Project 2

Subcompetence: Communicate your ideas using the content learned in the


course.

Learning Purpose: In this activity the student shows that he/she can use the
language with the purpose of communicating ideas orally.

Previous activity: Watch, read, and listen to the resources in the course in


both, Blackboard and in the English Discoveries platform.

Type: Individual/pairs  

Worth: 5 points

Penalty: Assignments delivered after the deadline or by email will not have


summative worth.  If you overuse mechanical translators, and do not contact a
classmate you will be penalized.

Instructions: When doing your project take into account the following criteria

o Check the rubric for the project.


o Study and reflect about the content and resources of the week.
o Download and complete the cover page given at the beginning of the
week.
o Use information from a scientific and academic site (CRAI, Google
Académico, Scielo, Redalyc, for example).
o Avoid plagiarism, SafeAssign is a tool available to detect it on
Blackboard.
o Do not copy documents from internet or any other source.

Para el desarrollo de esta actividad debe realizar lo siguiente:


o Contacte a un compañero (a) de clase, puede ser el (la) mismo (a) con el
(la) que trabajó en las actividades anteriores (si decide realizar el
proyecto de manera individual, tendrá la posibilidad de que su trabajo
tenga el valor de 2.5 %).
o Realicen un script o guion en un documento de Word de al menos
cincuenta líneas, donde utilicen todo lo aprendido a lo largo de las
semanas 6, 7 y 8.
o Utilicen y subrayen en el documento la gramática, vocabulario, frases y
expresiones aprendidas.
o Inventen los escenarios y conversaciones tomando como guía los
ejemplos dados en los recursos de la plataforma English Discoveries y
en el aula virtual.
o Graben el video utilizando Zoom, donde ambos se vean manteniendo
una conversación, haciéndose y respondiendo preguntas, de una forma
natural y sin leer continuamente el guion.
o Suba el documento de Word que contiene el script o guion y el link del
video individualmente (preferiblemente debe estar en Youtube, Google
Drive o One Drive) al aula virtual en la fecha estipulada, de manera que
el docente pueda revisar y calificar la actividad.

JAVIER: hi Marcela, how are you?

MARCELA: hello Javier, im fine, how about you?

JAVIER: im happy to hear you are good. By the way a little bit worried.

MARCELA: oh no! tell me what is worrying you?

JAVIER: i need to find job, I have so much debts to pay.

MARCELA: oh i am so sorry to hear that Javier. I didn’t know you were unemployed.

JAVIER: yes, and I don’t know what to do. What should I do Marcela?

MARCELA: i think you should calm down. You should do a curriculum.

JAVIER: you are right, that employers can know how much I know.

MARCELA: yeah exactly, but I suggest you to be honest on your curriculum.

JAVIER: I would, what else do you suggest me?

MARCELA: you should try to learn new things, that way you would have best opportunities, and you
shouldn’t waste your time finding jobs that you cant do.

JAVIER: thank you marcela for your advices.

MARCELA: your welcome, I am worried too.

JAVIER: sorry to hear that, can I know why?

MARCELA: yes, in some weeks I will have my first trip abroad.

JAVIER: wow Marcela that sound great, why are you worried.

MARCELA: I dont know exactly how to travel. can you give me some advices please?

JAVIER: sure, I have traveled abroad, my first suggestion for you is to book a hotel.

MARCELA: ok, I will do that.

JAVIER: you already have the your airplane ticket right?

MARCELA: yes, I do.

JAVIER: You have to get to the boarding gate.

MARCELA: for what?

JAVIER: there the flight attendance will ask you your passport.

MARCELA: Just that?


JAVIER: oh! And your boarding pass of course.can I ask you marcela where are you going?

MARCELA: I am traveling to Mexico, for summer vacation.

JAVIER: great, is it a scale flight?

MARCELA: yes, thats why is a cheap flight.

JAVIER: and where are you going to stop by?

MARCELA: in Gautemala, im very excited and nervous at the same time.

JAVIER: wel if it’s not too much to ask, could you bring me a souvenir form Mexico?

MARCELA: Yes, shure , you have been a good friend.

JAVIER: thank you Marcela, yesterday I was thinking if we could go to the cinema?

MARCELA: that sounds found, but when do you want to go?

JAVIER: is it okay today?

MARCELA: oh, I am afraid I can’t today, to be honest I don’t carry money right now.

JAVIER: oh don’t worry for that, I am inviting you, I will pay.

MARCELA: no, I can’t allow that, and I am not feeling so well to watch a movie with a lot of noise.

JAVIER: why Marcela?

MARCELA: it can give me headache.

JAVIER: don’t worry I understand, how about going for a dinner tomorrow?

MARCELA: tomorrow i can’t, I have an appointment with the dentist.

JAVIER: its fine, well it will be next week I think.

MARCELA: yeah, its best. What about going for an ice cream right now?

JAVIER: I am afraid I can’t, I am lactose intolerant.

MARCELA: ohh yes, sorry I forgot that.

JAVIER: well see you next week then, good bye Marcela.

MARCELA: bye Javier, see you next week.
