Resumen. El presente artículo busca discutir y evidenciar cómo se han solucionado las tensiones
entre tradición-folclor-patrimonio y modernidad-hibridaciones-globalización, sobre el escenario de la
música colombiana y cómo afecta su función principal que es la de brindar identidad a las personas y a
las comunidades. En esta relación compleja, cruzada por variables de poder, por discursos y acciones de
personas y comunidades que creen y construyen sus vidas en torno a estos conceptos, se dan grandes
disputas, contradicciones, desplazamientos y negociaciones.

power and identity

Abstract. This article seeks to discuss and make evident how the tensions between tradition-
folk-heritage and modernity-hybridizations-mass-media on colombian music scene have been solved
and how this solution affects their main function which is to provide identity to people and communities.
Within this complex relationship, crossed by power variables, by speeches and actions of individuals
and communities to create and build their lives around these concepts, there are major disputes, con-
tradictions, shifts and negotiations.
