Si bien el mejor de todos los escritores españoles
fue Cervantes, Benito Pérez Galdós es el siguiente
entre los grandes novelistas que ha dado España. De
origen canario, Pérez Galdós era narrador, periodista,
dramaturgo, y como político llegó a ser diputado.
Ha sido uno de los principales representantes de la
novela realista del siglo XIX y siempre formará parte importante de
la literatura española.
Entre sus grandes obras vale destacar Fortunata y Jacinta, Doña
Perfecta, Misericordia, Episodios Nacionales, entre otras muchas
más donde plasmaba ideales vanguardistas a su tiempo. El
novelista llegó a formar parte de las propuestas para el Premio
Nobel de Literatura en 1912, sin embargo, parte de la sociedad
española no reconocía sus logros y fue boicoteado hasta que
lograron que no consiguiera el ansiado galardón.
En su momento fue amante secreto de la novelista gallega Emilia
Pardo Bazán, quienes intercambiaban un sinfín de cartas eróticas
e intelectuales y gracias a esto, el papel de la mujer cambió en las
historias de Galdós, dándole una visión modernista en la sociedad.
En sus últimos años fue perdiendo la visión, y su muerte llegó
en la madrugada del 4 de enero de 1920. A su funeral lo
acompañaron unas 30.000 personas, seguidores que fueron a
darle el último adiós a uno de los novelistas más importantes que
ha tenido España.

novelist was among those proposed for the 1912 Nobel Prize in
Literature; however, part of the Spanish society did not recognise

He was a secret lover of the Galician novelist Emilia Pardo Bazán,
with whom he exchanged endless erotic and intellectual letters,
and as a result, the role of women changed in Galdós’ stories,
giving them a modernist vision in society.
He lost his vision in the last years of his life and died in the early
morning of 4 January 1920. He was accompanied by some 30,000
people at his funeral, followers who went to bid an ultimate farewell
to one of the most important novelists Spain has ever known.

’ Art de vivre
L’art de vivre -el arte de vivir- es una locución francesa
que designa el conocimiento y la capacidad de
adecuación del comportamiento de una persona a los
usos y costumbres de otros países o culturas. La mejor
forma de disfrutar de un buen champagne es hacerlo
‘a la francesa’, un arte que consta de los siguientes pasos:
· La botella se abrirá lentamente dejando escapar un ligero
susurro. Inclinada a 45 grados, se sostendrá cerca del pecho, con
una mano sujetando el corcho y con la otra la base de la botella.
Importante: es la base la que gira y no el corcho.
· Verter sobre copa tulipán. Parecida a la copa de vino, es
ligeramente más estrecha. Su cáliz abombado permite que se
expresen y se concentren los aromas. Importante: la copa siempre
se sujeta por el tallo para que la mano no temple el vino.
· La temperatura ideal para degustar el champagne oscila entre
los 8 y los 10ºC. El tiempo de enfriamiento dependerá según el
recipiente. Por ejemplo, para una cubitera con hielo y agua,
30 minutos.
· Servir el champagne es un juego de destreza: la mano derecha
inclina la botella sujetándola por la base, mientras que la mano
izquierda inclina la copa.
Secretos de conservación
Una botella de champagne se conserva durante varios años en
posición horizontal y en la oscuridad de una bodega a 10°C.
Una vez abierta, lo más efectivo para conservar la botella abierta
es taparla con un tapón adecuado que evite la salida de gas, y
mantenerla en frío.
Maridaje
El champagne es vino, por lo que es el compañero perfecto tanto
para los aperitivos como para cualquier plato del menú. La mejor
manera de disfrutar el champagne es sentarte a la mesa y tomarlo
durante la comida. Por ejemplo, con su explosión aromática de
cítricos, y los más añejos a frutos confitados, pan de especias, y
miel, maridará perfectamente de aperitivo como unas ostras recién
abiertas y una cucharadita de caviar. O bien para acompañar
un risotto de bogavante y trufa negra. Y, por qué no, con vieiras
ligeramente doradas al horno y finas láminas de trufa.

say, “When in Rome, do as the Romans”. Regardless
of the words used, it means to adapt your behaviour
to the customs of other countries or cultures. And the
best way to enjoy good French champagne is like the
French do, an art that entails the following steps:
· Open the bottle slowly. You should hear a sort of sigh sound. Hold
the bottle at a 45-degree angle close to your chest. Use one hand
to hold the cork and the other, the base of the bottle. Note that you
then turn the base, not the cork.
· Pour the champagne in a tulip-shaped glass, which is similar to a
wine glass but slightly narrower. Its shape allows the bubbles and
aromas to fully develop. Note that the glass should always be held
at the stem so that your hand does not heat up the wine.
· Champagne is best enjoyed at a temperature between 8 and
10ºC. Cooling time will depend on where it is cooled. In a bucket
full of ice and water, for example, 30 minutes is enough.
· Pouring champagne has its technique: your right hand should tilt
the bottle while holding it at the base, while your left hand should
tilt the glass.
The secrets of storage
A bottle of champagne can be kept for several years if stored on its
side in the darkness of a cellar at 10°C. Once open, the best option
for storing an open bottle is to use a special stopper to prevent the
bubbles from escaping and keep it cold.
Pairing
Champagne is wine, making it the perfect drink to accompany
appetisers or any dish on a menu. The best way to savour
champagne is sitting at a table and enjoying it with the meal. For
example, with its aromatic explosion of citrus fruits or of candied
fruit, gingerbread and honey, in the case of aged champagnes, it
will go perfectly with freshly shucked oysters and a spoonful of
caviar. Or to accompany a lobster and black truffle caviar. Or, why
not, with slightly baked scallops with thinly sliced truffle.

