Hello guys! Today, we will review the adjectives and the comparatives

Hola chicos, hoy recordaremos los adjetivos y veremos cómo formar los comparativos en inglés.

What is an adjective? Adjectives are words that describe the qualities.

¿Qué es un adjetivo? Los adjetivos son palabras que describen las cualidades de una cosa o una persona.

What is a comparative? Comparatives are words that we use to compare two or more things.

¿Qué es un comparativo? Los comparativos son palabras que utilizamos para comparar dos o más cosas.
When we compare two things or people
we add –ER THAN to a short adjective.

Example: short + er
Tobby
Susie Luke is short.
Luke is shorter than Tim.
Tim
When we compare two things or people we
Luke Gina add MORE + ADJ + THAN to a long
adjective.

Example: intelligent

Susie is intelligent.
Susie is more intelligent than Luke.
 Explicación: Cuando comparamos dos cosas o personas agregamos –ER than a un adjetivo corto para formar
el comparativo.

Ejemplo, para convertir la palabra en comparativa le agrego AL FINAL -ER

SHORT – PEQUEÑO (ADJETIVO NORMAL) SHORTER – MÁS PEQUEÑO (ADJETIVO QUE COMPARA).

Luke is SHORT Luke is SHORTER THAN TIM

Luke es PEQUEÑO Luke es MÁS PEQUEÑO QUE TIM

Cuando comparamos dos cosas o personas agregamos MORE + el adjetivo + THAN a un adjetivo largo para
formar el comparativo.

Ejemplo, para convertir la palabra en comparativa le agrego antes la palabra MORE a los adjetivos largos

Susie is INTELLIGENT Susie is MORE intelligent THAN Luke

Susie es inteligente Susie es MÁS inteligente QUE Luke

Podríamos decir que:

ER en español se traduce como MÁS (Con adjetivos cortos y lo coloco al final del adjetivo).
UN ADJETIVO ES CORTO CUANDO TIENE MENOS DE SEIS LETRAS.
MORE en español se traduce como MÁS (Con adjetivos largos y lo coloco antes del adjetivo).
UN ADJETIVO ES LARGO CUANDO TIENE MÁS DE SIETE LETRAS.
THAN en español se traduce como QUE (Cuando voy a comparar y lo coloco después del adjetivo).

NOTE: EL –ER SOLO SE UTILIZA EN ADJETIVOS CORTOS Y EL MORE SOLO EN LARGOS, LOS DOS NO
PUEDEN IR EN UNA MISMA ORACIÓN.

E. Final activity. Actividad final, luego de haber entendido, analizado, repasado tanto los adjetivos como
la formación del comparativo, harán un video sencillo y corto, mostrando a alguien de su familia, la van
a describir con los adjetivos que tienen en esta guía, y solo dirán una frase comparativa.

hermana.

She is thin, beautiful and she has curly hair. Ella es delgada, hermosa y tiene su cabello ondulado.

She is ten years old. Ella tiene diez años de edad.
