Forma parte de los Estados Unidos, como un estado (desde el 3 de enero de 1959 pasa a ser el estado nmero 49), situado en el extremo noroeste de Amrica del Norte, con capital en Juneau. Fue el penltimo en incorporarse a los Estados Unidos, sustituyendo a Texas como el estado ms grande de la nacin. Nombre Viene del vocablo aleutiano alyeska o alaxsxaq, que significa "el objeto contra el que la accin del mar es dirigida" Bandera Representada, sobre fondo azul, las estrellas que forman la constelacin de la Osa Mayor y, en la esquina superior derecha, la Estrella Polar.