¿ e dónde surgió la idea de querer ser diseñadora
de calzado?
Reconozco que siempre he tenido fijación por el
calzado. Desde muy pequeña he admirado el estilo
propio de mi madre, siempre fiel a su buen gusto
innato sin seguir demasiado las modas pasajeras.
Recuerdo que me encantaba abrir su zapatera y ver su colección.
Prácticamente nunca me los probaba, simplemente los observaba
y admiraba la belleza de un objeto tan pequeño pero que a su
vez transmite tanto de una persona. Pero no fue hasta que tuve
la posibilidad, de casualidad, de estudiar el diseño y artesanía de
estos objetos tan preciados para la mujer, que me planteé que
podía dedicarme a diseñarlos.
here did the idea of wanting to be a shoe
designer come from?
I’ve always had a fixation with footwear. Since I
was little, I’ve admired my mother’s own style,
always true to her innate good taste without
really following passing trends. I remember
opening her shoe closet and looking at her collection. I just
observed them and admired the beauty of an object that was so
small but in turn expresses so much about a person. But it wasn’t
until I had the opportunity, by chance, to study the design and
craftsmanship of these objects that I pondered devoting myself to
designing them.
¿Cómo surgió la oportunidad de trabajar en un estudio de
diseño en Nueva York?
Fue mientras cursaba mis estudios de Arquitectura de Interiores
allí. Me quedaban créditos y seleccioné una clase de Diseño
de Calzado porque me pareció que me iba a ser fácil… ¡y
lo fue! Resultó que tenía talento para ello, y la profesora me
ofreció trabajar con ella en el estudio en el que ella trabajaba.
Era un estudio que diseñaba para múltiples marcas conocidas,
y aunque me sirvió para saber que definitivamente me quería
dedicar a esto, la experiencia también me hizo abrir los ojos en
cuanto al sector y a querer intentar cambiar las cosas en cierta
manera.
¿Cuándo y por qué nace Acerina Cecile?
La marca nace cuando me di cuenta de que el sector textil y de
la moda en general había evolucionado hasta un punto en el que
el producto carecía de valor. Sentí la necesidad de crear una
marca con la que poder dar un paso atrás, en cuanto al valor de
las cosas. Con Acerina Cecile lo que pretendo es crear calzado
de calidad a precios más asequibles. Producto que no sigue
modas, simplemente femenino, ponible, sencillo pero diferente.
Pudo haber tenido su propia tienda en otro país, ¿Qué hizo
querer quedarse en Canarias?
Para mí la marca soy yo, son sentimientos, son emociones. No
es un simple objeto, yo transformo lo que siento y lo plasmo en
un diseño. Entonces, ¿Cómo iba a crear algo que no estuviera
conectado con Canarias? Yo soy Canaria, vivo y tengo el estudio
aquí, pero fabricamos en la Península Española y vendemos en
todo el mundo. Hoy en día las redes sociales y el e-commerce
facilitan las ventas a nivel internacional y ya no es necesario
estar presente físicamente para que el cliente conozca la marca.
¿Cómo ve la industria made in Spain ahora?
Al meterme en este sector fui consciente de lo poco que explota
España a nivel internacional la industria del calzado y la marca
Made in Spain en general. En este sector en concreto, el sello
Made in Italy sigue teniendo mucho peso cuando la realidad
es que grandes marcas conocidas y de renombre, fabrican
muchos de sus modelos en España. Aquí hay artesanos y
fabricantes que llevan generaciones en el oficio y que están
igual de capacitados que los italianos, pero no han conseguido
publicitarse lo suficiente para que el mundo lo sepa. Y aunque si
que es cierto que estos últimos años se está internacionalizando
y empezamos a estar muy bien considerados, siendo sinónimo
de calidad y artesanía, otros países como Italia o Francia siguen
llevándonos la delantera.
¿Tiene algún diseñador español como modelo de
inspiración?
Sinceramente me centro en mi propio camino y mi propia
manera de hacer las cosas. Si que es cierto que admiro a
muchos que han empezado de la nada y han conseguido
establecerse y ser reconocidos, pero no significa que por hacer
lo mismo que ellos yo vaya a alcanzar el éxito. Al final creo que
es muy importante centrarse en uno mismo y en persistir hasta
llegar a la meta.
¿Tiene otras colecciones en mente para el futuro?
¡Claro! Por ahora pretendo seguir la línea de diseños más bien
atemporales y versátiles, pero próximamente sumaremos a la
colección algún modelo con cuña e incluso alguno con tacón,
siempre manteniendo la comodidad, calidad y toque original
que caracterizan a los diseños de la marca. ¡Estad atentos

How did the chance to work in a design studio in New York
arise?
It was while I was studying interior architecture there. I had some
academic credits to complete and when I came across a Footwear
Design class I didn’t think about it twice as, I admit, thought it
was going to be easy…and it was! …It turned out that I had talent
for it, and the teacher offered me the chance to work with her at
the studio where she worked. It was a studio that designed for
several well-known brands. And although it made me realize that
I definitely wanted to work in this, the experience also opened my
eyes in terms of the industry and how I wanted to try and change
things in some way.
When and why was Acerina Cecile created?
The brand came into being when I realised that the textile industry
and the fashion industry in general had evolved to a point where
the product lacked value. I felt the need to create a brand able to
take a step backward in terms of the value of things.
With Acerina Cecile, I intend to create quality footwear at more
affordable prices. Items that don’t follow fashions – simply
feminine, wearable, simple but different.
You could have had your own shop in another country. What
made you want to stay in the Canary Islands?
For me, the brand essentially is me, it’s feelings and emotions
that I transform and translate into a design. So, how was I going
to create something if I wasn’t connected to the Canary Islands?
I am a Canary Islander. I live and have my studio here. But we
manufacture on the Spanish Peninsula and sell all over the world.
Nowadays, social media and e-commerce facilitate international
sales, and it is no longer necessary to be physically there for a
customer to get to know the brand.
How do you see the Made in Spain industry right now?
When I got into this industry, I was made aware of how little Spain
exploits internationally the footwear industry and the Made in
Spain brand in general. In the footwear industry specifically, the
Made in Italy stamp continues to be more important, when the
reality is that many well-known and renowned brands make many
of their models in Spanish factories. Here we have craft-men and
manufacturers that have been in the trade for generations and
they are just as skilled as the Italians, but they haven’t managed to
advertise themselves enough for the world to know. And although
it is true that in recent years it is becoming more internationally
known and we are starting to become highly regarded,
synonymous with quality and craftsmanship, other countries like
Italy and France continue to lead us.
Do you have any particular Spanish designer as an
inspirational model?
Honestly, I focus on my own path and my own way of doing
things. While it’s true that I admire many who have started from
scratch and have managed to establish themselves and earn
recognition, it doesn’t mean that I will be successful by doing the
same as they did. In the end, I think it’s really important to focus
on yourself and persist until you reach your goal.
Do you have other collections in mind for the future?
Of course! For now, I plan to continue with relatively timeless and
versatile designs, but soon we will add to the collection styles
with wedges or even some heels, always maintaining the comfort,
quality and original touch that characterizes the brand’s designs.

Submariner features a unidirectional rotating bezel

Manuel Millares Sall, más conocido como Manolo
Millares, nació en Las Palmas de Gran Canaria en
1926 bajo el influjo artístico de sus padres -Juan
Millares, poeta, dibujante y catedrático de instituto y
Dolores Sall, pianista. – Desde bien pequeño Millares
tiene claro que, para él, el arte no se concibe desde la barrera y sí
‘armado’ de pincel para ‘capotear’ al lienzo. Así pues, se inició en
la pintura de forma autodidacta gracias a la corriente surrealista
que imperaba en las islas, por cortesía de Oscar Domínguez y
Eduardo Westerdahl. El intrépido de Millares continuó alimentando
su yo más emprendedor realizando dos revistas artesanales
junto a sus hermanos y Felo Monzón -exponente del ‘movimiento
indigenista’-nombradas “Racha” y “Viento y marea”, hasta que
en 1945 realiza en Las Palmas de Gran Canaria su primera
exhibición individual: una exposición de acuarelas en el Círculo
Mercantil. Llegados a este punto, la aventura de Millares en el
mundo del arte experimentaría una progresión ascendente sin
parangón: desde exposiciones en galerías canarias hasta París y
Nueva York, pasando por la península. Posteriormente, su obra
estaría representada en los museos más importantes de arte
contemporáneo del mundo, por lo que, sin duda, hablamos de uno
de los nombres propios del arte del s. XX.
Su obra, en dos etapas
Surrealismo, constructivismo, carácter abstracto, cultura
aborigen… A grandes rasgos, estos fueron los pincelazos que
trazaron el devenir del arte de Millares, el cual, podríamos dividir
en dos grandes épocas:
• La primera, donde destacan las pictografías canarias. Son el
resultado del interés que Millares sentía por el surrealismo y por el
mundo de la arqueología, por las raíces profundas de las culturas
desaparecidas y por el pasado guanche de los habitantes de la
isla. Se servía de los dibujos geométricos de los aborígenes de
Gran Canaria y de los signos rupestres del Barranco de Balos.
Conceptualmente constituye una reflexión por parte del artista
de la civilización guanche, enlazando la tradición indígena con
el surrealismo. Su interés por el subconsciente y lo primigenio,
evocan el hallazgo de nuestro pasado, de nuestro origen.
• En la segunda, Millares empieza a utilizar las arpillerias como
elementos que añade a la superficie del cuadro junto con otros
materiales como la arena, cerámica o madera. La arpilleria es
una evocación de las telas con las que se envolvían las momias
guanches, descubiertas por el pintor en el Museo Canario. Millares
se decanta por las superficies de arpillera que desgarra, rompe,
perfora, cose y recose. Encumbra el valor de la materia como hilo
conductor de la expresión. Su paleta se reduce y se torna muy
sobria. La abstracción se sustituye por una reconocible figuración
y la obra adquiere, incluso por los materiales que incorpora a ella,
un matiz social y moral. Denuncia las atrocidades y barbaridades
de este mundo.
Finalmente, Manolo Millares falleció en Madrid el 14 de agosto
de 1972, y es considerado uno de los artistas españoles de más
renombre universal.

