R is for Religion:
The Aztec people were Polytheistic. Polytheistic means they believed in and worshiped many gods. Some of the Aztec gods were more important than others. For example, Huitzilopochtli was the god of sun and the Aztecs most important god. The Aztecs considered themselves People of the Sun. Some other gods include Tlaloc and Chicomecoatl. Tlaloc was the god of rain and water. He helped the Aztecs by sending them water and helping their plants grow. When Tlaloc got angry he would grant thunderstorms and hail. Chicomecoatl was a girl and her name meant seven heads. She was the god of agriculture, nourishment, and corn. The Aztec people actually worshipped over 100 different gods.
