Origen
1. El origen de los partidos liberal y conservador se remonta al período de la Independencia, cuando los
criollos se opusieron al gobierno español, y crearon grupos políticos con diferentes propuestas e intereses.
2. Durante la Patria Boba, es decir, entre 1810 y 1816, surgieron dos corrientes políticas diferentes: los
centralistas que buscaban establecer un gobierno central dirigido por un presidente que controlara todo el
territorio, y los federalistas que se inclinaban por un gobierno que permitía a las regiones crear sus propias
leyes.
3. Durante la Gran Colombia, los desacuerdos ideológicos entre Bolívar y Santander hicieron que nacieran
dos corrientes políticas: los bolivaristas y los santanderistas. Los primeros, de tendencia centralista,
buscaban conservar el orden y las costumbres heredadas de la colonia, y los segundos, de tendencia
federalista, intentaban cambiar el modelo político colonial.