Manuel Millares Sall, better known as Manolo
Millares, was born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
in 1926 under the artistic influence of his parents
Juan Millares, a poet, draughtsman and high school
teacher, and Dolores Sall, a pianist. From the time
he was a boy, Millares was certain that for him, art was not about
barriers, but about being “armed” with a paintbrush in order to
“dominate” the canvas. Thus he began painting in a self-taught
way thanks to the surrealist current that prevailed on the islands
due of the presence of Oscar Domínguez and Eduardo Westerdahl.
The intrepid Millares continued nourishing his most enterprising
self by creating two artisan magazines (Racha and Viento y marea),
together with his brothers and Felo Monzón, an exponent of the
“indigenous movement”, until he had his own solo show in 1945 in
Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, a watercolour exhibit at the Círculo
Mercantil. It was at this time that Millares’ adventures in the world
of art experienced an unparalleled upward progression: from
exhibits at Canary Island galleries to exhibits in mainland Spain
to shows in Paris and New York. His works subsequently went
on to be displayed at the world’s most important contemporary
art museums, meaning that we are undoubtedly talking about a
leading figure in 20th century art.
His work, in two periods
Surrealism, constructivism, abstraction, indigenous culture…
Generally speaking, these were the styles that shaped the course
of Millares’ art, which could be divided into two main periods:
The first, in which Canary Island pictographs prevail. They are
the result of Millares’ interest in surrealism and in the world of
archaeology, in the roots of extinct cultures and in the Guanche
past of the inhabitants of the island. He was influenced by the
geometric drawings of the indigenous people of Gran Canaria and
by the cave paintings from the Barranco de Balos. Conceptually,
it was a reflection by the artist on the Guanche civilisation,
linking indigenous tradition with surrealism. His interest in the
subconscious and the primal evoked the discovery of our past, of
our origin.
In the second period, Millares began to use hessian fabric as an
element that he added to the surface of the painting, alongside
other materials like sand, ceramics and wood. Hessian is
reminiscent of the fabrics used to wrap Guanche mummies, which
were discovered by the painter at the Canary Island Museum.
Millares preferred hessian surfaces that he would tear, rip,
puncture, sew and mend. He used the value of the material as
a way to direct his expression. He began using fewer and more
sombre colours. Abstraction was replaced by a recognisable
figuration, and his works acquired, partly because of the materials
they used, a social and moral nuance. He denounced the atrocities
and cruelties of the world.
Manolo Millares died in Madrid on 14 August 1972. He is
considered to be one of the most renowned Spanish artists.

models more than 20 years ago. Their unique design
was distinguished by the special strap integrated
into the case. For 2020, the brand has updated the
ingenious concept and revamped the collection with
new Highlife Automatic COSC models. They all have a
system that makes it possible to change between a steel bracelet
and a leather, crococalf suede or rubber strap, alternating from
classic to sporty on a whim!

Reforzada por estos avances, la colección Highlife ha regresado.
Se necesitaron dos años de desarrollo para dar a luz estos los
modelos de Highlife Automatic COSC. Fiel a la colección original
de 1999 y aún diseñada de acuerdo con los mismos valores clave
de Frederique Constant, la nueva colección Highlife comparte
ciertas características fundamentales por ser finamente elaborada,
fabricada en Suiza, y diseñada para el uso diario.
Los modelos tienen la misma caja de 41 mm. Fieles al ADN
de la marca, presentan una apariencia moderna pero elegante,
o sport chic, y han sido diseñados para la próxima generación
de coleccionistas ansiosos por abrazar los relojes de lujo
Swiss Made.
Nuevo estuche con pulsera intercambiable
Como la inspiración original, la colección Highlife 2020 tiene
un brazalete integrado. La falta de cuernos permite una mayor
flexibilidad y ayuda a que el reloj se asiente naturalmente en la
muñeca. El diseño integrado es infinitamente más complicado
de concebir que cualquier correa con cuernos. El proceso
requiere una perfecta continuidad entre las líneas de la caja y los
eslabones, una transición suave, regular pero gradual al broche y
una fluidez natural que debería ser casi imperceptible.
Reinforced by these advances, the Highlife is back. Two years
of development were required to create these Highlife Automatic
COSC models. True to the original 1999 collection and still
upholding Frederique Constant’s key values, the new Highlife
collection shares certain fundamental characteristics, namely that
it is meticulously crafted, Swiss made, and designed for everyday
wear.
The models have the same 41 mm case. In keeping with the
brand’s DNA, they have a modern yet elegant look, i.e., a sporty
chic air, and have been designed for the next generation of
collectors eager to embrace Swiss made luxury watches.
New interchangeable strap set
Like the original inspiration, the Highlife 2020 collection has an
integrated bracelet. The lug-less design makes the piece more
flexible and helps it to sit more naturally on the wrist. Nonetheless,
the integrated design is much more complicated to create than a
strap with lugs. The process requires perfect continuity between
the lines of the case and the links, a smooth, regular but gradual
transition to the clasp, and a natural flow that should be almost
imperceptible.

¿ leva tiempo trabajando con Pesavento, ¿Cómo
surgió esta colaboración?
Juan Carlos Comesaña, el director general de
Pesavento en España, pensó en mí por la imagen
de una persona que lleva con mucho orgullo nuestra
cultura y que lo puede transmitir a todas partes.
Represento a una mujer dinámica, trabajadora que le gusta
arreglarse, ya sea para salir en la televisión, o viajando etc. Siempre
me ha gustado cuidar los detalles, y las joyas de Pesavento y yo
nos identificamos muy bien con ese estilo de vida.
Hizo las últimas fotos de Pesavento en Coruña. Cuéntenos
un poco de la sesión. ¿Cuál fue su pieza favorita de toda la
colección?
Ese día, me dieron un brazalete con varias vueltas que me impactó,
me lo pondría con unos jeans y una camiseta, o con un vestido, por
ejemplo. Me encantó la delicadeza de la nueva coleccion “Forever
Chic“ con ella hemos hecho las fotos de la nueva campaña de
Vogue.
ou have been working with Pesavento for some
time. How did this collaboration come about?
Juan Carlos Comesaña, the general manager of
Pesavento in Spain, thought of me for the image
of a person who bears our culture with pride and
can transmit it everywhere. I represent a dynamic
hardworking woman who likes to dress well, whether it be to go on
television or travel, etc. I’ve always liked paying attention to details,
and Pesavento jewellery and I identify very well with this lifestyle.
You took the last photos for Pesavento in A Coruña. Tell us a
bit about the session. Which was your favourite piece from the
collection?
That day, they gave me a bracelet that wraps around several times
that impressed me. I would wear it with some jeans and a t-shirt or
with a dress, for example. I loved the delicacy of the new Forever
Chic collection. We took the photos for the new Vogue campaign
with it.

¿Cuál sería su joya ideal?
La esmeralda de Elizabeth Taylor, no sólo porque admire esa
pieza, es porque tuve el placer de ver a Elizabeth en persona
al ir a Tailandia cuando yo era joven, en el hotel donde me
hospedaba. Tuve esa gran suerte.
La revista Saphir Joyeros sale en Gran Canaria. ¿Cuándo
visitará esa hermosa tierra?
Fui en el 2017- 2018, para presentar las campanadas de ese
año y fue una maravilla. Me encantaría volver pronto. Pesavento
y Saphir Joyeros tienen un compromiso muy fuerte, y seguro
en el futuro podremos hacer algún evento. Me encantaría estar
representando a Pesavento, además me encantan las islas y su
gente, siempre tan cariñosos conmigo.
Ha sido modelo, presentadora y más, ahora influencer,
¿Qué proyectos tiene próximamente?
Dentro de nada empiezo a grabar un programa digital basado en
Galicia, para contar temas de moda, vida saludable, cosechas
de vino, y un montón de riqueza que tiene esta comunidad.
Además de seguir todos los días trabajando con diversas
marcas de lujo a las que represento, con el sello de España, y
firmas consolidadas.

