INTRODUCCIÓN

Es una corriente artística que fue desarrollada en 1917 en Holanda por Piet
Mondrian en colaboración con Theo van Doesburg. El surgimiento de este
movimiento a comienzos del siglo XX lo coloca dentro de las corrientes de arte
moderno.

Mondrian buscó que su concepción fuese universal. Esta corriente también está
considerada dentro del arte abstracto, pues ofrece una concepción mucho más
analítica de las obras y trata de no imitar elementos de la vida real —como el
realismo—, sino representar las formas y colores de la realidad.

Al mismo tiempo, este movimiento guarda relación con el cubismo por la


representación de figuras geométricas. Aunque el neoplasticismo es sumamente
conocido por sus pinturas, también es desarrollado en otras áreas relevantes de
las artes plásticas, como por ejemplo, en la escultura y en la arquitectura.

y de muchos más artistas

DE STIJL
En años previos al estallido de la Primera Guerra Mundial, Theo van
Doesburg conoció a una serie de artistas como Piet Mondrian y
Rietveld, entre otros, quienes le apoyaron para llevar a cabo la
fundación de la revista De Stijl
Luego de publicar el manifiesto
neoplasticista en la primera edición de
De Stijl, Mondrian y Van Doesburg se
volvieron colaboradores. Van Doesburg
es considerado uno de los fundadores
del neoplasticismo, ya que a través de
la fundación de la revista participó
activamente en la difusión de este arte

LOS AUTORES
Pieter Cornelis Mondriaan

PIET MONDRIAN Amersfoort, Holanda 1872

Se formó en la Academia de Arte de Amsterdam


hasta 1908

En 1911 se mudó a París donde conocio a Picasso y


Braque y empezó a pintar como cubista

En 1914 viajó a Holanda a visitar a su padre donde


quedó atrapado por la primer guerra mundial

En 1918 regresó a Paris y en 1938 se mudó a Lónres


donde estaría poco tiempo, finalmente se mudó a
Nueva York en 1940 y en 1944 murió a causa de una
pulmonía

Theo van doesburg En sus inicios estuvo fuertemente influido por el estilo
fauvista, posteriormente adoptó las bases de
Kandinsky y empezó ha sumergirse en el arte
abstracto geométrico.

En 1917 funda la revista De Stijl o El Estilo, también


colaboró en proyectos arquitectónicos y escribió textos
teóricos.

En 1918 publicaron el manifiesto del Neoplasticismo,


en 1924 participó en conferencias en la Bauhaus y en
Europa; se separaron con Mondrian cuando Doesburg
empezó a introducir las líneas diagonales.
