2- GENERAL
¿. t IMTRODUCTION
2.1.1 Derating
Derating is the reduction of eLectrical and thermal stress
co a component in order to increase its useful Iifetime. The
derating factor is usually grven as a percentage of the maxi¡nu¡n
value of the considered parameter. These maximum rated values are
defined in the procurerient specifications.
2.1.3 Applicability
It¡e derating reguirements given in this specification must
be achieved for flight-standard equiPment for use on ESA
spacecraft and associated equiprnent unless the contract states
otherr, rse.

ANNEX A
DEFINITIONS
DERATING
Derating is the reduction of electrical and thermaL stress to a
.- cofnponent in order to increase its useful lifetitne. The derating
factor is usually given as a Percentage of the maximun value of the
considered parameter. These naximum rated values are defined in the
procurement sPec i,f icat ions.
