Creo que sí. Hay una amplia variedad de áreas en que uno puede trabajar.

9. En todos sus años ejerciendo la carrera, ¿cuál ha sido la meta u objetivo más difícil de
alcanzar?
Yo estudié traducción literaria por dos años, y fue un gran reto.
10. ¿Qué recomendación nos daría a los alumnos del primer ciclo de la carrera?
Traducir es siempre un gran desafío, pero también es una actividad muy gratificante. Continúen
estudiando, leyendo MUCHO y aprendiendo todo lo que puedan. Las cosas pueden ser difíciles
al empezar, pero es preciso insistir hasta conseguirlo. Al final, valdrá la pena!
1. If someone studies a career different than Translation and Interpretation, these can be related in
some way. In Rafael’s case, he studied Literature and English Language, but then he did a
master in English’s Translation, that way he involved himself more in this career.
2. Also, people that work as translators whom studied another career before, find it easier to pick a
field to specialize in. For example, Rafael studied English Language and Literature, and then
studied Literary Translation.
3. When working as a translator, you never stop studying because there is always the possibility of
pursuing a master's or a postgraduate degree or other specialties that provide us with more
knowledge about the profession.

4. Translators are able to work remotely, both the agency they work for and their clients could be
anywhere, technological advances allow this flexibility in place and time.
5. When trying to work for the first time, enthusiasm is as important as knowledge. When starting,
we don’t have much experience, but trying hard to learn and improve can give us good results.
6. Everyday knowledge and hobbies can also become important tools when doing a job. For Rafael
it was his hobby of playing video games that finally allow him to get his first job.
7. Working as a translator in Latin America is challenging. As Rafael said, some companies didn’t
pay the right amount of money for word, but that doesn’t mean is not possible.

8. To be a good translator, much more important than learning several languages and being a
polyglot, is to know your own language.
9. Studying for becoming a translator can be very rewarding. It's important to keep reading and
studying constantly.
10. There are many fields in which translators can specialize in. Especially nowadays, when
information is shared globally, the need of translating documents, whether they are medical, legal
or technical is bigger than at any other time.
