Verb To Be- Past (Pasado del verbo ser- estar). Verb To Be – Past-
Positive sentences (Verbo ser o estar- pasado - oraciones
interrogativas)
Para la forma interrogativa del verbo TO BE escribimos siempre el verbo principal, al
principio.

La forma negativa del verbo to be

Se escribe:

WAS …………………… + I + el resto de la oración?

WERE ………………… + YOU + el resto de la oración?

WERE…………………. + WE + el resto de la oración?

WERE ………………….. + THEY + el resto de la oración?

WAS …………………… + HE + el resto de la oración?

WAS …………………….. + SHE + el resto de la oración?

WAS …………………… + IT + el resto de la oración?

Forma Interrogativa:

Was I?: ¿era yo? o ¿estaba yo?

Were you?: ¿eras tú? o ¿estabas tú?

Was he?: ¿era él? o ¿estaba él?

Was she?: ¿era ella? o ¿estaba ella?

Was it?: ¿era eso? o ¿estaba eso?

Were we?: ¿eramos nosotros? o ¿estabamos nosotros?

Were you?: ¿erais vosotros? o ¿estabais vosotros?

Were they?: ¿eran ellos? o ¿estaban ellos?

Were they at home yesterday? → ¿Estaban ellos ayer en casa? (no confundir "where
(donde)" con were).

Para practicarlo, lo vamos a usar con los días de la semana. Y también te voy a enseñar estas
palabras que se usan con el pasado, generalmente llamadas clue/key words (palabras claves/

palabras llaves). Cuando las veas en una oración prestà atención que te indican el tiempo del
verbo, en este caso PASADO SIMPLE DEL VERBO “TO BE”.

yesterday= ayer

LAST week= la semana pasada (se puede usar "last year" = el año pasado, o last month=el
mes pasado)

five minutes AGO= hace diez minutos.

¿Cómo lo estàs haciendo? ¿Viste qué no es tan dificil? ¿Hacemos un repaso?

Vamos a trabajar con un cuadrito en el que vamos a poner dónde estuvieron estas personas
durante la semana.

Pero antes vamos a repasar cómo se forma el Interrogativo de este verbo. Lo único que debes
hacer es poner "was" ó "were" al comenzar la oración. Y al contestar debes usar la forma corta,
o sea: el pronombre + verbo.

Interrogativo de "TO BE" (pasado)

I? you?

Was he? Were we?

she? they?

it?

Yes, he was Yes, you were

No, he wasn´t No , you weren´t

Fijate en los días de la semana, dónde estuvieron estas personas (te pongo los días
abreviados por razones de espacio)

Para decir que estuvo en la escuela, se dice "AT school" y se usa AT para todos los otros
lugares, significando "en".
