The recovery content of an auriferous sulfide ore with content of iron, lead and copper
was studied at the laboratory level in the province of Cajamarca by the leaching method
with sodium thiosulfate and ammonium, with constants of 0.2 M and 0.5 M
respectively. The tests were carried out in a rotating container, keeping the temperature
constant at 25 C. The variables evaluated were the following: pH from 9 to 11, % and
particle size of the mineral. From the results obtained it is possible to emphasize that the
best recovery is a particle size of 74 um; being the second best recovery at a particle
size of 100 um, gold recovery was disadvantaged; in contrast to a particle size of 37 um.
On the other hand, a pH value between 10 and 11 gives the best recoveries; be the best
particle size of 74 um. From the experimental tests, it is concluded that the leaching
with content of sodium and ammonium in the presence of copper contained in the ore,
this condition favors notably the recovery of gold, which is more beneficial in the
