The national identity is the feeling of belonging to a certain culture and the means with which we relate to others.
This approach must be considered by the museological institutions due to the importance that implies its development,
application and commitment to the said term in favor of the reinforcement of the cultural identity.
The Central Museum's mission is to be "a cultural space in which dialogue is used as a tool to generate community and
publicize the cultural diversity of our country."
With this motive and in accordance with the upcoming festivities for the bicentennial of the independence of Peru, the
educational program ¡Viva el Perú! Has been proposed! . Reflections on national holidays, addressed to the general
public (families) who visit the museum daily.
The educational program proposes a cross-sectional visit through a tour through the halls of the museum's permanent
collection - archeology, popular art, republican and numismatic painting - with the aim of reflecting on our national
identity from the first identity constructions ( symbols and images) in order to reflect if these symbols represent us as
Peruvians today.
This concern arises because, although at the beginning of the republic, symbols of social and ideological cohesion were
created, such as the flag and the coat of arms, today there are many other ways of identifying ourselves as Peruvians,
either through a commercial brand, a Typical food dish, an institution or a soccer team. Let's rethink if those first symbols
still identify us as Peruvians.
Activity: # ElEscudoQueyoHaría
If you could create a new national shield, what elements would it contain and in what form would it be? You can draw
it as you wish.
Materials: Bond sheets, colored pencils and erasers.
Activity: #RecreaNuestraHistoria
As a comic the group can give voices to the characters. A reproduction of the work will be used and papers will be
distributed in the form of vignettes, they will be placed next to the chosen figure.
Materials: Reproduction of the painting in medium format, papers in the form of vignettes and pencils.
Quiere recordar, quiere experimentar, quiere imaginar.
El programa debe ser multiplataforma y multitemático. Debe haber ejes transversales, pautas de visita, rutas de
exploracion, talleres, etc.
estructura y relevancia.
To realize an educational program we must think about our visitors and the next visitors that will arrive. An educational
program should be based on critical thinking, soft skills and supported by a questioning learning system (research-based
learning)
We must begin any visit under the premise that the mediator does not know more than the visitor; they simply handle
different information about different things and we are there to share information and build knowledge. The visitor
wants to expand his vision of the world, to understand how his environment has molded him and how he is affecting
the world.
He wants to recognize himself in the thought of the other.
He wants to find a mirror in art.
He wants to remember, he wants to experiment, he wants to imagine.
The program must be multiplatform and multi-thematic. There must be transversal axes, visiting patterns, exploration
routes, workshops, etc.
The program will be in continuous evaluation, the goal was to create an educational program that is based on the needs
and experiences of our audience. For this, we must know which are the most important and global thematic axes that
we can recognize in the permanent collection.
And from these axes other themes can be designed for different visitors. For this reason the program must be mutable,
organic, adaptable, and that evolutions and learn from its mistakes, but with a solid base that gives strength, structure
and relevance.
