5 AVANCES CIENTÍFICOS QUE HAN REVOLUCIONADO A LA HUMANIDAD

El siglo XX ha supuesto una auténtica revolución en muchos ámbitos, pero el

científico es el que más ha cambiado con el paso de los años. Ya os hemos hablado
en otra ocasión de los grandes descubrimientos científicos de los últimos años,
pero aquí queremos destacar los avances que se han producido, encaminados
a una mejor calidad de vida. Sin ellos, el mundo hoy en día sería muy distinto.
Hay que puntualizar que todos los avances científicos, pese a tener un lado
positivo, pueden ser utilizados de manera contraria para hacer el mal.

Los antibióticos
Alexander Fleming es de sobra conocido por todos los interesados en la ciencia.
En 1928, este escocés descubrió la penicilina, un antibiótico que salvó la vida de
millones de personas hasta nuestros días. A partir de aquí, comenzó una
investigación que no ha parado, produciendo fármacos que ayudan a nuestro
cuerpo a combatir enfermedades.

LOS ELECTRODOMESTICOS
Aunque estamos acostumbrados a ellos, y no contemplamos un mundo sin sus
comodidades, los electrodomésticos llevan muy poco entre nosotros. Durante
miles de años, el ser humano ha sido capaz de vivir sin ellos, pero el cambio que
supuso la Revolución Industrial nos encaminó al futuro. Ahora podemos cocinar
sin necesidad de un fuego, o incluso guardar la comida durante más tiempo sin
riesgo a que se ponga mala.

LA CONQUISTA ESPACIAL
Ya lo dije Stephen Hawking: “el futuro de la humanidad está en el espacio”. La
carrera espacial que comenzó entre Estados Unidos y Rusia supuso el pistoletazo
de salida, nunca mejor dicho, del hombre. La Tierra se queda pequeña, y tenemos
curiosidad por saber qué hay ahí fuera. El espacio es un inmenso desconocido,
pero poco a poco se van resolviendo preguntas y planteándose otras nuevas. Este
avance no se entendería sin la invención de los aviones y todo lo que ha ayudado
al ser humano a conquistar el cielo.

LOS MEDIOS DE COMUNICACIÓN

A la sociedad actual se la conoce como la sociedad de la información. ¿Has oído el
término globalización? Es lo que define a la perfección los cambios que hemos
vivido, y todo ha sido gracias a las comunicaciones. Las distancias del mundo se han
acortado gracias a la radio, la televisión e internet. Podemos saber lo que ocurre en
otra parte del mundo sin necesidad de movernos.
LA TEORÍA DE LA RELATIVIDAD
Es difícil de explicar y de comprender, pero es el gran cambio que nos señala el
camino a seguir. La fórmula teórica de Albert Einstein sentó las bases de la física
moderna, pudiendo investigar en otros muchos campos. Con la mirada puesta en
el futuro, la teoría de la relatividad será el motor de los próximos cambios, que
supondrán un giro en la historia de la humanidad.

The twentieth century has been an authentic revolution in many areas, but the scientist is
the one that has changed the most over the years. We have already spoken to you on
another occasion of the great scientific discoveries of recent years, but here we want to
highlight the advances that have been made, aimed at a better quality of life. Without
them, the world today would be very different. It must be pointed out that all scientific
advances, despite having a positive side, can be used in the opposite way to do evil.

The antibiotics
Alexander Fleming is well known to everyone interested in science. In 1928, this Scot
discovered penicillin, an antibiotic that saved the lives of millions of people to this day.
From here, began an investigation that has not stopped, producing drugs that help our
body fight diseases.

THE ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES

Although we are used to them, and we do not contemplate a world without their comforts,
the appliances carry very little between us. For thousands of years, the human being has
been able to live without them, but the change that the Industrial Revolution brought us to
the future. Now we can cook without the need for a fire, or even store the food for longer
without risking it getting bad.

THE SPACE CONQUEST

I already said Stephen Hawking: "the future of humanity is in space." The space race that
began between the United States and Russia was the starting signal, never better said, of
the man. The Earth is small, and we are curious to know what is out there. The space is an
immense unknown, but little by little they are solving questions and considering new ones.
This advance would not be understood without the invention of airplanes and everything
that has helped the human being to conquer the sky.

THE MEDIA
Today's society is known as the information society. Have you heard the term
globalization? It is what perfectly defines the changes we have experienced, and
everything has been thanks to communications. The distances of the world have been
shortened thanks to radio, television and internet. We can know what happens in another
part of the world without having to move.
THE THEORY OF RELATIVITY
It is difficult to explain and understand, but it is the great change that points us the way forward.
The theoretical formula of Albert Einstein laid the foundations of modern physics, being able to
investigate in many other fields. Looking to the future, the theory of relativity will be the engine of
the next changes, which will mean a turn in the history of humanity.
