Contaminación en Perú aumenta durante el verano
Como cada verano, muchas personas disfrutan de sus vacaciones en las
playas y su comportamiento en ellas, ha ocasionado el aumento de
la contaminación del mar.
Una gran cantidad de hombres y mujeres cargados con sombrillas, toallas,
palas, botellas de agua y botes de crema de sol se encaminarán cada día
hacia las playas de todo el país.
Cada día, lucharán por encontrar el mejor lugar cerca del agua que les
permitan intercambiar de forma más cómoda sus periodos de tueste al sol
con otros de remojado playero.
Muchos serán los que coman, jueguen o duerman en la playa. Y, cada
tarde, al caer el sol, todos iniciarán un proceso de retirada hasta el día
siguiente en el que vuelva a reiniciarse el ritual.
No alimentes al monstruo de plástico
Al retirarse todo el mundo, un rastro de botellas, colillas, botes de crema
vacío, mecheros, bolsas de plástico y un sinfín de elementos olvidados
quedarán en la arena de la playa esperando al que, ayudado por la marea, el
gran monstruo de plástico come su tributo cotidiano.
El mar se ha convertido en el gran basurero de plástico del planeta. Cada
año más de 8 millones de toneladas de plástico son vertidas al mar.
El plástico, una vez en el mar, tiene dos características: flota y tarda
muchos años en degradarse.
Estas dos cualidades del plástico unida a que las corrientes marinas en los
mares del mundo funcionan como una correa interminable que va
moviendo el agua de un lugar para otro hace que ese plástico vaya siendo
recogido de las costas y movido por todo el planeta.
Los científicos han identificados 5 áreas en los océanos del mundo en el
que se generan una serie de grandes remolinos o giros subtropicales que
hacen que en esas áreas se acumule mucho más plástico pues el que llega
allí no sale.
Es lo que se ha venido a denominar “Islas de plástico“. La mayor de ellas
se encuentra en el pacífico norte a unos 2000 Km de Hawaii.

sea.

many years to degrade.
These two qualities of plastic coupled with the fact that marine
currents in the seas of the world function as an endless belt that
moves water from one place to another causes that plastic to be
collected from the coasts and moved around the planet.
Scientists have identified 5 areas in the world's oceans in which a
series of large eddies or subtropical turns are generated that cause
much more plastic to accumulate in those areas because the one
that arrives there does not come out.
This is what has come to be called "Plastic Islands". The largest of
them is in the Pacific North, about 2000 km from Hawaii.
