician
los festejos, con las primeras fiestas departamentales, donde se reali-
za la elección de la reina que luego representará a su departamento
en el Acto Central. La trascendencia cultural, social y turística de cada uno de estas celebraciones le
dan a la Vendimia envergadura y proyección internacional.
Bienvenidos pues, a la cosecha que cada año nos permite brindar juntos con el "vino nuevo".
Grape Harvest Festival The Vendimia festival is the oldest event

of its kind in Argentina. It was born as popular celebration follow-
ing the early grape harvests. Its origin can be tracked to the period
of heavy immigration. After the harvest and wine production had
been completed, workers expressed their gratitude for the bounty
of nature in a celebration of dance and song. During those festivi-
ties a woman considered most beautiful was chosen and crowned
with vine leaves and bunches of grapes. That simple ceremony was
the inspiration for the present Vendimia festival, which takes place
in Mendoza every year. It has been held on the first Saturday of
March for the past 70 years. The festival begins in January with re-
gional celebrations held throughout the province of Mendoza. At
each of these regional events a Queen is chosen to represent her
region at the main event in March. The cultural, social and tourism importance of each of these
celebrations elevates the Vendimia to a festival of international proportions.
Welcome, then, to the annual harvest that allows us to together drink a toast with the new wine.

Con el nombre de “Corso de los carros alegóricos”, nació lo que hoy
conocemos como “Vía Blanca de las Reinas” viernes a la noche y “Car-
rusel” el sábado a la mañana. Las soberanas departamentales que as-
piran al reinado nacional recorren, en los pintorescos carros, las
principales calles de la ciudad, mientras una multitud se da cita en las
veredas, para saludar a las candidatas y sus cortes. El desfile con su pa-
rafernalia en movimiento y su diversidad de participantes, expresa el trabajo y el deseo de la gente
de los distintos departamentos, de tener un lugar y una voz en la Vendimia.
The White Way and the Carrusel During the Via Blanca and the
Carrusel parade, the regional queens seeking the national scepter pass
through the main streets of city in picturesque carriages, while a crowd
gathers on the sidewalks to greet the candidate queens and their
courts. This colorful parade, with its diverse participants, is an expres-
sion of the efforts made by those from different regions within Men-
doza to participate and have their voices heard.

El Acto Central es la culminación de la fiesta del trabajo. La
danza y la música toman protagonismo para celebrar el fruto
de un año de esfuerzo. La cita es el primer sábado de marzo
en el Teatro Griego Frank Romero Day con su entorno de ce-
rros hacia donde se expande el espectáculo de luz y sonido. 73
Todos los años, más de cuatro mil metros cuadrados de esce-
narios, pantallas, cajas lumínicas, más de 1000 artistas en es-
cena entre bailarines, actores, músicos y figurantes, efectos
especiales en 3D, serán protagonistas de la puesta en escena
que dará vida a la noche más importante de Mendoza. Cuan-
do termina el espectáculo artístico, se dá comienzo a la instan-
cia final de la noche: la elección que coronará a la Reina
Nacional de la Vendimia. También hay repeticiones el domingo
y el lunes siguiente. La reina electa se transforma en la emba-
jadora de Mendoza, con la misión de difundir las virtudes de
su pueblo y la belleza de su tierra.
Main Event Main Event is the Festival’s closing event. Dance
and music become the protagonists when celebrating the
fruits of a years’ effort. The Festival devoloped into the Frank
Romero Day Greek Theater, the first Saturday of March, su-
rrounded by hills which enhance the show of light and sound.
Every year a four thousand square meter- stage, big screens,
light boxes, more than 1000 artists on stage including dancers,
actors and extras will be starring the show that makes Men-
doza’s most important evening come to life. When the artistic
show ends, the final instance of the night begins: the choice
of the National Vendimia Queen. The following Sunday and
Monday there are usually repetitions of the party. Even
though the festival was big at birth, it has continually expan-
ded in size and content.
