From the territory, at one and the other historical stage, social and different
collective organizations, both in urban and rural centers, raise demands that
result in a repertoire of practices that make their identities visible, as well as
the spatial transformations produced by the market Neoliberal The social
appropriation of space enhances its impact on the territory through the
knowledge-power link, beyond the public policies of the Welfare State and
using the knowledge of the Green Revolution. The incorporation of direct
sowing and genetically modified organisms will mean a change of scale in the
architectural capacity of power and its possibility to transform the territory.
The space networks are signified and propose a resistance that is also an
alternative socialization of the territory.
In the light of these general features and the particularities of Latin American
societies, this Symposium proposes to analyze, from a territory-centered
approach, the conformation, identities and practices of organizations and social
movements that emerged as resistances and responses to neoliberal dominant
paradigms. It is interesting to discuss how the territorial positioning affects the
configuration of identities and the definition of strategies that influence the
disputes that characterize asymmetric power links.
