Tránsito Amaguaña

Tránsito Amaguaña tenía todo en su contra. Mujer, joven, indígena, divorciada,

pobre, iletrada, Tránsito cambio para siempre la Historia de los movimientos sociales
y de la política en Ecuador. Tránsito era como toda una generación de indígenas
abusados, pero ella tendría la sagacidad suficiente para mirar un futuro esperanzador
en el trabajo colectivo. “Somos como los granos de quinua: si estamos solos el viento
nos llevará lejos, pero si estamos unidos como en un costal, nada nos hará el viento”,
decía.

The reasons why I chose this character are very special and concrete. This is the definition of
how to be a good leader, in spite of so many adversities. To encourage and motivate others to
change the history of a country, not only of a community.
Thanks to her, other communities were able to open their way to rights and express them in a
way never seen before.
Not to give up in the face of diversity, to be constant and to fulfill their objectives no matter
the difficulty.
This is what it takes to be a good leader. not everyone will expose themselves in the face of
adversity to defend their country and their own.
