RESUMEN
In this research it is required to analyze the water quality in the watershed of the
river Huatatas using benthic macroinvertebrates as biological indicators
complemented with measurement of physicochemical parameters. The
communities of benthic macroinvertebrates (MIB) can be used as efficient
biological indicators of water quality in freshwater ecosystems. The best known
species with greater predominance MIB are: Trichoptera, Plecoptera and
Ephemeroptera. During the MIB assessments were developed in the watershed
of the river Huatatas region of Ayacucho, Peru, also analyze its faunal
composition, rich families and water quality based on the "Biological Monitoring
Working Party" index (BMWP) . In the middle watershed of huatatas seasonal
samplings were carried out at 4 stations, located in representative areas of the
watershed, which will first be georeferenced, where different land uses that
presents the study area corresponding to appreciate: agriculture, forestry and
livestock. To measure the benthic fauna one D-net network is used, then
identifying aquatic invertebrates to the family level. To study the relationship
between communities of macroinvertebrates and physicochemical analyzes
various environmental variables such as temperature, conductivity, turbidity, and
others were made. Water quality is valued according to the BMWP index. Finally,
the potential of using the MIB is analyzed to assess the quality of water in the
river Huatatas-Peru.
