ENGLISH II SECOND PARTIAL

ORAL EVALUATION GUIDELINES

1. Usted debe mantener una conversación de 4-5 minutos con uno de sus
compañeros escogidos al azar utilizando uno de los escenarios que se presentan
después de estas instrucciones. Evite pausas.

2. Los ´Phrase Banks´ son ayudas para que su conversación sea más organizada y
concreta, pero usted necesita completarlos con más estructuras y vocabulario para
cumplir con el tiempo requerido. Revise las presentaciones de la clase, los recursos
en Blackboard y el material extra trabajado durante clase para este fin.

3. Es obligatorio preparar los escenarios con anticipación. Recuerde que al momento


de su examen cualquiera de dichos escenarios y roles A y B serán escogidos al azar.

4. Este examen tiene un valor de 10 puntos oro.

5. Durante la evaluación oral es obligatorio habilitar su cámara de vídeo y


micrófono.

6. Los aspectos a tener en cuenta al momento de evaluar su participación serán:

• Fluidez: Habilidad de producir la lengua en tiempo real y hablar por


periodos largos (apropiados a su nivel) sin vacilación.

• Interacción: Habilidad de interactuar y mantener una conversación. Esto


requiere comprensión tanto para responder como para hacer una pregunta
de seguimiento que es apropiada para el comentario del interlocutor.

• Rango Gramatical y Exactitud: Uso apropiado de las estructuras


gramaticales, elección de tiempo gramatical necesario para el contexto o
situación, orden correcto de las palabras en la estructura gramatical.

• Recurso Léxico: Rango de palabras y frases usadas de manera apropiada.

• Pronunciación y entonación: Inteligibilidad, ritmo, melodía del habla.


ROLE-PLAY #1: IN THE CLASSROOM

Student A
You are in the classroom waiting for your teacher to arrive. Say hi to your classmate
and introduce yourself. (Be spontaneous, do it as you normally greet your
classmates in the classroom).
o Ask your classmate the following question: What are you studying?
o Answer your classmate’s question.
o Ask your classmate the following question: What classes are you taking this
trimester?
o Tell your classmate the classes you are taking this trimester.
o Answer your classmate’s question. What about you?

Student B
You are in the classroom waiting for your teacher to arrive. One of your classmates
says hi to you. Say hi and your name. (Be spontaneous, do it as you normally greet
your classmates in the classroom).
o Answer your classmate’s question. Ask: What are you studying?
o Answer your classmate’s question. Ask: What about you?
o Ask your classmate if she/he is enjoying the classes.
o Answer you classmate’s question.
ROLE-PLAY #2: MAKING PLANS

Student A
You and your partner want to go out today. Choose one of the following places and
invite your classmate to go there. Use this expression: Let’s go to…

Answer your classmate’s question and tell him/her:


Are we __________ or _______________? What is better for you?
o Walking
o Driving
o Taking the bus
o Taking a taxi
o Taking the train
o Answer to your classmate’s proposal. You can use phrases such as:
o Ok
o Sounds good
Student B
Your classmate invites you to go to a place. Tell your classmate you want to go. You
can use any of these expressions:
o Sure
o Ok
o That’s a good idea
Ask your classmate: How are we going to go?
Answer your classmate’s question. You may use phrases such as:
o We are _________________ (walking, driving, taking the bus, taking a
taxi) I think it’s better.
o Reply to your classmate.
ROLE-PLAY #3: ON VACATIONS VIDEO CALL

Student A
Your friend (Student B) is on vacation in Roatán. Right now, you are at home and
you decide to video call him/her to ask how he/she is. Take out your cellphone to
video call your classmate. Ask your friend what is he/she doing, what are the
children doing, what is the husband/wife doing?
• Answer the questions your friend asks about you by looking at the following
pictures:

• Say good-bye to your classmate.

Student B
You are on vacation with your family in Roatán. Your friend (Student A) video calls
you on Whatsapp from Tegucigalpa to ask how you are. Answer his/her questions.
1. Your phone is ringing, put on your headphones and answer the video call.
Greet your friend.
2. Answer your friend’s questions by looking at the following pictures.

3. Ask your friend what is he/she doing.


4. End the whatsapp video call. Say good bye!
