El comparativo y el superlativo de los adjetivos

monosílabos

Estos adjetivos forman el comparativo y el superlativo añadiendo er y est.

cheap (barato) cheaper comparativo the cheapest superlativo

long (largo) longer comparativo the longest superlativo

His car is faster than mine. (Su coche es más rápido que el mío.)

bisílabos o con más sílabas

De manera general, van precedidos de los adverbios more (comparativo) y de the most (superlativo).

careful (prudente) more careful comparativo the most careful superlativo

modern (moderno) more modern comparativo the most modern superlativo

the most comfortable

comfortable (confortable) more comfortable comparativo
superlativo
interesting (interesante) more interesting comparativo
the most interesting superlativo

Their offi ce building is more modern than ours. (Sus oficinas son más modernas que las nuestras.)

Excepciones
Los adjetivos que terminan en y cambian la y por la i, formando así ier y iest .

early (pronto) earlier comparativo the earliest superlativo

easy (fácil) easier comparativo the easiest superlativo

This exercise is easier than that one. (Este ejercicio es más fácil que ése.)