What would be your ideal piece of jewellery?
Elizabeth Taylor’s emerald, not only because I admire the piece,
it’s because I had the pleasure of seeing Elizabeth in person when
I went to Thailand when I was young, at the hotel where I was
staying. I was very lucky.
The Saphir Joyeros magazine comes out in Gran Canaria.
When are you going to visit this beautiful land?
I went in 2017- 2018 to present the New Year’s Eve bell ringing
and it was wonderful. I would love to go back soon. Pesavento
and Saphir Joyeros have a very strong commitment, and we will
surely be able to hold an event in the future. I would love to be

To date, the Vendée Globe is the only sailing
race round the world, solo, non-stop and without
assistance. The eight editions (it is held every four
years) of what is now referred to as the Everest of
the seas by the public have brought together 167
contenders to start the race, of which only 89 managed to cross
the finish line. Competing without any type of support, stops or
technical assistance, sailors are up against freezing temperatures,
gigantic waves, heavy skies and hurricane-force winds while they
cross the Atlantic and Southern Oceans to sail single-handedly in
the world’s roughest seas.

Ulysse Nardin’s slogan for its “X” collection, the Le Locle brand
is releasing two true all-rounders for the seas, the Diver X Cape
Horn and the Diver X Nemo Point, able to withstand any weather
conditions that the Vendée Globe may have in store for them. The
first piece, with its carbon bezel and the “X” on the dial, contains
a UN-118 movement, which ensures precision in any atmosphere.
Combining comfort and elegance, the strap has a fastener in
Velcro, a material that complements the ultra-light carbon dial. The
black satin-brushed “X” is embossed between 6 and 12 o’clock.
The second piece is set on a blue fabric strap with red lining. With
a blue rubber bezel and the immediately recognisable “X” on the
dial, the Ulysse Nardin DIVER X NEMO POINT also houses the UN-

Greek mythology according to which Zeus placed a

Technical details
As mentioned above, the three versions come in steel, DLC treated
steel and rose gold in a diameter of 40 mm. Inside beats calibre
GP03300-0132/0139, with hours, minutes, sweep seconds and
date and a power reserve of up to 46 hours. Lastly, it is set on two
different straps, a blue hand-patinated alligator strap with visible
stitching and an anthracite grey hand-patinated alligator strap with
visible stitching on the steel DLC version.

l Campeonato Mundial de Fórmula 1 conmemoró su septuagésimo
aniversario y el 13 de septiembre se observó la participación
número 1000 de la Scuderia Ferrari en un Gran Premio. La Scuderia
Ferrari, fundada en 1929, es todo un líder en el mundo del deporte de
motor, debido a que es el único equipo que ha participado en todas las
ediciones del Campeonato Mundial de Fórmula 1 desde que empezó a
celebrarse en 1950.
La colaboración de Hublot con la escudería se remonta al año 2011, y se ha ido
fortaleciendo en el plano personal y técnico, llevando incluso a la creación de una
serie de modelos que encarnan la eterna búsqueda de innovación, excelencia y
rendimiento, los valores que unen el destino de ambas marcas. Un auténtico Arte de la
Fusión que sigue vivo hoy en día con el lanzamiento del Big Bang Ferrari 1000 GP de
Hublot. Este reloj, que estará disponible en dos versiones, rinde homenaje a la gloriosa
historia de la Scuderia Ferrari y al papel fundamental que ha desempeñado en los
avances tecnológicos. El lanzamiento de ambas versiones está limitado a 20 unidades
cada una: 20-20, lo que a su vez refleja el año en que la marca participó en su carrera
número 1000.
La primera de las dos ediciones limitadas rinde homenaje a la leyenda del Cavallino
Rampante y representa el legado de la marca. Su caja, de 45 mm de diámetro y hecha
de oro blanco pulido, lleva el grabado «Limited Edition x/20» en el dorso. Se suministra
con dos correas fáciles de cambiar gracias al exclusivo e ingenioso sistema patentado
One Click de Hublot. La primera es de piel de pecarí, la misma que se usaba para
los guantes de antaño que llevaban los pilotos, con pespuntes blancos en la parte
superior y líneas de caucho negro que le aportan resistencia y comodidad. La segunda
es de piel Schedoni negra, en relieve, con pespuntes negros en la parte superior,
sobre la misma base de caucho.

La segunda edición representa el presente y el
futuro de la Scuderia Ferrari. Con un diámetro de
45 mm, su caja es de cerámica de carbono, un
material de increíble dureza y muy duradero, y
cuyo uso en este modelo tiene una explicación: es
exactamente el mismo material que se emplea en
los discos de freno de los coches. Esta tecnología
de vanguardia la desarrolló Hublot conjuntamente
con la Scuderia Ferrari. La segunda versión incluye
una correa tejida hecha de SuperFabric, así como
una segunda correa de piel de Schedoni negra, en
relieve, con pespuntes negros sobre una base de
caucho negro.
Ambas están equipadas con un movimiento de
desarrollo interno Hublot Único e incluyen un
cronógrafo flyback con una rueda de columnas y
una reserva de marcha de 72 horas. El mecanismo
se puede admirar a través del cristal en el fondo de
la caja, donde figura el logotipo «1000 GP».
Cada ejemplar se entrega en una caja de
presentación dotada con un rotor, un dispositivo
mecánico que, al girar, da cuerda automáticamente
al movimiento del reloj. Una caja exterior contiene
un par de guantes de conducir, uno de ellos
firmado por Charles Leclerc y el otro por Sebastian

he Formula 1 World Championship commemorated its 70th
anniversary and on 13 September Scuderia Ferrari celebrated
its 1000th Grand Prix race. Scuderia Ferrari, which was
founded in 1929, is an undeniable leader in the world of
motorsports, as it is the only team to have participated in
every edition of the Formula 1 World Championship since the
first race was held in 1950.
Hublot’s partnership with the team dates back to 2011, a partnership
that has gotten stronger and stronger on a personal and technical level,
even leading to the creation of a series of models that embody the eternal
pursuit of innovation, excellence and performance, values that mark the
paths of both brands. A true Art of Fusion that lives on today with the
launch of the Hublot Big Bang Ferrari 1000 GP. The watch, which will
come in two versions, pays tribute to the glorious history of Scuderia
Ferrari and the crucial role it has played in technological advancements.
Each version will be released in a limited edition of 20 units, i.e., 20-20,
which in turn reflects the year in which the carmaker participated in its
1000th race.
The first of the two editions celebrates the legend of the Prancing Horse
and symbolises the brand’s legacy. Its 45 mm case in polished white gold
is engraved with the words “Limited Edition x/20” on the case back. It
comes with two straps that can be easily swapped thanks to Hublot’s
exclusive and ingenious patented One Click system. The first is crafted
in Pecari leather, like the leather used for the gloves previously worn by
drivers, has white top stitching and is lined with black rubber for greater
sturdiness and comfort. The second is made from embossed black
Schedoni leather with black top stitching, on the same rubber base.
The second edition represents the present and future of Scuderia Ferrari.
The case measures 45 mm in diameter and is crafted in carbon ceramic, a
material that is both incredibly hard and extremely durable. Indeed, there
is a reason for this: it is exactly the same as that used for car brake discs.
This cutting-edge technology was developed by Hublot in conjunction
with Scuderia Ferrari. This second version comes with a woven strap
made from SuperFabric® and with a second leather strap made from
embossed black Schedoni leather with black top stitching on a black
rubber base.
Both are equipped with an in-house Hublot Unico movement integrating
a flyback chronograph with column wheel and a 72-hour power reserve.
The mechanism can be admired through the crystal on the case back,
which bears the logo “1000 GP”.
Each timepiece will be delivered in a presentation box fitted with a rotor,
a mechanical device that automatically winds the watch movement as it
rotates. An outer case contains a pair of driving gloves, one of which is
signed by Charles Leclerc and the other by Sebastian Vettel, Scuderia
Ferrari’s drivers.

