Alberti: de la Casa a la Ciudad

RESUMEN
Este ensayo se sustenta en una investigación documental sobre el primer tratado de la
Arquitectura de la época moderna, De Re Aedificatoria escrito por León Battista Alberti
alrededor de 1450. Se toma este aporte como fuente para entender el enorme esfuerzo de
Alberti por coordinar y componer un discurso sobre la Arquitectura. Aporte teórico
importante que hace de la Arquitectura un Arte Liberal y una profesión legítimamente
establecida en el mundo moderno. Perspectiva que se deja sentir en su visión de la ciudad,
tema en el cual nos detenemos y presentamos una visión sintetizada de los aspectos claves
que se van hilvanando en el discurso sobre la ciudad, su construcción a partir de la
arquitectura como fenómeno cultural.
Se hace particular énfasis en el deber ser de la labor del arquitecto. Una tarea que
Alberti esboza en términos éticos y estéticos que influye, en consecuencia, en el deber ser
de la ciudad renacentista de gran influencia en muchos teóricos que, después de Alberti,
tomaron la Ciudad Ideal como tema de estudio.

ABSTRACT
This essay is supported by documented research about the first Architecture treatise in
modern times, De Re Aedificatoria written by Leon Battista Alberti around 1450. This
contribution has been taken as source to understand Alberti's colossal effort to compose
and coordinate a speech about Architecture. It is an important theoretical contribution
that gives rice to Architecture as a Liberal Art and as a profession rightfully established
in the modern world.
We can feel this perspective (viewpoint) in his vision about the city, theme in which we
pause to present a synthesized vision of the clue aspects that intertwine in the city
discourse, its construction ensued from Architecture as a cultural phenomena. It has been
made a special emphasis in the must be of the architect trade. A task Alberti outlines in
ethic and aesthetic terms, consequently it inspired the must be of the Renaissance city,
and its great influence to many theoretics who after Alberti took the Ideal City as a
subject of study.
