Presente simple – Simple Present Tense

Se usa para:
Expresar verdades permanentes: Christmas falls on December 25th. / La Navidad cae el 25 de diciembre.
Expresar costumbres o hábitos: Kevin plays golf every Saturday. /Kevin juega golf cada domingo.
Para anuncios: The President announces a tax increase. /El presiente anuncia un aumento de impuestos.

Verbo To Do – Hacer (como verbo principal) Se usa como verbo principal cuando nos referimos a hacer
algo, pero más de forma abstracta

Este verbo también se usa de manera auxiliar para otros verbos para hacer preguntas. En estos casos no lo
podemos traducir en español ya que es una construcción propia del inglés.

Estructura: Verbo auxiliar + sujeto + verbo principal + complemento

Ejemplos: Do you study here? / ¿Tú estudias aquí?

1: Do you know her? /La conoces?


2: Does he work here? /Él trabaja aquí?

También se usa para responder, ya sea de manera afirmativa o negativa

1: Do you know her? Respuesta Afirmativa: Yes, I do. / Negativa: No, I do not know her.
2: Does he work here? Afirmativa: Yes, he does. / Negativa: No, he does not work here.

Presente Progresivo o Continuo / Present Progressive or Continuous

El presente progresivo (compuesto por el verbo be y el gerundio que se forma agregando -ing al final del
verbo) se utiliza para expresar una acción en curso, en progresión o inconclusa. Ejemplos:
1. The children are sleeping right now. / Los niños están durmiendo en este momento.
2. She is eating chicken with rice. / Ella está comiendo pollo con arroz.
3. I am talking with Sandra. / Estoy hablando con Sandra.
