ICW Latina reunida con la Presidenta de Costa Rica, madrina de

ICW Global / ICW Latina met with the President of Costa Rica,
godmother of ICW Global

Acompañada de Arely Cano, Marina Soto, Bertha Chete y la referente de

ICW CR, Ruth Linares de ICW Latina, Patricia Pérez, Presidenta de ICW
Global, propuso a la Presidenta Electa de Costa Rica, Doña Laura Chinchilla,
ser la Madrina de ICW Global.
La Dra. Chinchilla ha ofrecido su desinteresada colaboración y con su
notable liderazgo, ICW tendrá en ella una invalorable colaboradora en la
acción por la Paz frente al SIDA.

referent Ruth Linares from ICW Latina, Patricia Pérez, ICW Global Chair,
suggested the President of Costa Rica, Mrs. Laura Chinchilla, as ICW Global
godmother. Mrs. Chinchilla has offered her disinterested support and with
her amazing leadership, ICW will find in her a highly valuable collaborator
in our actions for Peace towards AIDS.

Ruth Linares de ICW CR, copresidenta del evento que reunió a miles de
participantes, manifestó a su turno: "...Hoy mas que nunca la percepción

de la infección y de las personas que vivimos con el virus debe
cambiar...Somos personas sujetos de derechos y de obligaciones como
todas, que con justa causa y razón debemos ser incorporadas en los

procesos de toma de decisiones sobre cómo detener la epidemia...". ICW
participó activamente con la presencia de cientos de sus asociadas. Bajo el
lema “Juventud: por mi derecho a saber y decidir”, el evento llamó la
atención sobre la vulnerabilidad de la juventud de los países
centroamericanos por falta de educación sexual, y por el incremento en las
infecciones en este grupo etáreo y el impacto social que implica para las
naciones de Centroamérica. Reunió a dirigentes políticos, sociales,
empresariales; artistas y periodistas, entre otros, de la región,
compartiendo experiencias con personalidades de las Américas y el mundo,
para fortalecer la respuesta social Global a la pandemia. .
"A civilization cannot be great while paying little attention to the needs of
those living in poverty. A city cannot develop while making those infected
with HIV put up in silence with the dual harm of physical illness and social
discrimination...” Former Costa Rica President Mr. Oscar Arias said at the
CONCASIDA opening on March 2010.
Ruth Linares from ICW CR, deputy chair of the event which gathered
thousands of participants, then said: “…Today, more than ever, the
perception towards this infection and those living with this virus needs to
chance…We are people with rights and responsibilities just like everyone
else and we should be involved in the decision taking processes on how to
stop this pandemic…”. ICW participated actively with the presence of
thousands of partners. Under the motto “Youth: for my right to know and
decide”, the event managed to have an effect on the vulnerability of the
youth from Central American countries and their lack of sexual education,
the increase of the infections within this age group and the social impact to
Central American nations. The Congress gathered Political, Social and
Business Leaders who shared experiences with people from America and
the world to strengthen the Global social response towards the pandemic.

Arely Cano Meza, miembro del Secretariado Regional de ICW Latina hizo un
balance testimonial frente a un destacado grupo de empresarios
nicaragüenses convocados por ICW, de cómo enfrenta una mujer común un
diagnóstico positivo y cómo enfrenta esa dolorosa situación en un
compromiso con las mujeres y niños con vih.
Por su parte la Presidenta Mundial de ICW, la argentina Patricia Pérez,
quien ha sido nominada por cuarta vez al Premio Nobel de la Paz 2010,
realizó un balance de los avances organizativos que ICW Global desarrolla
en 120 países de los cinco continentes, para lograr que la PAZ sea una
oportunidad para detener el Sida .
Arely Cano Meza, member of ICW Latina Regional Secretariat, gave her
testimonial to a large group of relevant business people from Nicaragua
convened by ICW, on how a normal woman faces a positive diagnosis and
how she deals with the painful situation while committing herself to other
women and children living with HIV.
On the other hand, ICW World Chair Argentinean Patricia Pérez-fourth time
nominee to the Nobel Peace Prize 2010- offered a balance of the
organizational developments ICW Global has achieved in 120 countries in
all 5 continents to obtain PEACE as an opportunity to stop AIDS.

earthquake
En el reciente terremoto sufrido por el pueblo chileno, las oficinas de ICW
Capítulo chileno, se vieron seriamente afectadas. Hay una disposición del
Arquitecto Calculista de la Municipalidad de San Miguel, para demoler el
80% de la estructura. Por esa razón acudimos ante ustedes, con el objetivo
de solicitarles el apoyo para la reconstrucción de la casa, para que la sede
del Capítulo Chileno siga funcionando como hasta ahora. ICW Chile puede
levantarse con la voluntad y el apoyo de todas/os, nuestro número de

 During the recent earthquake in Chile, ICW Chilean Chapter offices were
seriously affected. There was an order from the San Miguel Municipality
Structural Designer which indicated 80% of the structure needed to be
demolished. This is why we come to you and ask for your help in the
reconstruction of this office so the Chilean Chapter can keep on working.
