Rescue Worker: The recovery position helps an unconscious or conscious person to breathe.
First kneel netx to the person and place the arm closet to you straigth out from the body.
Then, bend the person´s far knee. Next, roll the body towards you.
Finally, tilt the head slightly so that the airway is open. Make sure that you hand is under
his/her cheek. Place a blanket or coat over the person and stay close until the emergency help
arrives.Do not use the recovery position if the person has a serious back or neck injury. Does
anybody have any questions?
PRIMEROS AUXILIOS
There is an important difference between trying to help and help with basic
knowledge. Having first aid training allows us to recognize an emergency and help
safely until a professional arrives. Our intention to help may be good, but if we are
going to take a risk or there is a possibility of putting at risk the person we want to
help, it is better not to act.
FIRST AID KIT
Every home, school, public place, workplace and car must have a first aid kit that
contains what is necessary to save a life and avoid complications caused by an
accident.
A medicine cabinet should contain healing material and medications that are not at
risk for people, however, you should always ask yourself before administering them
about a possible allergy or negative reaction to any medicine or substance.
It is important that the kit is not within the reach of children, kept in a cool and dry
place and that the expiration date of the medications be checked periodically to
replace them if necessary.
The kit must include:
• Directory of nearby health personnel, Red Cross, ambulances and health services,
firefighters and toxicological information center, etc.
• Antiseptic solution
• Antiseptic cloths
• Burn treatment
• Eye patch with adhesive
• Eye wash solution
• Sticking plaster
• Adhesive or micropore fabric
• Sterilized gauze
• Clean bandages of at least three sizes
• Clean, non-rusty scissors
• Thermometer
• Peroxide
• Neutral soap
• Battery lamp
• Minimum two pairs of latex gloves or sterile gloves
• Isodine or Betadine (foam and solution)
• Plastic bags
• Mask for insufflation
• splints
In case of not having a first aid kit when an emergency arises, rules or pencils, socks, ties,
sheets or clean handkerchiefs can be used.