relojería suiza de lujo, la colección TAG Heuer Carrera da la bienvenida
a una nueva incorporación, un reloj con cuatro modelos diferentes,
esta vez, el icónico cronógrafo luce un elegante diseño que evoca los
modelos históricos de TAG Heuer otorgándoles un toque moderno. Estos
cuatro cronógrafos se caracterizan por su elegancia y por su diseño
contemporáneo y refinado, inspirado en el estilo depurado que convirtió al TAG Heuer
Carrera en un reloj icónico.
Los modelos con esferas negra y azul cuentan con un elegante brazalete de acero
inoxidable con forma de H. Los ángulos de los eslabones interiores y exteriores
están redondeados para conferir un aspecto más fluido al brazalete, que también
es más fino para una mayor comodidad. La versión bicolor con esfera plateada y
agujas chapadas en oro rosa, y el modelo con esfera color antracita intenso, van
acompañados de una bonita correa de piel de cocodrilo marrón. El fondo de la caja,

Jack Heuer, antiguo CEO de TAG Heuer, se dedicó en profundidad al estudio del
diseño industrial, el cual influenció enormemente el ADN de su colección más preciada
y se ha visto reflejado en el diseño y la fabricación de todos los modelos TAG Heuer

addition, a watch available in four different models. This time, the iconic
chronograph features an elegant design that evokes historical TAG

characterised by their elegance and their contemporary and refined

The models with black and blue dials are set on an elegant stainless steel bracelet
with H-shaped links. The inner and outer links feature softer angles to make the
slimmer, more comfortable, bracelet look more fluid. The two-tone version with a silver
dial and rose-gold-plated hands and the model fitted with a deep anthracite dial are
attached to an attractive brown alligator strap. The screw-down sapphire crystal case
back reveals the innovative in-house movement, a captivating detail made even more
exclusive with its rose gold oscillating weight.
The TAG Heuer Carrera line has always incorporated the most advanced watchmaking
technology developed by the Swiss luxury brand. The new redesigned models are
driven by Calibre Heuer 02, which is visible through the transparent case back. This
new calibre is a sophisticated innovation resulting from internal development carried
out entirely at the TAG Heuer workshop in Chevenez, Switzerland. It is comprised
of 168 components, including a column wheel and vertical clutch (indicative of

Un brazalete plural
Gracias a los colores y los materiales elegidos, el nuevo
brazalete del Pasha de Cartier responde a los nuevos estilos

the classic watch
Since its launch, the original design of the Pasha de
Cartier took on the hegemony of the rounded shapes
used in classic watchmaking. Its mission was to depart
from the dogma and conventionalism of the classic
watch. This new way of understanding watch aesthetics raised
the piece in question to the rank of cult, thus becoming an object
of desire for both men and women. In 2020, the Pasha de Cartier
is staying true to the original but with an added sophistication
owing to its crown, which features a blue spinel or a sapphire, its
interchangeable strap and its multiple personalisation options.
A new “crown” for the king
The chain-secured crown is one of the key elements in the Pasha
de Cartier’s design. On this new version, the crown, which is
hidden under the fluted crown cover, is adorned with a blue spinel
or a sapphire.
A customisable watch
Cartier is unveiling new custom engraving with the Pasha watch.
In the shape of initials, the engraving is located under the crown
cover, imperceptible and secret. It cannot be seen unless the
iconic chain-secured crown of the Pasha de Cartier is unscrewed.

An all-terrain strap
With a variety of available colours and materials, the new strap
on the Pasha de Cartier is in keeping with the times, easily
adapting to changes and different situations. In steel, gold or
leather, all versions can be interchanged with the Cartier-patented
QuickSwitch system. This cutting-edge technology is coupled
with the sizing adjustment of the metal bracelet to the nearest link
thanks to the patent-pending SmartLink system, which allows the
bracelet length to be adjusted by the owner without the use of a
tool.
An exposed movement
The new Pasha de Cartier is fitted with a sapphire crystal case
back that reveals its movement, the 1847 MC automatic calibre.
This movement goes further still in the quest for performance and
ease-of-use thanks to its resistance to magnetism (resulting from
the use of non-magnetic nickel phosphorus components for the
movement’s escape mechanism as well as a shield made of a
paramagnetic alloy integrated into the case) and to water (to 100
metres).

as Vegas: todo al verde por la tecnología más

El juego y las ceremonias de bodas más ‘rockeras’
de todo el mundo, cortesía de la Graceland Wedding
Chapel, dejaron paso –del 7 al 10 de enero- al aluvión
tecnológico más importante del mundo: la CES –del
inglés, Consumer Electronics Show-. Más de 100.000 asistentes
de 160 países. Casi 6.000 expositores. Alrededor de 300
conferencias. La feria de tecnología de consumo más grande e
influyente del mundo es la antesala de las tendencias tecnológicas
predominantes de este 2020.
Hogar, dulce e inteligente hogar
Armarios que doblan la ropa, lavadoras que compran detergente
o frigoríficos que detectan alimentos y advierten de su caducidad.
En la actualidad, China tiene la mayor proporción de dispositivos
conectados en el hogar, seguido de lejos de Estados Unidos
y Europa, según un reciente estudio de GSMA Intelligence.
Las tendencias de uso varían según el país: En lugares como
China y Corea del Sur, los usuarios optan por introducir en el
hogar cámaras y termostatos conectados. Mientras tanto, en
Europa buscan ser más ecológicos y eficientes energéticamente

Vehículos voladores, autónomos y conectados

como los CMOS, de imagen, y los LiDAR, para el cálculo de
distancias-. La conducción autónoma, la detección inteligente y la
seguridad vehicular serán los puntos clave que conformen la hoja
de ruta del automovilismo.
Realidad aumentada y virtual
La realidad virtual y aumentada ya permite disfrutar un concierto
desde casa, practicar una operación quirúrgica sin estar en un
quirófano y crear una obra de arte sin necesidad de pintar en un
lienzo. Desde 2018 y hasta 2022 se prevé un incremento de casi el
700% en el negocio que genera esta tecnología. Las predicciones
apuntan a que la cifra ascenderá de 27.000 millones de dólares a
209.000 millones de dólares, según Statista.
Salud y bienestar digital
La tecnología del sueño ha triunfado en esta edición. Decenas
de dispositivos en la feria están enfocados a dormir mejor, más
tiempo y de forma más profunda. Desde colchones inteligentes
que cambian de temperatura a cascos que, según sus fabricantes,
activan la habilidad natural del cerebro para dormir bien. También
destacan los relojes inteligentes y rastreadores de actividad física.
Uno de cada cuatro adultos ya tiene uno de ellos y se prevé que la
tendencia se mantenga, según GSMA Intelligence.

