Reflexive verbs REFLECT the action on the speaker.

A verb is reflexive when the subject and the object are the same.

I wash myself.

subject: I verb: wash object: myself

When a verb is reflexive, the infinitive ends in "se."

lavar lavarse acostar acostarse peinar peinarse

to wash (non-reflexive) to wash oneself (reflexive) to put to bed (non-reflexive) to go to bed (reflexive) to comb (non-reflexive) to comb oneself (reflexive)

Conjugar

lavarse: to wash oneself yo me lavo I wash (myself) t te lavas you wash (yourself) she washes (herself) ella se lava we wash (ourselves) nosotros nos lavamos vosotros os lavisyou all wash (yourselves) ellos se lavan they wash (themselves)

maquillarse: to make oneself up

yo me maquillo t te maquillas ella se maquilla nosotros nos maquillamos vosotros os maquillis ellas se maquillan
Ellas se maquillan en el espejo.

baarse: to take a bath

Ella se baa con agua caliente.

despertarse: to wake up (e:ie)

I wake up, you wake up, he/she/it wakes up etc...

Carlos se despierta a las seis y media.
