LA RESPUESTA DE LA TIERRA
Earth raisd up her head

LONDRES LONDON
Por todas las calles del Reino he vagado, I wander thro each charterd street,
Cercanas a donde el Tmesis fluye, Near where the charterd Thames does flow,
Y observado en cada rostro que me encuentro And mark in every face I meet
Huellas de cansancio, huellas de dolor. Marks of weakness, marks of woe.
En todos los gritos de todos los hombres, In every cry of every Man,
En cada gemido de miedo infantil, In every Infants cry of fear,
En todas las voces y todas las vedas, In every voice, in every ban,
Los grillos forjados por la mente escucho: The mind-forgd manacles I hear.
Y oigo sobre todo, en la medianoche, But most thro midnight streets I hear
Y cmo puedo amar ms, Padre, And Father, how can I love you,
A ti o a uno de mis hermanos? Or any of my brothers more?
Yo te amo como el pajarillo I love you like the little bird

Se acerc el Cura y escuch al nio, The Priest sat by and heard the child,
Con ardor trmulo su pelo asi In trembling zeal he siezd his hair:
Y lo condujo de su chaqueta: He led him by his little coat,
Todos loaron su eclesial celo. And all admird the Priestly care.
Nadie oy al nio que sollozaba, The weeping child could not be heard,
Vano fue el llanto de sus dos padres; The weeping parents wept in vain;
Lo despojaron de la camisa, They stripd him to his little shirt,
Y con cadenas frreas lo ataron. And bound him in an iron chain;
