ALCOHOLES
ABSTRACT: Alcohols are organic compounds that are characterized by having one or
more hydroxyl groups (-OH) as the main group in their carbonated chains, which facilitates
the identification of each type of alcohol and the determination of the reaction speed of
these, the The main objective in this laboratory practice was to test the water solubility
capacity of the following alcohols: 1-butanol, 2-propanol, terbutanol, ethanol and methanol.
Also obtain the differentiation of primary, secondary and tertiary alcohols through tests
such as the Lucas test and the reaction produced with sodium (Na) metal and finally
identify the oxidation reactions that occur in alcohols with reagents such as the
permanganate of potassium (KMnO4) and potassium dichromate (K2Cr2O7).
