Dear Parents and/or Guardians,

Rosemont Elementary School has decided to institute a “Bring Your Own Device”
(BYOD) policy for the 2019 school year. I will be incorporating this new policy into my
classroom instruction. Students will use the Internet and their devices for classwork, projects,
and assessments. Since students will now have the opportunity to use their digital devices in
class, it is necessary that I inform my fifth-grade students and their parents/guardians about what
being a good digital citizen means. I have sent students home with an infographic on the topic of
cyberbullying. Cyberbullying is a form of bullying that occurs through electronic
communication. It is just as harmful as face-to-face bullying, and can occur at any time. Since
students will be using their digital devices frequently, it is important they know and understand
how to be responsible Internet users. Before students post online, they must pause and think
about whether or not the content of their posts could hurt another individual’s feelings. The
school is dedicated to the safety of its students, and cyberbullying will not be tolerated. I strongly
urge you to review and discuss the infographic with your student. If you have any questions or

La escuela primaria Rosemont ha decidido instituir una política de "traiga su propio
dispositivo" (BYOD) para el año escolar 2019. Voy a incorporar esta nueva política en mi clase
de instrucción. Los estudiantes utilizarán Internet y sus dispositivos para el trabajo en clase, los
proyectos y las evaluaciones. Dado que los estudiantes tendrán ahora la oportunidad de utilizar
sus dispositivos digitales en clase, es necesario que informo a mis estudiantes de quinto grado y a
sus padres/tutores sobre lo que significa ser un buen ciudadano digital. He enviado a los
estudiantes a casa con una infografía sobre el tema del ciberacoso. El ciberacoso es una forma de
acoso que se produce a través de la comunicación electrónica. Es tan perjudicial como el
bullying cara a cara, y puede ocurrir en cualquier momento. Dado que los estudiantes van a
utilizar sus dispositivos digitales con frecuencia, es importante que sepan y entiendan cómo ser
usuarios responsables de Internet. Antes de que los estudiantes publiquen en línea, deben
detenerse y pensar en si el contenido de sus publicaciones podría dañar los sentimientos de otra
persona. La escuela está dedicada a la seguridad de sus estudiantes, y el ciberacoso no será
tolerado. Le insto encarecidamente a revisar y discutir la infografía con su estudiante. Si tiene
