Mechanical engineering is a very ample field of the engineering that implies the use
of the physical principles for the analysis, design, manufacture and maintenance of
mechanical systems. Traditionally, it has been the branch of the Engineering that by means
of the application of the physical principles has allowed the creation of useful devices, like
utensils and machines. The mechanical engineers use principles like the heat, the force and
the conservation of mass and the energy to analyze static and dynamic physical systems,
contributing to design objects. Mechanical Engineering is the branch of the machines,
equipment and facilities always having in mind ecological and economic aspects for the
benefit of the society. In order to fulfill its work, mechanical engineering analyzes the
needs, it formulates and it solves technical problems by means of an interdisciplinary work,
and it leans in the scientific developments, translating them in elements, machines,
equipment and facilities that serve adapted, by means of the rational and efficient use of the
resources available.
Water pump: Pump that distributes the water in the cooling system of a car
Mechatronics: The use of microelectronics for the control of mechanical devices have
open new possibilities for the automatic operations within the industry. The project of wire
guidance of SKF is an example of use of mechatronics.
Sensor ABS: Sensor ABS of SKF, used in the systems of anti-block braking, acts passively
according to the induction principle. A hoop of impulses with 29 teeth turns happening in
front of a permanent magnet located in a coil. The movement of the wheel induces an
electrical signal in the coil whose frequency and amplitude depend on the turnover rate.
Unlike the used conventional sensors at the moment, the SKF system produces one more a
signal more intense than it allows to reduce to the speed limit inferior, improving therefore
the security of the vehicle.
