Peru

Peru is a beautiful country located in South

America. Peru means "land of abundance." The
country of Peru is divided into 3 geographical
regions: the coast, the highland (mountains) and
the jungle. One of Peru's main dishes is ceviche.
Ceviche is made of raw fish and other seafood
cooked with Peru's highly acidic limes and spicy
yellow peppers. It is generally served with a slice of
sweet potato and cancha, or toasted corn kernels.
One of the main indigenous groups of Peru is the
Inca. The Inca built many cities, temples and monu-
ments with highly skilled stonemasonry. One of the
New Seven Wonders of the world is "Machu Picchu"
found in Cusco, the capital of the Inca empire. The
national animal of Peru is the vicuña. Vicuñas are
related to llamas and camels.
