Defending Our Religious Liberty! !
Cardinal Daniel N. DiNardo, Archbishop of
Galveston!Houston and President of the United
States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB),
says that he will con#nue to advocate for
permanent relief from Congress on issues of
cri#cal importance to people of faith. “Religious
freedom is a fundamental right that should be
upheld by all branches of government and not
subject to poli#cal whims,” he says. Cardinal
DiNardo met with President Trump in early May
to address First Amendment rights of the church
that have been ignored under Obamacare.
GOSPEL!
"Jesus came and stood in their midst
and said to them, 'Peace be with you.'"
Then, he said it again. And then, he
breathed on them and said to them,
“Receive the Holy Spirit.'" Jesus brings
peace, and he brings the Holy Spirit.
Peace, in fact, is one of the fruits of the
Holy Spirit. Today, on this feast of
Pentecost, we remember the drama=c
outpouring of the Holy Spirit that came
upon those first apostles and the peace
that came along with it. But we do
more than remember. We also
celebrate the presence of this same
Spirit in our midst. Through the
sacrament of bap=sm, every Chris=an
receives the indwelling presence of the
Holy Spirit in his or her soul. Thus, the
giA of peace is already ours! The
ques=on is whether or not we have
really begun to appreciate and u=lize
this most precious giA. Like the apostles
who had locked themselves up "for fear
of the Jews," we too are capable of
imprisoning ourselves in our own
anxie=es. We fret and worry about the
future, about our sufferings or our
disappointments, and too oAen let
these concerns s=fle the true peace
that Jesus offers us. But the Church
today urges us to rejoice and to step
out in faith like the apostles who leA
their fears behind them. Peace not only
alleviates our fears, it also frees us to
live our faith to the fullest, to have the
courage to take risks, and to leave our
comfort zone for the sake of the
Gospel. This is what we are called and,
not only that, empowered to do.
Anything less is a kind of spiritual
poverty we bring upon ourselves. God
has given us the giA of himself, present
and available in every moment, every
place, and every situa=on. May we
recognize this most wonderful giA and
give thanks with grateful hearts. ¿Does
your heart feel this wonderful giA? Are
you thankful for it?!

MEDITACION DEL EVANGELIO!
"Jesús se acercó y se paró en medio de
ellos y les dijo:" La paz este con
ustedes ". Entonces lo dijo de nuevo. Y
luego, él les dio la respiración y les
dijo: "Reciban a el Espíritu Santo."
Jesús trae la paz, y trae el Espíritu
Santo. La paz, de hecho, es uno de los
frutos del Espíritu Santo. En estas
celebración de Pentecostés,
recordamos el derramamiento
dramá=co del Espíritu Santo que vino
sobre los primeros apóstoles y la paz
que vino con él, pero hacemos más
que recordar.También celebramos la
presencia de este mismo Espíritu en
medio de nosotros en el Sacramento
del bau=smo, todo cris=ano recibe en
su alma la presencia del Espíritu Santo
en su interior, por lo que el don de la
paz ya es nuestro. La pregunta es si
realmente hemos comenzado a
apreciar y u=lizar este regalo tan
precioso. Los apóstoles que se habían
encerrado "por temor a los judíos", así
también nosotros somos capaces de
encarcelarnos en nuestras propias
ansiedades. Nos preocupamos por el
futuro, nuestros sufrimientos o
nuestras decepciones, y con
demasiada frecuencia dejamos que
estas preocupaciones ahoguen la
verdadera paz que Jesús nos ofrece.
Pero la Iglesia hoy nos insta a
regocijarnos y a salir adelante en la fe
como los apóstoles que dejaron atrás
sus miedos. La paz no sólo alivia
nuestros temores, sino que también
nos libera a vivir nuestra fe al máximo,
a tener el coraje de asumir riesgos y a
dejar nuestra zona de seguridad por el
bien del Evangelio. A esto es lo que se
nos llama y, no sólo a eso, que es lo
que estamos facultados hacer.
Cualquier otra cosa menos, es una
clase de pobreza espiritual que nos
nos ha dado el don de sí mismo,
presente y disponible en cada
momento, en cada lugar y en cada
situación. Podemos reconocer este
maravilloso regalo y dar gracias con
corazones llenos de gra=tud. ¿Tu
sientes esa gra=tud en tu corazón? !