as Vegas: bet it all on the latest technology
From 7 to 10 January, gambling and the world’s most
“rocker” wedding ceremonies, brought to you by
Graceland Wedding Chapel, gave way to the most
important barrage of technology in the world, the
Consumer Electronics Show (CES). Over 100,000
attendees from 160 countries. Nearly 6,000 exhibitors. Some
300 talks. The world’s largest and most influential consumer
technology show is a prelude to the predominant tech trends for
this 2020.
Home sweet (and smart) home
Wardrobes that fold clothes, washing machines that buy detergent
or refrigerators that detect food and alert about expiration dates.
China currently has the highest proportion of connected devices
in the home, followed in a far second place by the United States
and Europe, according to a recent study by GSMA Intelligence.
User trends vary depending on the country. In places like
China and South Korea, users opt for connected cameras and
thermostats in their homes. Meanwhile, Europeans seek to be
more environmentally friendly and energy efficient.
Flying, autonomous, connected vehicles
In 2019, Bell presented the most competent flying taxi to date.
Two other companies have joined in the race, Hyundai and Uber,
who jointly presented a flying taxi prototype with which they hope
to revolutionise public air transport. As for land vehicles, the
trend is all about connection. Take, for example, the prototype
presented by Sony, the Vision-S, which is full of sensors, such as
CMOS image sensors and LiDAR sensors to measure distance.
Autonomous driving, smart detections and vehicle safety will be
the key points on the roadmap to the vehicle of the future.
Augmented and virtual reality
Virtual and augmented reality allows you to enjoy a concert from
home, practice a surgical operation without being in an operating
theatre and create a work of art without the need to paint a canvas.
Activity generated by this technology is expected to increase by
nearly 700% from 2018 to 2022. Predictions estimate that revenue
will increase from $27 billion to $209 billion, according to Statista.
Digital health and wellness
There was a clear focus on sleep technology in this edition.
Dozens of devices at the show were designed to help people sleep
longer, better and deeper. From smart mattresses that change
temperature to earphones that, according to their makers, activate
the brain’s natural ability to sleep well. Other popular devices
included smart watches and fitness trackers. One out of every
four adults already has one and the trend is expected to continue,
according to GSMA Intelligence.

H
asta hace poco la feria de BaselWorld era la mayor
concentración de marcas de relojería y joyería, que se
reunían para ofrecer sus nuevos productos en Basilea,
Suiza. Sin embargo, en el 2020 todas las industrias
del mundo y eventos internacionales se vieron
afectados por el Covid-19, y BaselWorld fue uno de
ellos. La cancelación de éste generó que las marcas pidieran un
reembolso de lo invertido, ocasionando muchos problemas entre los
organizadores del evento y los participantes, dando como resultado
que las marcas comenzaran a retirarse de la feria.

Una nueva era de comunicación

Rolex, Patek Philippe, Tudor, Chanel y Chopard dejaron atrás tantos
años de BaselWorld para dar comienzo a un nuevo futuro. Mediante
un comunicado estas grandes marcas anunciaron su renuncia al
BaselWorld y dieron paso a la unión entre ellos y la Fondation de la
Haute Horlogerie, (Fundación de la Alta Relojería), quienes organizan
Watches & Wonders.
El resultado será la creación de una nueva feria, que se celebrará
en abril de 2021, donde se presentarán las mejores marcas de
alta relojería y joyería. El nuevo proyecto tendrá lugar en el centro
de convenciones de Palexpo en Ginebra, junto con Watches &
Wonders. De esta forma los clientes y la prensa tendrán un solo
lugar donde encontrarán todo al mismo tiempo, de una forma más
fácil y organizada que antes.
El Consejo de la Fundación de la Alta Relojería le dio la bienvenida al
nuevo salón que fortalecerá el histórico evento Watches & Wonders
para la próxima primavera.
El objetivo de la nueva feria es poder ofrecerles a las marcas
expositoras una nueva plataforma profesional para enfrentar los
nuevos desafíos que puedan surgir en el futuro para la industria
relojera. Los organizadores explicaron que muy pronto se irán
sumando nuevas marcas al evento principalmente orientado a
minoristas, prensa y clientes VIP.

The Eye of BaselWorld
U
ntil recently, Baselworld was the largest gathering
of watch and jewellery brands, who came together
to show off their products in Basel, Switzerland.
However, in 2020, all the world’s industries and
international events were affected by Covid-19, and
Baselworld was one of them. Cancellation of the
event led many brands to ask for a refund of what they had spent,
causing problems between the event organisers and participants
that eventually resulted in brands withdrawing from the show.
A new era of communication
Rolex, Patek Philippe, Tudor, Chanel and Chopard left behind
years of Baselworld to usher in a new future. Through a statement,
these major brands announced that they would no longer show at
Baselworld, giving way to the partnership between them and
the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie, the organiser of Watches
& Wonders.

The result will be the creation of a new show, to be held in April
2021, where top watch and jewellery brands will be exhibited.
The new project will take place at the Geneva Palexpo convention
centre, alongside Watches & Wonders. In this way, there will be a
single place where customers and the press will find everything at
the same time, in an easier and more organised way than before.
The Council of the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie welcomed the
new show, which will strengthen the historic Watches & Wonders
event for the upcoming spring.
The aim of the new show is to provide exhibiting brands with a
new professional platform that will address the new challenges that
may arise in the future for the watch industry. The organisers said
that new brands would soon be joining the event mainly aimed at
retailers, the press and VIP customers.

on más carácter que nunca
Afilando aún más su concepción streetfighter, la
Triumph Street Triple RS destaca por un cambio
estético llamativo y por hacer gala de un carácter
indomable. Su fisonomía así lo confirma: cuenta
con una pareja de faros con tecnología LED con
forma de pestañas para la luz diurna, evocado así una mirada ruda
que se clava en la carretera. Lo mismo ocurre con el cuadro de
manos, donde la pequeña máscara que lo cubre incorpora una
toma de admisión de aire, confiriéndole así al modelo un perfil más
marcado.
Carrocería renovada
Los paneles laterales, el colín y la quilla le conceden la nueva
Triumph un aspecto más anguloso. Por otro lado, la parte ciclo
sigue apostando a una horquilla invertida Showa BPF de 41 mm
y un monoamortiguador Öhlins regulable para las suspensiones,
neumáticos Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP V3 y frenos Brembo con
pinzas M50 de cuatro pistones. Todo ello en 166 kg en seco.
Más y mejores prestaciones en la mecánica
Mantiene el mismo bloque de tres cilindros con 765 cc de
capacidad, pero estrenando las exigencias de la normativa Euro5.
El propulsor se ha revisado a fondo para alcanzar los 123 CV y
79 Nm de par de motor con una mejor entrega en la zona media
de revoluciones. Para ello, se estrena un nuevo árbol de escape,
cigüeñal con un nuevo mecanizado, embrague y un eje equilibrado
para reducir inercias. Además, cuenta con un acelerador más
sensible y una caja de cambios en la que se han acortado la
primera y segunda velocidad. La línea de escape es nueva, más
compacta y con la incorporación de nuevos catalizadores -con
una salida de escape menos restricitiva-.
La electrónica, su mejor baza
La nueva Triumph hace gala de un acelerador electrónico, ABS
ajustable, control de tracción, cinco modos de conducción y
un panel de instrumentos 100% digital con nuevos gráficos e
integración con GoPro. Añadir que, el quickfisher, ahora tiene
función bidireccional.

El chasis Naked reduce el peso general de la moto y muestra las entrañas
de la misma, confiriéndole este aspecto peculiar.
W
ith more personality than ever
Further embracing its streetfighter spirit,
the Triumph Street Triple RS stands out for
its striking aesthetic change and its unruly
personality. Its all in the face: it has twin LED
headlights incorporating eyelash-shaped
Daytime Running Lights, thus evoking a rugged look that is glued
to the road. The same is true for the dashboard, which is protected
by a flyscreen that incorporates the air intake, thus giving the
model a more distinctive profile.
Renewed bodywork
The side panels, the rear unit and the belly pan give the new
Triumph a more angular look. Meanwhile, it continues to
boast Showa 41 mm upside down big piston forks and a fully
adjustable Öhlins piggyback reservoir RSU, along with Pirelli
Diablo Supercorsa SP V3 tyres and Brembo M50 4-piston radial
monobloc calipers. And all this comes in a dry weight of 166 kg.

More and better mechanical performance
It has the same 765 cc triple engine, which is now Euro 5
compliant. The engine has been significantly updated to deliver
123 PS and 79 NM of torque, with a notable improvement in
the mid-range. It features higher precision machining on the
crankshaft, clutch and balancer that has lowered rotational inertia.
Moreover, it has a more responsive accelerator and a gearbox with
short 1st and 2nd gear ratios. Lastly, the exhaust system has been
refined and now incorporates a new twin catalyser enabling a freer
flowing exhaust.
The electronics, a major asset
The new Triumph has an electronic throttle, ABS and traction
control settings, five riding modes and a fully digital instrument
panel with new graphics and GoPro interaction. To boot, it has an
up and down quickshifter.

de mayo como centro de materiales técnicos, inspiradores y de
capacitación, también organizó la inauguración del Azimut Yacht
e-Boat Show del 27 al 30 de mayo, con sesiones de chat en vivo
y citas de video uno a uno con especialistas en ventas y técnicos
del astillero. El retorno a la capacidad total ha sido ayudado por
un proceso de seis semanas detrás de escena para garantizar
la seguridad de todos los empleados, trabajando en estrecha
colaboración con representantes sindicales que lo han descrito
como “un ejemplo innovador y con visión de futuro que establece
el listón para otras compañías”.

he strength of a titan
“We are fortunate in that we are not only a strong
company but also have substantial credibility at an
international level. We want to draw on this as we
play our part in upholding the precious ‘Made in
Italy’ values and demonstrating that our country is
on the road to recovery.” With these words, the vice president
of the Azimut|Benetti Group, Giovanna Vitelli, announced that
the company’s shipyards would be restarting production. The
Azimut|Benetti Group management team is pleased with how they
were able utilise the group’s signature dynamism, creativity and
innovation to adapt to the challenging situation of the past months.
The basis of success
Franco Fusignani, CEO at Benetti, is similarly satisfied with the
situation: “It hasn’t been easy, but we managed to keep business
going with no serious setbacks. Thanks to our facilities being
located in different regions of Italy, we were even able to continue
with production focussed on April and May deliveries and at the
same time ensure maximum protection levels for our workers
through the adoption of all the safety procedures, enabling us
not to have any Covid cases at all. Our refitting company Lusben

training webinars for leading brokerage houses around the world.”
The Azimut|Benetti Group’s durable assets were what created the
foundation for this success: strong, prestigious brands, a solid

The digital realm put everything and everyone within reach
As a result of this commitment to the digital landscape, the
innovative new digital platform called the Azimut Yachts Virtual
Lounge was developed in record time. It was launched in the
first week of May as a hub of technical, inspirational and training
materials and also hosted the inaugural Azimut Yacht e-Boat Show
from 27 to 30 May, which featured Live Chat sessions and one-to-
one video appointments with sales and technical specialists from
the shipyard. The return to full capacity was aided by a six-week
process behind the scenes to ensure the safety of all employees,
during which time there was close collaboration with union
representatives who described it as “an innovative and forward-
thinking example that sets the bar for other companies”.

L
as Islas Canarias son conocidas por su buen clima
con una temperatura ambiente que oscila entre 17-24
grados centígrados, creando un espacio perfecto
para la ambientación del Rally Islas Canarias, evento
automovilístico que en 2020 había logrado 44
ediciones.
La primera edición del rally fue en 1977, sin embargo, se unió al
ERC por primera vez en el año 1982 y ha contado para el principal
campeonato de rallyes de Europa 24 veces.
El evento deportivo tiene unos 200.000 espectadores que siguen
la carrera a pie de carretera y en el 2019 fue visto por más de
35 millones de personas, además que, con su presencia en el
Campeonato de Europa, el Rally Islas Canarias recibe la visita de
aficionados y turistas de todos los rincones del continente.
El calendario del 2020 se vio afectado, debido a que la 44 edición
se celebraría en mayo, sin embargo, los organizadores del evento
lograron un acuerdo para que a finales de ese mismo año, se
realizase la carrera sin mayor problema y con nuevas medidas
de seguridad, tanto para los equipos como para las personas en
general, debido a que el evento es uno de los más importantes de
España y no se podía cancelar.
Pilotos importantes que han pasado por el Rally Islas
Canarias:
Carlos Sainz: Dos veces campeón del mundo, ganó el rally entre
1985 y 1989.
Didier Auriol: Una vez campeón del mundo, ganó el rally en 2014.
Jesús Puras: Campeón del mundo de Grupo N y ganador de
un rally del WRC (World Rally Championship 2), se impuso en la
prueba en 1997, 1999, 2000 y 2002.

The event welcomes some 200,000 spectators, who

follow the race from the road, and in 2019, it was seen
by more than 35 million people. Moreover, since it is a
running round of the ERC, fans and tourists from around
the world come to watch the Rally Islas Canarias.

The 2020 calendar was shaken up, because the 44th

edition was to be held in May; however, the event
organisers reached an agreement ensuring that the event
would be held by the end of the year, in accordance with
new safety measures for participants and the general
public, since it is one of the most important events in
Spain and could not be cancelled.

Carlos Sainz: Two-time world champion, he won the rally
between 1985 and 1989.
Didier Auriol: One-time world champion, he won the rally
in 2014.
Jesús Puras: Group N world champion and winner of a
World Rally Championship 2 (WRC2), he won the event
in 1997, 1999, 2000 and 2002.
Jan Kopecky: WRC2 champion, he won the rally in 2010,
2012 and 2013.

El AC-One 45 Openwork Automatic, que presenta
una depurada esfera esqueletada artesanal,
presenta un nuevo movimiento desarrollado por
Corum en su manufactura específicamente para
este modelo, cuyo calibre responde al nombre
de CO 297. Los puentes visibles en el lado de la esfera se han
diseñado especialmente para formar un armonioso conjunto con
la caja dodecagonal, así como con las siluetas de los gallardetes
náuticos. La subesfera de los segundos se sitúa a las 9, mientras
que el indicador de reserva de marcha se visualiza a las 3. El
AC-One 45 Openwork Automatic se presenta en dos versiones.
La primera, con una caja de titanio grado 5 que garantiza la
ligereza del diseño a la vez que evoca un estilo futurista. En la
segunda versión luce una caja en la que se asocian el oro rosa y
el titanio con tratamiento PVD negro, para un aspecto más osado
y deportivo. El dorso del movimiento es visible a través del fondo
de caja, enroscado y abierto, de bronce con cristal de zafiro con
tratamiento antirreflejos. Los dos relojes ofrecen una estanqueidad
de hasta 100 metros, mientras que el movimiento tiene una
reserva de marcha de 42 horas.

Más complejo y con la gravedad entre ceja y ceja, Corum ha
desarrollado el AC-ONE Openwork Tourbillon. Además de los
detalles anteriores presentes en el AC-One Openwork Automatic,
en la posición de las 6 se visualiza un tourbillon. De este modo,
se aprecia no solo el latido del movimiento, sino también el
virtuosismo de Corum en el ámbito de la relojería técnica. La
utilización de un tourbillon también garantiza una mayor precisión
en el cronometraje en condiciones marítimas. Tanto el AC-One
Openwork Automatic como el Openwork ostentan correas
rediseñadas. Estas correas bimaterial, realizadas con caucho en la
superficie y tejido sintético en la parte inferior, han sido diseñadas
para integrarse perfectamente con las asas. De este modo, se
minimiza la probabilidad de que quede cualquier espacio entre
las asas, la correa y la muñeca, garantizando un confort óptimo
del reloj y también protegiendo las asas y las correas contra las
agresiones externas.

The AC-One 45 Openwork Automatic, which
features a refined expertly crafted skeleton dial, is
powered by a new movement developed in-house
by Corum specifically for this model, calibre CO
297. The visible bridges on the side of the dial
were specially designed to form a harmonious ensemble with the
dodecagonal-shaped case and the silhouettes of the nautical
pennants. The seconds sub-dial is located at 9 o’clock, while
the power reserve indicator sits at 3 o’clock. The AC-One 45
Openwork Automatic comes in two versions.
The first has a grade 5 titanium case that ensures the lightness
of the overall design and at the same time seems futuristic. The
second version has a case that pairs rose gold with black PVD-
coated titanium, giving the watch a bolder, sportier look. The back
of the movement is visible through the screwed-in open back
bronze cover with anti-reflective sapphire crystal. Both timepieces
are water resistant to 100 metres and build up a power reserve of
42 hours.

More complicated and defying the laws of gravity, Corum has
developed the AC-One Openwork Tourbillon. In addition to the
details found on the AC-One Openwork Automatic, a tourbillon
can be seen as 6 o’clock. As a result, the owner is not only able
to admire the movement’s beautiful heartbeat, but also Corum’s
ingenuity in the area of technical watchmaking. The incorporation
of a tourbillon also ensures more precise timekeeping under
conditions at sea. Both the AC-One Openwork Automatic and the
Openwork Tourbillon come with redesigned straps. Made with
rubber on the surface and synthetic textile on the underside, these
bi-material straps were designed to seamlessly integrate with
the lugs. This makes it possible to minimize any gaps between
the lugs, strap and wrist, thus ensuring optimal comfort on the
wrist and protecting the lugs and straps from being damaged by
external aggressions.

Ubicada al sureste de Brasil, Río de Janeiro es
considerada una ciudad global, es decir, aquella que
tiene un efecto directo y tangible en la idiosincrasia
mundial por razones que van más allá del medio
socioeconómico, como es su influencia en términos
de cultura o política. El Pan de Azúcar, la estatua del Cristo
Redentor (una de las siete maravillas del mundo moderno), las
playas de Copacabana e Ipanema, el Estadio de Maracaná, el
Parque Nacional de Tijuca (el mayor bosque urbano del mundo), la
Quinta da Boa Vista, la isla de Paquetá, las Fiestas de Fin de Año
en Copacabana y la celebración del Carnaval son un claro ejemplo
del porqué del apelativo de ‘Cidade Maravilhosa’.
Pan de azúcar
No, no hablamos de trigo y sacarosa. Pan de Azúcar es un morro
situado en la boca de la bahía de Guanabara sobre una península
que sobresale en el océano Atlántico. Geomorfológicamente,
corresponde a un domo muy erosionado, compuesto de un
monolito de granito y cuarzo que data del Cenozoico. Atesora 396
metros de altitud sobre el nivel del mar, y un teleférico de cristal
artesonado con capacidad para 65 personas recorre una ruta de
4.401 metros entre los morros de Babilonia y Urca cada cinco
minutos.
Copacabana e Ipanema
Copacabana es uno de los barrios más famosos de la ciudad
de Río de Janeiro. Localizada en la Zona Sur de la ciudad,
Copacabana tiene una playa en forma de media luna y es apodada
Princesita del Mar debido a su áurea en las décadas del 30, 40 y
Cristo Redentor
50. Barrio de bohemia, glamour y riqueza, Copacabana dio origen
a numerosos eventos y movimientos artísticos, convirtiéndose en
referencia turística. El barrio tiene gran cantidad de restaurantes,
cines, bancos, sinagogas (tradicionalmente abriga a la comunidad
judía carioca), locales comerciales y teatros. En cambio, Ipanema
es uno de los barrios más lujosos de Brasil, prueba de ello es la
avenida Vieira Souto donde se ubican los inmuebles más caros
de América Latina. De aspecto elegante y moderno, es posible
encontrar gran variedad de cafés, restaurantes, lujosas boutiques
y discotecas que se cuentan entre las mejores de Río y de todo el
país.
Parque Nacional de la Tijuca
Entre los puntos turísticos del parque, además de sendas, grutas
y cascadas, se encuentran lugares famosos de la ciudad, como
la Pedra da Gávea, el cerro del Corcovado y el pico de la Tijuca,
cima del parque, a 1.022 msnm. El parque presenta un relieve
montañoso, incluyendo áreas del macizo de la Tijuca.
Carnaval de Río
Se considera el carnaval más grande del mundo con dos millones
de personas por día en las calles. El primer festival de Carnaval
en Río tuvo lugar en 1723. El típico desfile de carnaval de Río está
lleno de juerguistas, carrozas y adornos de numerosas escuelas de
samba que se encuentran en Río (más de 200 aproximadamente,
divididas en cinco ligas / divisiones). Una escuela de samba se
compone de una colaboración de vecinos locales que desean
asistir al carnaval, con algún tipo de trasfondo regional, geográfico
y común. Hay una orden especial que cada escuela debe seguir
con sus entradas al desfile.

Located in south-eastern Brazil, Rio de Janeiro is considered
a global city, that is, a city that has a direct and palpable
effect on the workings of the world for reasons that go beyond
the socio-economic sphere, such as its influence in terms of
culture and politics. Sugarloaf Mountain, the statue of Christ
the Redeemer (one of the seven wonders of the modern world),
the beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema, Maracaná Stadium,
Tijuca National Park (the world’s largest urban forest), Quinta da
Boa Vista, Paquetá Island, the New Year’s Eve celebrations in
Copacabana and the Carnival celebration are clear examples of
why it is nicknamed Cidade Maravilhosa.
Sugarloaf Mountain
No, we are not talking about wheat and sugar. Sugarloaf Mountain
is a hill located at the mouth of Guanabara Bay on a peninsula that
juts out into the Atlantic Ocean. Geologically, it is a highly eroded
dome consisting of monolithic granite and quartz dating back to
the Cenozoic Era. It rises 396 metres above sea level and has a
glass-panelled cableway able to hold 65 people that runs a route
of 4,401 metres from Praia Vermelha to Sugarloaf Mountain with a
stop-off on Morro da Urca.
Copacabana and Ipanema
Copacabana is one of the most famous neighbourhoods in the
city of Rio de Janeiro. Located in the South Zone of the city,
Copacabana has a crescent-shaped beach known by locals as
the Princesinha do Mar due to its golden age in the 1930s, 40s
and 50s. A bohemian, glamorous and wealthy neighbourhood,
Copacabana has given rise to many events and artistic movements

has a large number of restaurants, cinemas, banks, synagogues
(as it is traditionally home to the Carioca Jewish community),
shops and theatres. Meanwhile, Ipanema is one of the most
luxurious neighbourhoods of Brazil, as can be seen on its Avenida
Vieira Souto, a street with the most expensive properties in Latin
America. Elegant and modern looking, you will find a wide variety
of cafés, restaurants, luxurious boutiques and nightclubs that are
among the best in Rio and throughout the country.
Tijuca National Park
In addition to trails, caves and waterfalls, this park is home to
famous places like Pedra da Gávea, the mountain of Corcovado
and Tijuca Peak, the park’s summit at 1,022 metres above sea
level. The park is located in a mountainous region that includes
areas of the Tijuca Massif.
Rio Carnival
It is considered to be the largest Carnival celebration in the world
with some two million people per day on the streets. The first Rio
Carnival festival took place in 1723. The traditional Rio Carnival
parade is filled with revellers, floats and decorations from the many
samba schools found in Rio (over 200 divided into five leagues/
divisions). A samba school is composed of a collaboration of
local neighbours with some sort of shared regional or geographic
background who want to attend the carnival together. Each school
follows a special order with its parade entries.
